Good review. I've owned two Red Sports, a 2018 and presently a 2021. The first upgrade you do is the tires and it drives/rides like a totally different car. The stock runflats suck. Horrible traction and very bad in wet weather I hyrdoplaned in the rain going 50mph and knew I had to get rid of them after 8k miles. I put some Michelin A/S3+ tires on and it handles soooooo much better. The RS is one of the best bangs for your buck for sure. Here are my thoughts: It's fast and kind of a sleeper. People are surprised sometimes when they see tail lights after trying to run you. Bose system is great. I wish the car had better brakes and cooled seats. Transmission is a little sluggish sometimes. I do like the dual screens and plenty of room in it for 5 people, which I like. People in their RT's and 392's and other folks think they're faster, but they're not, lol. Overall its a great car that has some quirks.

This is pretty much what sold me on the car; as I like to say its 0 to a speeding ticket in about 2 seconds. The interior is certainly outdated, the need to go to a large Tesla screen, there are 3rd party mods for that and it looks amazing. The Bluetooth is also only using SBC codecs so audio quality suffers. Speaking of which the Bose Performance series has centerpoint but its VERY FRONT biased. Part of the reason why the audio system is not all that great is due in part to the SBC codec for Bluetooth which SUCKS for audio quality, HD radio sounds decent, and if you have lossless audio files on a USB stick then you can really get a feel for the Bose system, but its still front biased, and you need to tweak it. ANY Q50 made before 2020 does NOT have Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, those will need to be retrofitted via 3rd party, and Infiniti InTouch services for cars 2019 and older does not exist. Fuel mileage with the ECO mode and Eco pedal nets me about 22 City and 31 highway. The sound dampening is ok, Lexus does it better. You can turn off that fake exhaust sound via a hidden menu, I did that on mine. A more practical used car choice would be a Mazda 6 Signature for around the same money. Its got less Horsepower and Torque over the Red Sport, but its pretty compelling when comparing to the NON-RS models at 250HP and 311 ft/lbs torque with a 2.5L Turbo 4. Overall I would give my 2018 LOADED Q50 Luxe a 7.5/10, its decent but dated tech wise, and its only saving grace is the performance of that VR30DDTT. If Infiniti does some chassis tweaking, transmission tweaking, and updates the interior tech then we have ourselves a winner. I can’t help but think this is one of the more unexciting “sport” sedans available honestly. Even the way Topher said “still for sale” just reinforces it lol

I find it really hard to believe with how outdated the interior/overall tech in this car is that someone would buy this car brand new in 2022 instead of any of the competition such as a bmw m340i, higher trim Mercedes Benz c class, Audi a4/s4, etc. That being said I do love the q50, one of my favorite cars from the 2010s without a doubt.
The mistake infiniti makes nowadays is that they make these nice performance cars but when you sit inside and drive there’s nothing special about them anymore. What happened to the G35/G37 days with the nice sounding stock exhaust, sporty feeling interior, etc.? I get that some japanese companies are trying to compete with the likes of BMW and MB in luxury, but its almost like they forget even MB and BMW also make some batshit crazy performance cars with sporty interiors, stupid loud exhausts, precision engine and transmissions, etc. infiniti needs to do the same with their top of the line “sportiest” car. Its a red sport 400 but aside from numbers on a paper theres not much to differentiate it from a normal car. Interior looks like a hyundai from the 2010’s 😂
@@airpolska definitely one of the things that suck. The steering is very crappy feeling and the trans could be updated but all in all, i love it. This is my top choice for this category of car. It's too underrated and deserves way more popularity. It has more character than a lot of it counterparts, is price well for the equipment and quality you have, and will not fall apart after a few years like the german likes to do with ridiculous maintenance and repair price.
The only reason i didnt buy a Q50 in the UK is because I prefered the look with the facelift of the Japanese Skyline version, so ive imported a 400R grade one of those instead.

Left steering wheel controls control the radio Next/Previous Track. This one does not have the Performance Package so no cool exhaust or cold air intakes from AMS from Infiniti on this one. Infiniti has the same logic as the other Japanese brands. If it ain’t broke, no need to fix it. May not be the nicest, the cheapest nor the best, but it will damn last a long time. And you have a TON of aftermarket support for this VR30 platform. Also, the car loves to brake boost actually, just have to turn off the traction control past the left side of the steering wheel near your left knee

Exterior wise and engine wise all fantastic, interior wise, definitely looking like 10 years old in there, but I will say the interior still looks good for being that old. But again, Nissan and Infiniti both need to update their vehicles more often. This Q50 was really good back in 2014 when it came out, but now it's just in need of a dire update and it isn't that special anymore.
The q50 exterior looks dated, the q60 is still a stunner imo. People complain about the interior and it definitely does need an update but Infiniti needs to invest in a new sedan/coupe chassis platform because this one is almost 20 years old
The engine is the shining beacon of hope in this car. Sounds great and fast as lightning for the dumpster they stuck it in. That on-ramp handling was borderline offensive given what Infiniti wants this to compete with. If they did a dirt cheap lease I’d bite just for the phenomenal, legendary engine. Seems like everything else is a let down. Transmission, tuning, rattly cabin etc. Put that engine in everything please.

Bro bmw interiors from 2012 arent anywhere close, have you actually even sat in one?
@@shad3128 Except now with an ugly grill.
i own a q60 redsport love it and the red interior makes lovely , i will say def get the DAS 2.0 system direct adaptive steering aka steer by wire but also get a ams lower downpipes and motordyne exhaust and upgrade your tires and you will love the car sounds amazing once you do the exhaust mods
You can really tell, he was not enthused or excited about this! hahaha
🤣
I can’t help but think this is one of the more unexciting “sport” sedans available honestly. Even the way Topher said “still for sale” just reinforces it lol
I'm sure he knows very much about technological cars, coming from a Scion FR-S that's still back in 2014, and has a screen from 2006.
@@DMCarReviews Lol I never understood the love for the whole GT86/BRZ/FRS family either, I always thought it was just a cheap slow budget sports car
@@DMCarReviews a BRZ/FRS/GT86 from the same year are the same price as a Q50. (Used)
@@Runbow And?
@@DMCarReviews they’re really not a good deal unless you really want a manual sports car with the performance of a corolla
This car needs a refreshed interior desperately. The tech and infotainment is like 10 years old. Replace the dual monitor with one large ipad/tesla type infotainment. and give it a cockpit like the newer BMW's. would be beautiful. and on every enthusiasts top car list. (for mid range sedans)
It looks better inside than a Toyota that’s for damn sure
Interior looks like a hyundai from the 2010’s 😂
i would also add the steering on these cars straight up sucks... comparing this to an M340i is just crazy
Facts
@@airpolska definitely one of the things that suck. The steering is very crappy feeling and the trans could be updated but all in all, i love it. The perfect daily driver with performance and comfort that can absolutely ignore snow to the extent a car can lmao my biggest complaint is the car should have RS all over the place like on seats and on the steering wheel and an RS400 badge on the back, huge missed opportunity to me. Red Sport 400 or RS400 is a cool name to me and they dont show it off at all
@@airpolska m340 steering is also really really artificial
His excitement when driving stick Vs auto tells you all you need to know
this car is for sale in canada for $71,000 which is mind blowing lmao
I bought a 2018 q50 silver sport , car is a amazing daily . Does a little bit of ever. Tech is still just modern enough , mad they didn't adapt carplay/ Android auto in these cars until 2020 but it's got everything else. AWD , tune ability , luxury, what more do u need for a daily ?
My friends dad has a Q50. He let me drive it once and it’s not a bad car. I’m a Toyota/Lexus guy and was surprised. The engine is powerful and the car is quick. What I didn’t like was the dual screens and the rear headroom is not that good.
I’m in the regular 3.0t right now the vr30 I can only imagine what the redsport is like
Get a JB4 tune and you will know.
Before anyone says it’s “ancient” the reason so many people still buy infinitis and lexuses are because it old tech and tech that people are comfortable with, not everybody wants a Tesla screen with no hard buttons (cheap look), this looks well built and done and looks great. They should add the 9 speed zf off the z
100%. Those era cars were amazing. Really made for you to focus and enjoy driving.

Perfect sedan in my book
This is my top choice for this category of car. It's too underrated and deserves way more popularity. It has more character than a lot of it counterparts, is price well for the equipment and quality you have, and will not fall apart after a few years like the german likes to do with ridiculous maintenance and repair price.
downpipe and tune, you are beating every stock car
i love my Q50 !
wow the interior is basically the same as by 2014 q50... i was hoping it would be updated
It has been the same for years it hasn't change at all
The only reason i didnt buy a Q50 in the UK is because I prefered the look with the facelift of the Japanese Skyline version, so ive imported a 400R grade one of those instead.
Can we get a POV in the new M340i please
I HATE today's big ass touchscreens. So I love the fact it's a normal looking interior while chat says otherwise
Believe it or not this is one of the most convenient infotainments in any car ive driven, and I work at a Honda dealership. It's so easy to use and I bought one cause of it
my next car soon ✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
Looks perfect
Planning to get 2019 q50 3.0t signature edition used 30k miles for 30k dark purple😅
This car is called the Skyline in Japan. Its the base model Skyline. The top of the line model is the R35 GTR "Godzilla aka Supercar Slayer" for those NOT in the know.
The GTR and the Skyline are not the same car.
Infiniti, i gotta give it to you, you have some big balls to keep on pushing these q50/60s with a interior looks like a budget rental car from 10 years ago.
Budget rental car? Not liking Infiniti is cool, but this is an extreme exaggeration... I'm curious which 2012 *budget* rental car compares to this /s
@@MA-it3ps try jetta from 2012
@@seanjiang3174 Great choice! My daily is a 2013 Jetta that has an entire plastic interior with leatherette seats that ripped before 100k miles. The headliner fell and the paint has chipped off the b-pillar. I don’t think it compares, unfortunately.
@@MA-it3ps i had a 2013 passat, sel trim, roomy, leather seats, with responsive hd screen. thats why i think this q50's interior is on par if not just slightly better than what vw been doing 10 years ago
obviously choice of materials is better in the q50, but is this twice than those jetta's/passats?
I had a 2016 and the tech felt outdated then. It hasn’t changed and it’s insane they are asking 55k for one.
U can get a good deal @ the dealer...
true. its outdated af def not worth anywhere close to $55K
I have a 2016 and even then the interiors could have used a bit of a refresh but I will say rwd may not be as quick as awd but it’s much more fun to slide the ass end out
What it needs is a 6 spd manual
i will keep my g37 sedan till i die but i am looking to upgrade to a 2021-2022 q50 redsport so i can garage my G. i’ve had it since college so i’m very attached to it, all stock red 2013 g37S sedan 6mt 77k miles clean title 🤝
i don’t think i would spend 60k for a q50 though.
The interior rattle is straight from my 2020 Altima.
I came for the review but, I gotta say, love the speedy man 👌🏾 -a fellow Speedmaster enthusiast
Steering wheel looks huge.
The design is Since 2014 when the hybrid came out by now the car is 10 year with the same design but i love oldschool even the previuos model wich was the g37. Love that car works so well
Left steering wheel controls control the radio Next/Previous Track.
I don't think I'd buy one new unless I was getting a good deal. But these are great if your shopping for a used car.
When I was a teenager I lusted after this car for being Luxury, performance and somewhat attainable. Now Im 25 and it amazes me that I could still pretty much buy the same car brand new from Infiniti.
Damn whoever can sell this car needs to be given a medal because I wouldn’t buy this AT ALL for 55k, probably 25k lol
For 25K you won't even score a base Civic, so good luck with that!
@@DMCarReviews you can tell they’ve never bought a new car before. They must not be familiar with the current market, either. The lack of life experience is painfully obvious.
Just because you can’t afford it doesn’t mean no one else will buy it.
Great engine and everything but for the same money you can get a G70 with similar performance and a much better interior and luxury aspect.
@@LouEaze The Hyundai is so much worse built, and it's interior is not even plush. Feels like an Optima SX-L.
I don’t get all the complaints about interior!!! I have a 2024 RS and I have yet to have someone in real life not drool over my exterior and interior m!!!
9:00 that shifted pretty damn fast for an old trans lol
I like the looks of all new Infiniti cars (especially the Q60), but the interior is definitely outdated, and the transmission is lacklustre for the price. Good used car buy, poor new car buy imo.
How is the 0-60 5.7s? It's under 5 seconds.
it’s rated at 4.5
@@tsukuyomiwrld2029 Look at his description.
White leather seems like a horrible idea
Dam u were pushing that turn tho 😲James bond 😳
For the price of one of these, I’d get a ‘22 tlx type s.
Tlx type s was a complete failure. Slow and behind the competition in everything
I own a q50 hybrid and I like them but 60k msrp that’s bizarre, steering feel isn’t that good, strong but I. Slow transmission brakes are okay no lion roof in a 2022 60k car cool engine that’s just a regular engine with a tune I mean the new z is 40k huh? Yup 40-50k no limited slip diff no launch control, suspension is just decent I mean dude Cadillac is killing it rn with the black wings, you can get a hellcat for 20k more, gt500 for 35- 40k more, shoot get yourself a 08-13 c6 zo6 for 30 with 20k miles, a c7 for 48-60k even a used Audi s line honestly it’s a bummer because I live infirmity’s we so much like if it came as a better package I think it would be stupid 48k max for something like this tbh just get the honestly if they make a new one def gotta change the suspension interior all performance and it would be so cool to see the same engine built with better metals to handle more boost or compression idk maybe I’m too harsh
I love the Q50 red sport
VQ37 with catback exhaust + hfcs sounds far better than the VR30.
If they would do something with the dang interior already, my gah. My 2018 was IDENTICAL
The q50 exterior looks dated, the q60 is still a stunner imo. People complain about the interior and it definitely does need an update but Infiniti needs to invest in a new sedan/coupe chassis platform because this one is almost 20 years old
That button on the left that you didn’t know what it does controls the music switching songs and using navigation voice controls
This is a great looking car with a 400 HP engine…just like the new Z. What’s not to like? I’d get the RWD version.
Hyundai and kia invest their money into 8 speed dct still cost under 40k but infinity red cost over 50k don't have dct what a shame.
This car is so underrated!! Glad i own one! Blow your doirs off!!!
The inside looks the same since 2014 with minor changes on the outside I think they need to go back to the drawing board for the inside the outside I actually like.. that infotainment system is outdated asf I put a MK6 in mine and loved it
Great car!
Did Nissan forget to put some sound deadening material inside? This car somehow looked almost the same for last 12+ years....
Interior desperately needs an upgrade. Get a full digital cluster, change up the steering wheel a bit, maybe do one larger screen
Literally the same interior as my old 2016 lol
It's good that u.s still pushes out new sedans. They've basically given up on them here in Australia. It's SUV , Utes or hatch. That's it
Rear view mirror do be looking antiquated
Is this still the fastest luxury mid size sedan under 60-65k
If Nissan wasn't struggling financially, I believe they could make a competitive luxury brand instead of a dressed up Nissan.
Minivan? Well Nissan had the foot brake for a long time now but not only in minivans. 😁 Some were fully foot operated and others had the hand switches to unlock it again.
Good looking car!
Do you know if this had the drive by wire, or just standard steering?
my dream car
Leave it to Nissan/infinity to take forever to update an interior they’ve never really been great about their interiors all around anyway though
All Infiniti has to do it update the interior and exterior and boom they are back ! It’s that easy I swear if these car companies would actually just listen to our request 2015-2022 the same car lol 3 series and e-class have completely changed but q50 is the exact same especially!!!! The interior like cmon for 7 years nobody could come up with a different interior design 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
