Thanks For posting. Gives me another reason to never fly these clowns again. You did say that they are a budget airline which was apt. Virgin Blue (cough Australia) claim to be a premium airline though. They're absolutely not! You have Flight Attendants walking around with a Credit Card machine, begging for money like someone on the streets of LA. No thanks!

Are bags checked in at the concourse with all the gates/platforms, or is it at ticketing?

I'm flying my second time on this aircraft to KIX this summer.

I find AC 787 has little leg rooms. Flew 787-9 to Bangkok from YVR. So cramp. Never again. Love EVA 777 3-3-3 seating configuration.

JA801A was actually the very first Dreamliner in the world delivered to launch customer ANA back in 2011. You can still find the videos showing the aircraft being put through final inspection, test flights and even a test of the IFE system back then.

If you don't mind me asking how much did you bid to be succesful, i plan to do the same

Great video! I was hoping we’d get a trip report of this journey when I saw you were coming to Canada. That dinner portion looks small but to be fair I’ve had airplane meals that didn’t look like much but then left me satisfied without feeling like I’d overeaten. Sounds like a very satisfactory product overall, thanks for sharing!

I travelled on the new Via train back in July to Toronto before transferring to a GoTransit train to Hamilton. It was very comfortable and the ride was so smooth 😌😄 hoping to ride it again next year when I travel down again

Went to Queensland from Melbourne , on the way back , flight got cancelled , next flight in 7 hours time , had to get a motel cost 200 dollars , then got delayed another 3 hours and my wife was given separate seat , the plane was maxed no spare seat , i think they do it on purpose to maximise profits . I'll never ever fly with them again . New law will come in to compansate passangers for delays . They shouldn't be able to get away with it . Scumbags .

I work at a major airport, and I witness them cutting corners daily. I just saw them take off in a snowstorm without deicing. This is not a one-off incident. They do it repeatedly to save costs.

Scoot Plus seats are the same as JL domestic Class J seats.

Having used this product in 2023, I wonder how it's doing now with Hankyu's competing PRIVACE product. I think this is the better one comparing all of Shinkansen, JR, and the two private railways. Hankyu's reserved seating product tends to flat-out stop serving passengers once there is a service disruption during the day; JR's competing product is expensive both for the A-Seat and Shinkansen (despite having onboard washrooms).

Some food for thoughts: Even with the added cost for Class J, this is still cheaper than a Hiroshima -Tokyo ticket on this shinkansen!

They’re doing this ultrabasic thing because flair hasn’t gone under yet, it’s westjet saying “we do want to split flair’s market, but only if we can treat the low fare passengers as cattle to achieve our other goals of faster boarding and less free gate checking carry on bags due to bulk outs” Westjet started out as a budget carrier so they’re trying to brand it as a return to their roots, not the battle to kill flair that it is. Swoop was never a serious airline, westjet thought by operating it separately they could kill flair without lowering their mainline prices.

9:54 I used to work for westjet, while the new owners are cheap and kind of awful, I don’t think they were lying. they were pushing 30 minute boarding where 45 was the standard. We also bulked out (too many carry ons) almost every time the flight sold out, often bulking out even with unsold seats in winter. (Bulkout= forced gate check)

I often fly NH and JL domestic internationally and domestic often and both great airlines. An interesting route and reasonably priced J class is to Ishigaki on Jal Transocean 738.

Now I have time hehehe, nice trip, the bus looks nice inside and it's also nice to be able to enjoy the landscapes on these trips. Greetings Andrew and have a nice weekend :)

I grew up in Thunder Bay and remember what it used to be like flying to Toronto.In the late 60s Air Canada flew the Vickers Viscount that I remember being very comfortable and a plane that would be just as fast and modern as the Dash 8 used today .After the Viscounts were taken out of service it was on to the jet age for Thunder Bay . Air Canada flew the DC 9 and CP Air flew the 737 . At one point AC flew the 727 as well . Back then the flights were much more premium with polite flight attendants and a hot meal and free flowing beer . You could even smoke back in the day if you can believe it . Flying was really special back then good food great experience and I can’t remember it being extremely expensive it was within everyone’s reach . Sadly today looking at Thunder Bay the only planes flying there are prop dash 8 with Porter or Air Canada . I hate flying on the dash 8 they are very uncomfortable and noisy not much room inside and never a smooth landing because with the high wing you don’t get that cushion of ground effect that you get on low wing planes . I would gladly fly on those Vicker Viscounts any day over the dash 8 . Oh well I guess that is the state of Canada these days going in reverse.

Great review. I just got back from Japan and was blown away by their transit and regional train operations. I dont believe I interacted with 1 person from the time I purchased my ticket to the time I got to my destination. The train attendant on the bullet train stoped to pas out a hot towel but that was it! The whole process is so seamless, it’s all automated!I I agree, the VIA rail boarding process is very airline like. Not sure why automatic gates that scan QR codes aren’t installed at the entrance of the concourse and then passengers just board when the train are indicating boarding. The entire process seems very inefficient and costly. I still don’t get why people que when there are assigned seats. I guess VIA’s process lack of seating in the concourse and habit may be reasons. Cant wait to try the new trains.
