If it’s not giving you joy, frog it and find something that really sparks your interest. I enjoy your episodes and the birds singing in the background are lovely.
It was so relaxing to listen to the birds in the background, what a treat 🩷 You could also just store the sweater as is and make a decision in the fall. You might find a fresh, new, exciting pattern that could look good in the yarn, or the cold weather will reinspire you to work on it and it'll already be halfway done also, congrats on 1k subscribers! 🩷
Thank you so much! 😍 yes, it does make a lot of sense to wait! But I’ve given it some thought and the more I think about it the more I want to let it go and use the yarn for something else. But the pattern will still be knit but in some other yarn combo I think 😍
Oh, I think I will! I’m getting that feeling to frog now and it’s getting more difficult to resist 😂😂 but I promise I will make this pattern with some other yarn and the peer gynt will be used for another project 😍❤️
Omg I love your cardigan and the birds are amazing to listen to ❤ Kedan was so funny it took me a few seconds to work out there was a hole in the wall 😂
I am glad to share any knowledge or experience 🤗 I had carpet beetles when I moved house, they ate the wool carpets and also one of my hand knits 😢Although I would prefer not to use plastic I think it’s the best way to deter those wool hungry insects. I washed my woolens last weekend to store for summer, they will be very welcome in September again.🧶
Thank you for sharing! I really need to figure out a storage for them as well, I was going to keep them in my luggage but plastic is probably the way to go!
Hi Merja. The birds sounded lovely. It was so relaxing to hear them. Your cardigan looks wonderful. I would like to suggest you wait a bit before frogging the sweater. You sounded unsure of your plan for it so a bit of time maybe just what you need, then once you are ready you can decide what you would like to do. Take care, see you next time.
Thank you Kathrine! I appreciate the advice and will definitely have that in mind. I’ve given it some consideration and think I know what I’ll do with it. Maybe I need to sleep on it for a little bit more but it’s leaning towards frogging at the moment.
Lovely to see you in the garden with the bird song in the background. I would frog the project, if you put it away when you are not happy you will most likely not want to revisit it. Frogging will give you a fresh start with the yarn. It does look like moth holes you have, there can be tell tale white furry casings left behind as it is the larvae that eat the wool. Best to seal up your knits and stash in something moth proof. In the UK we do have our own needle sizing a 3mm would be UK 11 and 4mm is a UK8 I believe this is the same sizing as Canada. These days mm sizing is more widely used in my experience. ❤🧶
Thank you for this comment! I’ve learned so much from it! Didn’t see any “leftovers” like that, it just had the holes. We have had carpet beetles too so not sure if they have found a great meal out of my camisole 😅 will definitely look at how to store them. The weather has been so fluctuating up until the past week and now it’s like summer! So it really is time to put away winter clothes 😎
I’ve done that too. I had the weekender in a beautiful green from knit picks. I only had the sleeves left to do and I frogged it. It just wasn’t what I had envisioned for that yarn.
Merja you are a hoot I love your sense of humour and the birds are wonderful to hear .i have learnt if you are not happy with a project frog it and then breathe what does your partner think about your jumper it would be great for layering in the winter and keep the arms simple so you could finish it quicker I use millimetres for needles as I’m in the uk I’m loving your favo on my list .have you got moths they love eating yarn bye for now
Hi merja, love your podcast ❤ if you are not enjoying knitting the Rivendell jumper then frog it and use the yarn for something else 😊 . I live in the uk and we use needles by the mom sizes.
Stor grattis for 1000 plus prenumeranter! Put lavender oil and cedar woods balls in your cupboard (looks really like months to me...) ... I am currently knitting the rosenlund top from Sari, so I might be a bit influenced so I say don´t frong your sweater yet. Best of luck with all your garden planning!
Tack så mycket! 😍 I have cedar wood but my closet is a mess and don’t really have good storage at the moment for all wooly things. I need to organize something first but I’ll definitely try that tip! ❤️
If you don’t need the yarn then I say wait until September and if you still don’t like it then frog and use the yarn to make something else. I like the cables design but the moss stitch ruins it for me. I am such a lover of stockinette stitch though. I’m in the uk and I use mm.
Thank you for commenting! ☀️ oh I love stockinette too! I don’t mind the moss stitch here but I think with this yarn it’s a bit too defined, maybe a less round yarn would make it nicer. It comes off a bit sharp right now. So I think it’s going to be a frog 🐸
If I'm unsure about the project, I put it in my project bag and let myself think about it. Maybe you'll want to frog it? Maybe you can leave it as a vest? Give yourself some time, you'll see how you feel about the sweater after a while
That is a very good way of dealing with this type of thing. I think I now know what to do but I’ll wait a few days, but I think it’s leaning on frogging 🐸
Hi from Canada, I also have the rivendell pattern but I have been undecided about what yarn to use, I don't want it to be too stiff or heavy. Do you think it would be nice in a combo like what you are using for your favo sweater? Those holes do look like moth damage unless it is yarn that has weak spots in it, did you notice thin areas while you were knitting? I keep all my yarn sealed in big ziplock bags and I keep my sweaters in a cedar lined blanket chest, I have had moth damage before and I don't want to take any chances, I have seen moths hovering around, we live in a log house and bugs seem to get in easily. The green cardigan is a lovely color on you.
Hello! 😍 That sounds like it could work very nicely! I do want to still express to be aware that it might be a bit scratchy with that combo, it looks so nice but it might not be for everyone when it comes to comfortability. But play around with it 😍 check some yarns you might have at home, mix and match and make a few test rows to see how the yarns turn out together. It’s been a while since I’ve knitted on the Rivendell but I think two fingering yarn held together should work fine! Im getting tempted now to knit up the Rivendell in a thinner yarn now 😂 maybe that’s why I’m struggling with it, peer gynt is very round and bouncy. And when it comes to the yarn of the camisole, the yarn was very even all over, it’s Sunday sandnes but it is a thinner yarn in general. I’ll definitely need to figure out how to store my knits over the summer. Thank you so much 😍
RE the questionable project, I don't know everything that I would do immediately if I were you but I know I would want to correct the neckline in case I ever wanted to finish it. I mean, the neckline is the neckline, it's right in the front, I want it good. So I'd at least rip back the section with the uneven line, just to have the yarn sit in a more relaxed way in a ball than in a knitted fabric that I know I might decide to rip back. Then maybe I'd let it sit. RE your top with the holes, looks like something has eaten the yarn and in fact many times when something eats whatever kind of fabric it eats the fabric that was not washed after long wear. I am not an expert, just sharing my observations.
Thank you! You have very valid points there, that would be something I would think about afterwards but then I’d be in a position that it’s “too late” to frog 😂 and then just keep it in a closet and never wear. That’s true, I’ve read that somewhere too but didn’t even think about it. The camisole was in a washing pile so it does make sense. Thanks!
Oh thank you so much 🤗🤗❤️ yeah it really sucks :( at least it hasn’t gotten any worse since I discovered the holes, and I’m sure I’ll be able to fix it once I get to it. There’s just sooo much in the garden at the moment to take care of and the heat is making me so slow 😅
If it’s not giving you joy, frog it and find something that really sparks your interest. I enjoy your episodes and the birds singing in the background are lovely.
Thank you so much! You are so right. Not enough time to knit on something that is “meh” at the end!
It was so relaxing to listen to the birds in the background, what a treat 🩷

Millimetre sizes 😂not mom
Hahaha love the autocorrect 😂❤️ yeah I am leaning towards that currently, it just feels a bit easier to be honest 😅
I’m in the uk and use mm for needle sizes
Ive heard putting it in the freezer can kill the bugs
True! Will definitely try that!

"I need to hide" and ducking out of view is exactly what I do when people can see me in my yard lol
Hahaha I was hesitant to keep that part in the video so this comments makes me glad that I did, now I know I’m not the only one 😂

Is it moths???
I really hope not 😩
