The way Prof Bimol Akoijam has looked at the ongoing carnage in Manipur--his ability of self-appraisal, self-criticism, objective and logical approach to the current issue, all the while offering ways to alleviate the situation and the need to go beyond colonial given concepts and terms--manifests how erudite he is. And also, to be able to critique fellow academics' approach to the current mayhem takes not just intellectual superiority but also courage. Thank you, Sir. It was an enlightening observation. It would be great if Karan Thapar and oja Bimol have a discussion on this issue.

sure, but he's misplaced in that people want seperate administration becoz of funds and there are other ways of asking for it??? This conflict wont have arise if the valleys are content in valleys but wanna grab the hill areas. Yes I agree he spoke alot of truth. but his solution is an age old solution which has already been tried and failed. A commitee with no decision powers on budget allocation cannot fix the grievances of lack of hill district development.

One thing is evident; Dr Haokip does not call out any of the Kuki leaders even once whereas Dr Akoijam has enough guts to call a spade a spade on both sides. Dr Haokip's recommendation is that of a separatist, which has been the narrative from CCpur since day 3 of the conflict. Like Dr Akoijam said this looks like a means to an end which was sophisticatedly orchestrated and funded accordingly.
Oja Bimol Akoijam took the noob Thongkholal Haokip for a spin and legend has it that he's not recovered from it yet. Next is KK Suan. We must demand a debate between KK Suan and Oja Bimol Akoijam. Karan Thapar must also have the courage to sit down Bimol Akoijam in his show

I hv been following the Manipur case since 3rd May 2023 what was noticed is the exactly the same as described by JNU Associate professor.
Sir - U R one of the few to observe and use the correct words for the understanding of the people outside Manipur.
It is a preplanned Ethnic Cleanising orchestrated by the Biren govt and his leaders from Central.
The observations of sir Bimol Akoijam is very earnest, very true and educative. Thnx to sir Akoijam. His ideas are superlative.

Dr Bimol was exceptionally excellent. We need such level-headed people with a logical and rational mindset to sort out problems. The Kukis and Meiteis are really nice people but they should learn how to respect life. If they could follow "Thou shall not kill" then Manipur will turn out to be heaven on earth. All the best!

The difference in intellectual level is like North pole to South Pole. One senior professor through research and book knowledge, other through WhatsApp and Facebook video shared among their community. Sad state for JNU.... His expression when senior professor said these are based on literature of scientist.. not from his facebook and whatsapp University videos.

Mr Haokip, U r not qualified to teach at JNU. U said that dominant community has a lot of reservation and then just u jump into the topic of targeting kuki tribal! What do u want say and do u understand urself? At least, Akoijam has never tried to make communal but You Haokip is the only trying to make it communal. Kuki started the riot in churchanpur which is mainly kuki residents and riot started at churchandpur meitei leikai and then meitei has to react this riot...! i.e reaction from meitei in valley areas.

People won't just come back to peace. It is impossible now when so much loss and tragedy has happened on both sides. But we need peace.
I know that no one of us will ever forget what has happened to us and to our close ones. But even if this memory lingers on, we must work on getting over our hate and animosity against each other. This will not be easy. We will have to work hard to rebuild our land and find peace once again.
Even if it is tough, we need peace, because like it or not, it's not like we can magically create a huge wall between the communities so that they will never meet again in the social, political or economic arena. Also, it's too tough, I don't think any of us can bear any more violence.

Just a small observation: debating parties are not able to come to a conclusion because both parties identify different things as the root cause of the present scenario.. doesn’t help if both are right on a different plane… should try to touch upon even those topics no matter how uncomfortable they are, else the cancer will never be cured.

But let me jz ask one thing why meitei representives meet the interviewer face to face but the representatives for kuki community are always doing it online whether polienlal haokip or thongkholal haokip. But meitei representative whether it be nishikant Or Bimol they always meet face to face. When they say they can't go to valley because they are afraid but supreme court ask them to do it online. But they are doin every interview online here are they afraid of mainlaind india too.

Some in the Meitei community try to make it communal by delibrately targeting Churches
"It is almost like ethnic cleansing", "why security forces have not been able to crack down" Dr Bimol says. Some other commentators are also saying the same - "why was the police not controlling the violence". We have seen this before. It could very well be pre-planned. Who benefits from this division between tribals and non-tribals, Hindus and Christians...everyone knows. I hope not only Manipur, but also entire Northeast be on guard against this.
