I have been a Tangerine Dream fan for over many decades now and they are still the best Electronic Music Group ever. Edgar Froese , Christopher Frank , Peter Bauman , are incredible artists. And Johannes Scoemolen
Yes, unfortunately, not many video recordings from the time are to be found, not even TD itself has interest to publish something of it. Everything that can be seen here on UA-cam comes from abroad. Except the material shown here by me, that comes from Berlin and was as far as I am informed, no guarantee, from an exhibition in 1988. A supposed friend of Chris Franke had this recording exhibited at that time for the said event. All details are not known to me, however, so that it may have been different.
Yes, I agree with you. Unfortunately, there is not much good video footage from that time in circulation. But I think it is available. Unfortunately the producers and record companies hold it back for various reasons. Videos from the USA tour in 1977 and 1986 and from the GDR on 1/31/1980 would be great to see. Maybe miracles will happen in the future. Let us dream...
too bad not more showing Edgar's playing. But still, quite well done, and how can anyone complain about showing what the Tangerine Dream members were doing live
I understand that Tangerine Dream is considered one of the most creative and groundbreaking groups in what is usually considered "progressive music". Having this in mind, I have been really curious about the reason they chose to name one of their songs "Choronzon". Would any body know if the occult has had any particular influence on TG?
Yes that is true, but unfortunately it does not happen very often, that you can see a real keyboard play by Franke, Froese and Schmoelling. What I want to say is, that in my uploaded video from the main part of this concert event (Tangerine Dream Live 1981, August 29 Berlin) it is nothing or less visible about playing the instruments by the musicians.
What does that mean once again? Maybe the video was prepared by the producer or director and that causes your described incident - I don't know. In fact this video was edited/reworked, this can be seen by the added video effects from the creators.
Yeah it's hard to watch like it was a truly live performance......you really can't tell. There is such a lack of true live performance video. Great tune though from TD in their prime.👍
The video shows Tangerine Dream on this day during the performance. The fact that the music and the picture do not always fit is due to the man who made the recordings - Mike Steiner. He had cut the second half of the concert to a film and probably intentionally mixed picture and sound to document the performance. But I don't know. I am not responsible for the content of the video. The video was made in cooperation with TD, i.e. Froese and Steiner.
Yes I have almost 39 minutes from this event, additional to the Choronzon recording. But there are several disturbances in the video. I'am not able to fix the problems. Nevertheless I will upload the material soon.
Theodor RanD Oh,that would be so nice ! Love these songs madly, and to watch them playing life...is unbeatable ! Fascinating how they could handle all their instruments, never becomes boring, but i wish i am in a band like TD then...let the dream never stop ;)
@@powerplantplanetuniverse5945 Your reply comes a little late. Please don't misunderstand me, the mentioned 39 minutes Video was uploaded one week ago, called Tangerine Dream Live 1981 Video (August 29, Berlin). Best regards.

Another masterpiece from Tangerine Dream old school. Many thanks for video! 🤩👍
Thanks for your comment. Yes this beautiful time and music will unfortunately no longer come back.
Fantastische! Long Live Tangerine Dream !
Very rare recording. Thanks for the upload. Love it. More than 40 years a huuuuuuuge TD fan. Greetings from Belgium. Dirk.

My most favorite music group and my most favorite track in extended version? YES, PLEASE!!!
First half of Kiew Mission totally ripped off by Blanck Mass's Chernobyl.
Always loved this brilliant tune. Wish I could go back to the 80's concerts I saw and really appreciate them once again.
Panoráma!!! :)
It is a pity that TD video concerts from those times have not been fully preserved.

You mean "TD", not "TG" :). I wouldn't read too much into the names of their songs, just random inspiration mostly.

No. Not the end
I have a hard time watching any live synth performance from this era and not thinking of the Adult Swim "Live at the Acropolis: Lords of Synth" skit
Once again, the director chose to edit the performance without synching up the music to the video...

Great band and great song. (Obviously the video doesn't have anything to do with the music).
