I knew they were thinking about California, but didn't know they'd settle on an inauguration date yet! I wonder if they'll add more to porter reserve for those longer flights!
I loved this review, thanks for sharing! I will be trying the YYJ-YYZ route with the family sometime in the future. Really wish them success and continued profits. We need another national carrier, and one that's more JetBlue like here
Nice! You'll have a great time with Porter! I agree! Looks like WJ & AC are restructuring their domestic network with each more focused on west/ east respectively. We'll have to watch and see how this plays out and how Porter positions themself.
Porter is fantastic! Just a side note - in “regular” economy passengers get a complimentary wine or beer as well as quality chips + other snacks. Just not a meal. And perhaps not hard alcohol either. I can’t quite remember exactly. No other airlines in canada offers that except montreal - toronto with Air Canada (to i guess try to copy Porter lol).
Your absolutely correct. Meals are available for purchase in the regular economy on their Embraer aircraft. I covered economy on one of their q400s too!
Ya it's definitely worth it especially if you can score one of their 20% off promos. Keep in mind the inflight menu differs from the E195 and Q400 aircraft. Check porter's website for up to date info! Enjoy Halifax. Never been!
We live in Florida and are booking a trip to Vancouver in June. I am very particular about logistics of flying, but my husband is very frugal, so no First or Business Class flights for me. I've been researching aircraft and flightsd (including position of door plugs (!) for two days now and am really looking forward flying Porter Reserve. Thank you for your review. I'm excited!!
Thank you for this. Am going to use them one-way to to a quick hop to St. John's in April to see my family. The return I will use a credit with Westjet so it ended up being a nice inexpensive trip. I didn't expect to see a business product and your video confirmed it, but as my flight will be an evening departure, just having access to a couple glasses of wine will be sufficient and the flight is just under three hours.
Brilliant! I thought it was a nice experience, being able to access the lounge and have a good meal seems good to me, including the wifi (I haven't seen many airlines that offer wifi in this part of the world). Many greetings Andrew!
I flew them for the first time when I went to Vancouver it was a packed flight when I took them, I can see why it’s a popular airline, but it’s the best 10/10, free wifi and snacks, I wouldn’t say it’s a low budget airline like flair, I would say it’s somewhat of a medium budget airline similar to westjet, but it’s great to see them expand flights out to LA and Vegas, I feel has to though in about say give them about 2 or 3 years and who knows it could go to tropical places like Mexico, Cuba, Dominican, etc
Ya, they're definitely not like Flair! But I like how they do things different. They are already are planning to Mexico. I always enjoy them and another options for us consumers.
Very well presented video. I think the lack of lounge access answers the question: Porter Reserve is premium economy, not business class. With a standard business class fare on other airlines, most travelers would expect lounge access to be included.
This is true, at least in Canada. Porter Reserve is generally (not always) cheaper than WS or AC bus class. The included food and drinks are quite welcomed. Fun fact, Porter used to have their own "lounge" in YTZ offering complementary snacks and drinks, but this is a thing of the past.
Looks like Porter Airlines is squared away in regards to there flights...I noticed they do fly to destinations in the U.S. Would luv to see them do a twice weekly flight to Phoenix, Arizona!? 👊
I think this flight was fairly calm. Most times flight paths avoid turbulent air masses. Sometimes it's unavoidable, but it's nothing to worry about. Enjoy the trip and the porter experience!
Will be flying with Porter for first time ever EDM to Fort Lauderdale. I used to be die hard WestJet. But they are now expensive and options are bad. Porter sounds great!
Porter is a good option, especially now with these planes. They provide fantastic service. I am happy to see they reach Western Canada now and offer us another option! Enjoy the trip!
Porter works well when things work well but if for any reason you are delayed and your flight gets canceled you can forget about going home before 3-4 days. They are simply not equipped to handle bad weather
Inclement weather is part of the game unfortunately. They don't have a large fleet as compared to ws and ac. That being said, be sure to familiarize with what rights you have as a passenger that legislation allows. Hopefully these occurrences are far and few between.
Nice to meet you, thank you very much. Board the plane from the airport terminal. Until I got off the plane. Thank you for your detailed explanation. I understand that. We are looking forward to hearing from you. Please subscribe to the channel.
I can't imagine sitting on this plane for longer than a few hours, and even then, I would consider this to be an uncomfortable flying experience. I wonder how much success the airline will have on these longer haul services.
It definitely takes some people some time to get used to long haul flights. Porter only serves North America with their longest flight being Toronto to LA.. so not long haul in the traditional sense. But they do offer a nice product for north American travel.
I flew on AC from YYC-IAD twice, and on the second trip was when i realized porter flew to IAD likely from YTZ…. Pissed i gave AC my money when i could have done Porter
I got porter for my brother and they left him stranded after an emergency with another passenger and said they'd help him to his next flight and then when they landed they said they can't do anything. It's absolutely worth the price of bigger airlines. The only Canadian airline I would trust is westjet at least they're more helpful. I'll never book with porter again
Porter changed their policy for support animals. My elder support worker, at my request booked my flight to toronto for specialist care. I found out too late of the change of policy, would have had to chop my dog in half to be allowed on the flight and they had no provision to fly him in cargo because they save that space for able bodied peoples' luggage. I was not able to get a refund.
This is an unfortunate event, but of course I can't speak to the specifics. You can reach out to the airline and perhaps they can give you some answers. I hope you can have more favourable travel experiences in the future.
@@theglobalpeasant Was on the phone with them today. Complete stonewall and dress-down. It looks like they can glean more profit by selling cargo space than accommodating the right to have support animals travel free and this would be their motivation. The "lady" supervisor would not allow me to complete a sentence, refused an escalation. Believe I have internal structural info that they do have the potential.
There are many different business classes and we can't compare longhaul international with domestic/transborder. As long as you enjoyed the experience and service that's all that really matters!
Why are all the females sitting at the back of the plane, then no one in the middle seats? Anyone ever told that due to their carry on weight they had to sit at the back of the plane?
So, what says you of Porter Reserve?
A note for 🇺🇸, Porter partners with jetBlue, so some USA desinations connect with them.
This airline is legit!!! Porter sure has some excellent branding too!
Great airline!
Checking out the video since Porter is adding Toronto -> both San Francisco & Los Angeles direct flights in January 2024

Been debating if I should splurge on Porter Reserve this April when I go to Halifax. This just sealed the deal! Excellent review video!

I'm sure you'll enjoy Porter as much as I did. Great aircraft with fantastic service. Enjoy your trip to the west coast!
Porter is the best regional airline.
thank you for this review , good job ! , I am long time Air Canada customer but looking for options to for work commute Toronto - Vancouver
Definitely something to look into. Reserve would be a good choice for a cross country flight.
Great video! I’m eager to fly Porter for the first time and try Porter Reserve!
Should be a great time. Let us know how it goes!
Amazing and detailed review
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

I wouldn't put Phoenix out of the realm of possibilities. As they keep receiving more planes, their network will continuously expand.
how did you find the turbulence? i'm flying with porter soon but i'm a nervous flyer LOL and i really can't do the drops
I think this flight was fairly calm. Most times flight paths avoid turbulent air masses. Sometimes it's unavoidable, but it's nothing to worry about.

I am flying with them to Miami looking forward to it never been on them before. Heard you get free wifi and drinks
You heard correctly! Should be a great flight. Enjoy!
How does the window compare to the Airbus a220-100/300, and the cabin noise.
Good question. I don't know the exact dimensions, but I'd say they're on par with the a220.
@@theglobalpeasant what can you say about both aircrafts and their aspects

Profit before accessibility?
wish Porter would add e195 to US service to Western Canada from US cities.
We'll see if they make a hub outwest. Wouldn't be a too bad idea!

when do they come out with the 20% off?
Check Porter's website, or sign up for their emails. It happens every so often.

@@theglobalpeasant definitely. Not 100% sure when i’m going back but probably within a year
Nice video
How does the seat width compare to Westjet?
Indistinguishable from my perspective. Though you tend to get wider seats on wide-body aircraft...so it would depend on which WJ aircraft.
do the regular seats offer water?
I don't see why not.

No idea. I don't believe there is a limit within reason.

Lol it's NOT business class. Business is a private pod, lay flat bed and tablecloths. All were included in my Air France YYZ to CDG Business class.

Didn't notice it until you mentioned it...but I doubt it. The plane wasn't terribly full this day.
