  • Hi-Yo, Silver! Away!
Many in the audience didn't know what to make of this corps that seemed to be thumbing its nose at the established traditions of drum corps, but they knew they had just witnessed something that was destined to change the activity as we knew it. More on the 1976 Bridgemen ➡️ dci.org/news/s...

I marched with Guardsmen in 75 and 76. We were from Illinois. I first saw Bridgemen when we completed in the eastern part of the country. Most corps looked military with the uniforms and marching of that era. Then came Bridgemen! So different, the lower mark time, and uniforms like raincoats. Who in the heck are they we thought. ...but they planted the seed of different! I enjoyed them. They were FUN. Let's never forget Bridgemen.

As expected of the real people. That's excellent! I was also a high school student at this time and played the trumpet in a marching band, but I wasn't at this level. But it is nostalgic. I was able to show you something good. Thank you very much.

Ahh, yes, the Bridgemen, the corps that obliterated tradition.

Back when drum corps was fun, not the orchestral dirges of today.

Who was Phantom Regiment? They did nothing but orchestral dirges, and they still do nothing but orchestral dirges!
