It was just a dad's initial reaction for his daughter.
I think he was living with them at one point in time or another. I think that is why Dylan was there. He mentioned something about their mom said it was a sandwich in there. So, apparently they know he was there. May be they shouldn't have allowed Dylan to live there at all if they was so concerned about them possibly hooking up. Brandon did have his ex over from Minnesota Cindy was concerned because she thought she heard them up moving around and possibly sneaking in the room with one another. She woke Jim up and he wasn't concerned about it at all. Brenda and Brandon was supposed to be the same age. So everyone have a point. Jim just disliked Dylan based on who Dylan's father was. He treated Dylan as if he was his father and that wasn't right.
If I remember correctly Dylan was injured somehow and moved in with the Walsh’s until he recuperated

But I do feel like Brandon got away with a lot more in that area too…I could be wrong but it’s like the parents would walk in, see him making out, and then just go “oh, oops sorry!” and walk right back out. I know there was a scene with Cindy where that happened at least.
