Lolololol i love as you pointed out all the pieces and bits in the kit you had that oil coverd finger lololololol thsts why i wstch no fear and no fake!!! You and sarah -n- tuned are my favs.
Had a ProVent 200 on my 2.5L CRDi turbo since I brought it used. Same time I fitted up a (insert reputable brand of your choice) fuel pre filter. Glass bowl, 30 micron, plumb it up properly or get someone who can to do it to do it for you. Those two mods, blow by gas catch can and a pre filter for your fuel, two most important mods on ANY common rail diesel, not just the 4WDs. After that you can worry about light bars and lift kits.
Loving that Intro/outro Danie! Keep it up you legend, Your the best!
How freaking excellent is that kit. Great vid Danie Love it.
Thanks Danie, I have a 2017 Z71 Colorado and have been thinking about installing one for a while now. I will be watching how it goes on your next service. Hi from Kelso ;)
you blokes are so good i wish that more people where like you and cared so much
Mint video
just ordered one for my nephew for Xmas

No worries:)
Well Done Danie, great job.
Another great video. Love the videography, B roll is great!
I like seeing the old 4x4 still going and besides that to me the older stuff just looked a lot better and less plastic. But definitely keep up the excellent videos and I can't wait to see what your doing next
Thank you for details video
Nice clean install. Good video.
Hi Danie
Just bought one for my 200 going to install today thanks for the video.
Good choice!
Bugger. Wished I watched your video earlier. Just recently fitted a HPD catch can. Think I was talked into it. But I suppose any catch can, is better than not having one. Cheers Mark. PS. Great videos, keep em coming....
Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
Great information
love your work
added oil catch can on my 75 1hz last oil change....notice no more oil into front of the turbo they do the job really well .....mods looking good Danie to olboy .your effort is paying off
Thank you! And that's good to hear
You're doing an awesome job Dani....don't let the trolls win....love the content and your easy going way sweetie...more power to ya!!!!
Thank you!!
G'day great video Danie the ute is looking good mate can't wait to see the canopy on it mate.
Me either!!
great vid danie im getting motivated to do more to mine now
You’re the best Danie 🤙
Hi Danie you have great videos
I have worked at Toyota many years and if you want to reduce oil ingress to the to save you draining it to often ,remove the rocker cover and their is a baffle plate that is set to far open. Bend the plate to close the gap as most of it splashed in from cam lubrication and not blow by. Keep up your great vids
Ross
Another excellent and informative vid. Catch can is my next upgrade and I should have done it when I got the car. Nice camera work at the end too. I also liked the Gopro vid at the end of the last vid but still can't work out where you mounted it lol. Cheers
That's awesome to hear!! Heheh mounted on bullbar and side mirror
Love watching u Daniel your videos are awesome as
Love the video the intro and outro definitely cool
Awesome!!
Loved the intro 👌
Two vids in 3 days wow 👍👍 great job Danie
I know smashed out a few!
Love the outro
Thank you!!
Very nice.
Other sterling effort Dani 👍🍻🤟
Thank you
Ace looking bit of kit
When you mentioned needing to round up the proper oil rated hose for the catch can project, I know the first thing some people would do is grab some heater hose they have laying around or buy some thinking its suitable when in fact coolant rated hose just falls apart with fuels/oils and certainly don't want that happening and chance having dirt suck into the intake through a hose that's falling apart.
Hence why I didn't use coolant hose
first.
I placed Ryco air and oil filters on my Toyota Aurion on Friday. I've always wondered what a catch can was
Yeah awesome! Hopefully how I explained it made sense!
@@DanieSimpson yes it did, thanks
if you pull that bracket off and turn those bolts around you will get a bit more clearance to the battery, probably fine as is but stuff moves around a lot when offroad. other than that i have hoist/workshop envy!
Interim set up because I'm changing the whole battery tray
@@DanieSimpson Building a LiFePo4 pack from Headway 38120 cells off ebay for mine, less weight more performance, do need some electronics to take care of the cells but not too difficult...
If any can can a catch can can.
Danny great job but please either shorten the bolts to the lenth where they don't stick out past the nut's or turn them round just incase as on a heavy landing or a shunt the battery could get peirced by the bolt's, never say never I have seen it happen even though the battery was held tight in the cradle by the clamp.
One bettery was punctured and it exploded on a rally stage I was acting as a marshall and fortunately apart from a sma ll fire which was extinguished safely it could have been worse but for construction regulations a mounting bolt had been fitted in a hurry incorrectly or the wrong one fitted at the service point according to the co-driver lesson learnt.
Keep these style of videos coming and hopefully some of you using Old Boy in anger soon.
Am swapping out my whole battery set up soon so hence just a interim set up for now.
@@DanieSimpson Ahh a video worth looking forward to, and I am with Tavoco great outro
Love your intro vid...
Boots and shorts 🤘
Hey Danie! love what you do and the videos are fantasic! have you ever considered lining your cab with carbuilders sound deadening. thought that might make for a good video if you were considering it!!!!
Yes got it all in my shed but life gets in the way
@@DanieSimpsonYeah, i know that struggle
Great vid and thanks for the detailed info. I have a 2014 RG Colorado 2.8 with 103k on the clock..... Will I need to have the intake cleaned before I fit a catch can? And what's your thoughts on EGR blanking plates? Cheers Danie!!
Never too late to chuck a catch can on, definitely be worth running some upper engine cleaner through the big girl next service.
Always have
Danie Simpson - No wonder your wep has happily lived over 600,000
Enjoy these vids very much, good to see maintenance on an old bus. Any chance you can do a vid on 12 volt setup/
Will be getting a new one with the canopy so will do one then:)
Great job on the catch can install, looks good too.
You will need to change your plates from "OLBOY" to "EVERYMOVINGPARTREPLACEDORREPAIRED" might have to shorten it a bit to make it fit on a plate lol but Australia the language of the abbreviation.
Hardly anything moving has been replaced? Same engine, gearbox, transfer, shafts, diffs, cab
You started off with a great platform, the days when a Toyota was indestructible.
Great videos though, you make them encouraging to a person, that they can get out there and give it a crack in the drive or front lawn.
Great video Danie, do keep them coming.I do have a question though...Why doesn't the oil just drain back to the sump?
It can't get back to the sump
You can pull that small pipe from intake and any engineering shop would fabricate shorter one or even with bend so hose would fit better if you want to. I have PV200 and already can see that engine is happier and also filter in catch can is filling up which is better than going back to intake. What will be tour next mod?
Canopy:)
Emissions control in a 1HZ 70 series is just lifting your foot off the firewall going up a hill isnt it? :D
Nice work I like the simplicity may get one for my 105 1HZ. My Disco 2 in the UK had an EGR blank kit but the retard hadn't cleaned the waste gate or the intake I spent two days using all manner of techniques to clean the Black Death out to a good standard. Never again lol oh that was outside in the snow -6 two years ago 😨
They can get so bad hey!
just wondering what ryco catch can you used for 75 series ? keep up the good stuff
Hi Danie.
I fitted ryco catch can about 1k ago on my 105 next to fuel filter. Used about 2m pipe same spot as yours, just worried about pressure build up in crankcase,
Did you notice anything or considering moving closer to crankcase?
Cheers
Got mine installed yesterday~ 🤙🏻🤙🏻
But have noticed hissing sound when accelerating, is this the same for you?
Sorry totally off topic, but, is there any noticable improvement to engine performance with the extractors fitted rather than the standard toyota manifold. Wouldnt mind a few extra horseys out of my 79 series 1HZ.
It'd be minimal of anything. I noticed it pulls a bit better at higher revs
@@DanieSimpson as I suspected,, thank you
Do more videos like this
Question: does the height of the CC matter ?, would it be better lower down ?.
Every car will be different with the difference in pressures but If you can't mount it level with the intake id go lower before I went higher. But in all honesty probably not going to affect it
This video needs more mars
Agreed haha
All I want to know is how these ryco catch cans can work efficently when they have a straight through open filter? They cannot separate much oil mist in the blow-by because there is not really any filtering restriction. Why would the oil mist go through the filter element on the sides when it can just pass through the middle of the filter unrestricted.
Seems like you've been reading some incorrect information. It is a coalescing filter that provides better seperation than the provent and far exceeds the hpd catch cans. It certainly isn't unrestricted it all passes through their filter which filters down to 1micron whilst maintaining good flow
Can i use the catch can on my defender td200?
Couldn't see why not
Thanks for the video Danie, just out of couriosity what sort of cost are they please. Keep up the great vids
Every kit is different so find the part number for your car and I go through sparesbox for all my parts
I fitted the Mans Hummel catch can to my 2019 Dmax and it says to empty around every 4000 kilometers and to replace the filter at every 40,000 kilometers... was just saying because in your video you said that they {Ryco} recommended draining every 40,000 but I'm thinking by the time that comes along its going to be overflowing if it's collecting anything like my catch can is!!! Just saying ; ]
Yes sorry the was supposed to be change the filter every 40000 not drain! Good pick up
Never mind Dani...we all make mistakes mate ; )
Hmm l bought a cheap setup for my other Daihatsu f78 rocky,l like yours better, where abouts do you park OLBOY at night time. 😁
Why?
Hahahaha 😁
Hi do u think I should fit one to my 2017 hilux
Yes
100% yes
Awesome thanks
Hello. How can I get this in South Africa? The website does not ship to SA.
Jan Venter Jis Jan. Setup an Aramex global shopper account. You’ll get a local Aus shipping address for the purchase and Aramex will then send to your SA address. Groete. (Ek dog Danie is n Suid Afrikaner wat in Aus bly, dis hoe ek hier opgeeindig het. Lol )
@@mariuslouw78 Baie dankie. Sal daai proebeer. Ek wens sy was Afrikaans.
Did you just use heater hose Supercheap told me you have to use POL Hose ?
I used oil resistant hose suited to low pressure
i'm wondering how your channel will go post dec 10 ?
Why
