I got Zinnia seed from the Crematorium who took care of my late 13 yr old Boxer Mutt Puppy Knox. I do not have a green thumb. So planting a Memorial garden is not my thing. Maybe this will help me...
Hi @dianac7113! Great question. Yes, you can. After deadheading, you can lay each flower out on a flat surface or even hang upside down and let completely dry out in a dark, dry location. This could take anywhere from a couple of days up to a week or two, depending on relative humidity and how well the room or area is ventilated. If I'm cutting a blossom to SAVE THE SEEDS, do I take from a newer/unfertilized or one of the crowning/fertilized ones? THANKS for this informative video Allison.
I am in zone 5b. WHEN should I start my zinnia, cosmos, coneflower, strawflower, and gomphrena seeds inside? Apparently, NOT in april/may :( Not long enough to get nice tall and flowering plants like these!
Hi Stella! 👋 Thank you for watching! Yes, you could scatter zinnia seeds over an area to then let them grow thick and force them to grow tall, like ours. We actually grew ours from seed in seed trays and then planted them about 6 inches from each other in our bed to get that closeness and to force them to grow taller. This helped us to maximize our planting area and also not waste seed, because if you scatter seeds then when these plants reach a certain size they can start to over take each other and the smaller slower growing plants will die off. It's completely up to you, of course how you do this, but that is our 2-cents and how we grew our zinnias. Hope that helps and good luck growing your zinnias nice and tall. We hope they are gorgeous and lovely! 😊👍
I burned ALL of my zinnias with neem oil yesterday. I sprayed them off with water today. Will they die? Should I pull them up or prune them all the way down?

It's so hard for me to cut flowers because I see how many insects are enjoying them that I can't deprive them the blooms.
