For the LCR method, are you changing any settings to the sound other than panning either 100% left or 100% right and -3db? For example, are you changing the detune amount on the left panned recording so it is different than the center and the right?
You could do that though, for some interesting musical effects. This is more about just achieving general stereo width for sounds where spaciousness and consistency is desired

Nope!
Although we DO turn down the Amp gain ever so slightly for the L and R recordings
