Got it right on my first try. Didn't have sand or dirt handy, so used a yoga mat folded over a couple times. Took about four rotations around the brick of medium impact tapping. Then the brick split cleanly on its own. Was a paver brick about 3" x 4" x 8". Great video. Thanks for posting.
Brilliant! So simple! Thank you!
Dan U B the Man! Thank you as I didn't think it would work!!! It is magic.
Worked perfectly thanks
Thanks so much for sharing that technique 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Amazing demonstration, makes it look easy. Well, I need to break some lengthwise, we shall see...
Thanks... worked perfectly for me.
Thank you very much for sharing your skills very useful
When I used a brick mason recently, he chipped them in his two hands. He held the brick with one hand and smacked it with a chipping hammer one time with the other. One smack and done. I didn’t see him have to toss any mistakes. I wish I had paid more attention now that I need some pieces for a project.
Great video and great demonstration
Great advice - saved me a lot of hassle.
Thank you Dan
Thank you so much!
great vid great help cool
That is totally awesome. Could you show us how to break a cinder block?
i have a one and a half inch diameter steel rod about a foot long and weighs about eight pounds and an old hatchet with the blade shortened and the poll ground down , it has a cracked handle but is good enough to use it to hold a chisel . i think i will try to use these out in the woods to cut flat shelf rock and maybe split some to make a fireplace . thanks . hand
Thanks!!!
really good
That was cool.
Nice 1, perfect 👍
Nice !!
Cheers pal 👍🏼
Thanks
I did your method for my project and worked well
Glad it helped
Nice one Dan... thanks for the tip
No problems thanks for the support 👍
Brilliant. Will finish off the last bits of the re-paving tomorrow. We had some extra drainage put in which meant ripping up a fair bit of the brick paving at the end of the pergola and all down the side path. Got a couple of quotes to fix the paving and they were all over AUD$10,000! Said to my husband, watch me, I will do it myself before I pay that much for it. Almost finished and am so damn proud of myself! Even got the bend in the path looking beaut. One more little section plus need to cut some half bricks to fit along the new drain. This should do the trick.
Glad this will help you, sounds like you have had your work cut out. You should be proud doing that it isn't easy haha. Thanks again
Awesome. Thank you. Now I don't need to get a posh tool! 😋
Thank you. Will be doing that today!
No problem good luck 😁👌🏻
Thank you for uploading bro.

Thanks Jordan
Thanks man, this will help in my front yard
easy peasy
Thousandth like!
I'm a keen DIY'er, always appreciate tradies sharing their expertise, thanks - but I can't help noticing that mortar joining the inside corner of the walls behind you - is that safe and legit?
I wonder if this would work with less than 90° angle cuts. I suppose I'll find out...or rent an electric brick cutting saw at the hardware store.👍🏻
saves a lot of dust tand noise that cutting creates
Can I do this to remove a protruding half brick inside my home on top of my fireplace? It’s like a small one half brick shelf. Length wise.
I would use a brick saw 👍🏻
4y
Somedays I'd love to use my apprentices head to brake bricks. He's as thick as 2 bricks but I prefer to call him a plank.
😂 most of them are at that age aren't they? Either that or glued to a phone 🤣💪🏻
CLEAN CHOP BY HAND,,,
Thought you'd taken up Karate for a minute,, lol..
Hahaha, I can dream John 😂👌🏻💪🏻
how about terracotta hollow bricks plz
May need a saw or cutter for the job 👍🏻
Now do it long ways 😂
Grinder or sthl saw
A normal what hammer???
???? You will need a lump hammer
Does anyone have a method that actually works? I've tried this on numerous different bricks with no success.
It couldn’t be shown anymore simple, you need to be precise and firm with your knocks. An easy option would be use a grinder with a stone wheel or a sthl saw.
@@PlumbingGy thanks Dan. I'm not massively keen to spend money on an angle grinder in order to cut two bricks to size. I'm not sure what to do.
If it’s becoming too hard to do you may be better off spending the £25 on a cheap grinder from screw fix than keep wasting bricks, and sell it for a small loss after your done with it. But you’d be surprised at what attachments you can get for a small grinder now you may find it a good investment 👌🏻
