Granted, MCN looks like they record and edit their videos on a 10 year old blackberry, so it isn't saying much haha. I agree though, it's a very well made video.
wow! its such a nice to to be living for motorcycling. So many models and choices have sprung up in the just the last 2 years however i feel like the next 5 years will completely change the landscape of popular motorcycle models available.
I yelled "THAAANK YOOOU!" out loud when you said "this is the scrambler Ducati should have made from the beginning." you know, something that you take take from the showroom off to a dirt trail and camp site
my aircooled 796 is 167 kilos dry(also the 803 but tuned to 60kw) but is in no way a dirt bike...but still needs this bike skid plate (it would never fit because of my exhaust exits right down the middle underneath...but the first thing i noticed that i didnt like was how the rear shock is mounted, on mine its mounted directly in the middle, motocross style and it works so well! this rear shock looks stupid and i must blame an audi guy for this mistake
I'm surprised they made the original Scrambler first. Rather than starting out with this one and then softening/accessorising/economising it into the standard version. Seems like the reverse of what usually happens.
I ll take my A licence and i ll struggle to make some money only because of this bike. Is amazing and the most beautiful bike i have ever seen and i was never a fan or two weells
a mounth ago I bought brand new desert sled, after 6 thousand km 5% offroad the rest 95% regular riding, clutch is dead....!! any comment on this????!!!! do U think its normal for Ducati because I'm seriously consider to switch to other brand, too bad because I like it a lot
Yep, we were filming and we heard a commotion, we turned around in time to see 3 bloody big horses running straight for us. They swerved just in time and then spent the next 10 mins causing chaos.
next time maybe with less music. it was too loud. i could not feel the sound :D but beside that it was awesome. you spoke clearly so a german guy could understand you quite well. Thank you!
just.... under-chassis pipes usually are a bad feature to have on an offroad bike. They'll get bashed in, in no time. I love/want this bike, but I'd probably end up putting street slicks on it and riding it like a sumo/urban explorer... to the starbucks on the other side of a sandy lot.
Where's the shot of the bike broke down on the side of the road? Hah, I'm kidding. It looks really good. Personally I wouldn't want to take a ducati too far off the beaten trail.
because there a badge on it that says Ducati, if it was Honda for example it would be different. plus that it's probably made and assembled in Europe, not in Thai.....maybe.
How does that little thing weigh over 200 kilos!? Full marks to Ducati for trying, though. Apart from the weight, I don't want to grow a big beard or wear stupid tight trousers, so no thanks, I'll stick to my 690 Duke, which weighs less than some peoples lawn mowers. Very well presented and reasoned review, thanks for posting.
Nobody gets it. This is 2017. WHY is everybody out there (with the sole exception of BMW, and then only on the big GS1200) still using tube type tires? And they don't even have a centerstand? I have almost died in the desert a couple of times because I had a flat tire, and no way to fix it. I was riding alone, tired, overheated, and had no way to support the bike so I could remove the rear wheel. These days I ride a lowly Yamaha XT225 (though with over $3000 worth of improvements, one of them being a centerstand) and I have a SPOT device. Still, if bikes had tubeless tires (Honda had them in 1986 on wire spoke wheels on the 450 Rebel) and BMW has them today, so they are certainly possible) repairing a flat tire would be a simple matter of plugging the puncture and reinflating the tire. You could use Ride On, and maybe never get a flat tire. This one glaring issue makes what could be a pretty neat bike completely worthless.
I get your concern and share it. But considering that tubeless tires can still get cuts, the real solution should be a center stand. Until then, you better hope there is a log nearby.
Too heavy and expensive versus what? BMW F800 is 478lbs and $13,000. KTM 690 is 308lbs and $11,000. Desert Sled is 421 lbs and $11,500. Price and weight it's right between the extremes of the heavy dirt oriented dual sport KTM and the road oriented adventure BMW.
Still using belt driven cams..Ducati will never learn. Manuals says to change the belts every 24 months or 15k ..I guess its 24 months for Ducati ... My Kawasaki is 13 years old and the engine never been touched ..Only oil, filter and spark plugs. Not one knock on a valve.
Gixxer983 what is the problem with belts ? ducati I believe is to conservative on maintance. I have 196.000.miles on my St 2 3 sets of belts , valves adjusted at 24.000 NO ADJUSTMENTS SINCE.
This is the best Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled review of them all! Thank you Bike World!
Thanks!
As always, a really slick video. You put MCN to shame. Well done guys. Really enjoyed it.
Cheers
Andrew Spooner MCN's "youtube" videos are a joke, they grab the worst possible mic spit out some info and then tell you to go look at their website.
Granted, MCN looks like they record and edit their videos on a 10 year old blackberry, so it isn't saying much haha. I agree though, it's a very well made video.
This model and the Café Racer is my favorite
Really good in depth and informative review!
Lovely. Great review. Great bike. Awesome background score.
Best review I've seen in years!!
really nice!!!
Nice review.
I sat on it at the local motorcycle show and instantly fell in love with it.
Great review. Very informative.
World class review. 👍
Great quality & content video review!
Great video, nice review
fantastic review nice presentation

Great review Bike World. 5 Stars video!
Great looking bike; really informative, well presented review. Would love to take one for a test ride when having the Multistrada serviced!
I really love the looks of the bike!
Awesome review ! Just sold my Icon to buy one. Nice work 👊🏻😬👊🏻
Nice one Mufga!
This is such a functional and proper scrambler. I'd like to own one
Hope Mufga gets to test more than Ducati`s with you.
Best presenter/tester on T`tube.
Yep!
Ok you make the best moto vids on YT. Subscribed.
nice video :) lots of love from India
Now THAT was a review.
Mudux thanks
perfect color! perfect boys toy!
Great review sir 👍🏻
Good review, lovely looking bike too. The red one reminds me of the XT500.
I agree, it really does look like the XT500
Test rode one a couple of weeks ago. Want one. Preferred it to the M797 that i rode as well. Differently geared as well.
I yelled "THAAANK YOOOU!" out loud when you said "this is the scrambler Ducati should have made from the beginning." you know, something that you take take from the showroom off to a dirt trail and camp site
I like the style
Can you do a review on the new BMW R nineT Urban G/S, please?
what a bike 🔥🔥🔥
Holy shit I need this
really like the style of the scrambler , would consider one , but with 196.000 miles my St 2 just won't die 😄
Brilliant video. Brilliant bike. Shame about the top of the rear shock though.
Marketing dollars well spent, love it.
Is ducati gonna move the shock components so it doesn't hit your leg?
It's a supermoto for mature people! I LOVE IT!
What kind of pants are those brown cargos?
Is this a good starter bike
👀 Is it just me , but it reminds me of the old bulltaco 500's back in the day. What's next . the Ducati dirt bike?
This is the new high! Wait there's Triumph Scrambler 2017 too ... Comparison video? Anybody!
interested invrank size and range any clues?
FEC we have a video
at least it is a different style bike , not like the same stuff with different bars that you can see at a harley shop
This is probably gonna sound stupid but, can it withstand like dirt road and dirt track like ordinary dirt bikes can do
my aircooled 796 is 167 kilos dry(also the 803 but tuned to 60kw) but is in no way a dirt bike...but still needs this bike skid plate (it would never fit because of my exhaust exits right down the middle underneath...but the first thing i noticed that i didnt like was how the rear shock is mounted, on mine its mounted directly in the middle, motocross style and it works so well! this rear shock looks stupid and i must blame an audi guy for this mistake
Either slash 20kg off the weight or add 10-20hp to the power output and it'd be an amazing machine. I love the styling
Now Please make it in the 400cc.
I'm surprised they made the original Scrambler first. Rather than starting out with this one and then softening/accessorising/economising it into the standard version.

HAHAHAHA the random horse at 4:50 caught me so off guard
A load of them escaped, we had to do a runner at one point. Had the leave that one in though
No way! Hahahaha that's amazing!
Yep, we were filming and we heard a commotion, we turned around in time to see 3 bloody big horses running straight for us. They swerved just in time and then spent the next 10 mins causing chaos.
Oh man I wish you guys had a blooper reel for that!
We have some footage, we'll load something up.
1983 Yamaha XT500 look-alike.

why is it expensive?
because there a badge on it that says Ducati, if it was Honda for example it would be different. plus that it's probably made and assembled in Europe, not in Thai.....maybe.
I say the desert sled needs a 20in front

This bike needs to have a big mileage
34 inches......whaaat ??
He looks like he should work in IT...
Gimme
why air cooled??????
Simpler and cheaper.
this bike is too heavy anyways.
When your first scrambler wasn't really a scrambler so you had to make a scrambler scrambler to actually be able to scramble. Oh Ducati.
looks a bit like the old yamaha xt500
key This is deeply boovy travel :o)
SO expensive and SO heavy for what it is.
SO don`t buy one.
UA-cam unsubscribed me from this channel argh

Can't say I don't like Ducati anymore, Anyone see he got Photobombed by a jackass at 4:45 haha
Too heavy and too expensive for what it is, not that far off the price and weight of an africa twin. Will be mostly ridden by hipsters on city streets
agree and Honda costs thousands less to maintain.Try adjusting Ducs valves every 7k miles adds up $$ quick.
It's 30 kg lighter than the Africa Twin
Dry weight is 22kgs difference, 190 for ducati, 212 for Honda, wet weight is 25kgs difference but much bigger fuel tank on the Honda
quigonjay9 50lbs is not insignificant.

looks like a heavy ass dirt bike to me. if you want to go offroading why not just get a proper dirtbike?
If you tried riding a proper dirtbike from LA to Barstow on I15 you might figure out why.
aluisious why would you ride any kind of dirtbike from la to barstow?
Hmm, what could someone do with an offroad bike near Barstow?
the exact samething you can do at azuza canyon... or the other 100000s of other places near LA
bike is way too heavy
£9500 ! No thanks
Yep, I agree, that seems a lot for such a basic bike considering what you can get from Yamaha, etc, at the moment for 8-9k.
Still using belt driven cams..Ducati will never learn.

ugly display.
Who and what for buys such boring impractical bikes?
The perfect poser enduro bike for old uptight wannabes!
