      sorry but i gotta say a 250 is not the kind of bike you want to take enduro riding.
      they are designed to make a lot of high end power for riding motocross.
      a 300 will be a way better experiance for you since they are designed for enduro and have better low end torque

    great video just bought a desert sled today, did not even look up much information about it prior buying it I just immediately fell in love with how it looks as soon as I saw it for the first time, is just like the yamaha Pablo escobar used to ride, I mean It can't get more bad ass than that.

    As someone that has been riding motocross and off-road my entire life, I would have recommended you go with the 250 or 350XCF over the SXF for the trails. However the sxf will be much better on large jumps on the motocross track but you really have to be at a B or A level rider (or a heavier rider) to appreciate that suspension improvement on the SX models at the track.
    If you are mainly riding trails with the SXF then you should definitely try running less air in the WP XACT fork that it comes with as well as backing off the compression adjuster a couple clicks. The recommended suggestion in the owners manual is for motocross (stiffer). But on the trails you want it to be more forgiving on smaller bumps. Also be sure to use the correct spring at the rear for your body weight and the correct sag. ideally and perhaps as a last resort you would send the suspension off to a reputable tuner so that they can revalve it for the trails. Some great companies for that are Kreft Moto and Race Tech. Hope that helps !

    Nah buddy, the riding mode doesn’t change anything except give you an easier way (only way) to access the ABS OFF menu. That’s it. I got the same bike and I’ve read the whole manual. Having said that, I too haven’t had any issues with it except the rear brake switch which doesn’t engage the brake light because of it’s stupid design. I’m loving it too.

    I have an 02 monster 750S I.e. I just recently switched out the fuel filter and the two timing belts. Was over 200.00 just in parts. Thankfully I was able to do the work my self and save a bunch.

    Enjoy the duc yam

  • @lucienvallun5385
    @lucienvallun5385 4 роки тому +31

    Yes, I fully agree with your review. I bought my DS in July 2017 and I've enjoyed it from day one. I'm a 70 year-old faded dirt rider who grew up on Husqvarnas and KTMs but I no longer have a place in my life for a trailer and all the stuff that goes with dirt riding. So, I needed a simple bike that was pretty good on and off road with little or no techno crap. The DS is it. I've stripped a bit of weight off of mine and it's a lot lighter than a Yammie 700. You can get going in quite a hurry on moderate dirt tracks and its marvellous on road. A bit more fuel capacity would be nice so I'm looking for a bigger tank that might fit. Otherwise a solid honest motorcycle which I like a lot and hope to be riding for the next 10 years!

      @lucienvallun5385 3 роки тому +12

      @@sabinmanimala7003 I can only relate to you my own experience which I hope may be helpful. I grew up on dirt bikes which was a fantastic training ground for acquiring the basic riding skills. They have served me well on and off road. So ride your bike off road regularly to learn its behaviour in the dirt. This will help you enormously on road and help you not to rely on modern tech like ABS or traction control. Secondly, ride according to the conditions - you can't go as fast in the wet as you can in the try. Thirdly, ride according to the tyres you are using - good tyres are the best investment you can make - and match them according to the type of riding you are doing. Finally, ride as often as you can and enjoy!!!

    100% agree. I rent it for a weekend a couple of weeks ago, and the best description for this bike is FUN, and I used it most of the time on road, even for a little touring on the highway do it's job way better than many naked or adventure bikes. The only cons I found that weekend was the shift gear, a little bit hard to find neutral, and the single disc on the front (it does it's job but,. It's still a big motorbike), and yeah, that hot back cylinder boiling my crotch while riding through city traffic in the summer afternoon . I rented it kind of accidentally (I wanted a Multistrada but wasn't available), and dude, I regret nothing. I'm even considering to forget the idea of buying a NineT Scrambler next year to get one of these instead

    • @atlas_au
      @atlas_au 4 роки тому

      I agree with AD. get a dual sport or an adv, but id lean towards something simple, reliable, not too fast and light. i started with a Honda XR 150L. Absolutely no regrets. Reliable. Totally gutless and ugly but with good grip on Vee Rubber in all weathers and road conditions.
      To be honest though man, weather shouldnt play all that much of a role. What it sounds like your saying is you want a daily rider and you want it in all weather?
      If you're worried about weather get good motorcycle gear. What you want in a first motorcycle is cheap reliability, low weight and
      not so much power that you freak out.
      Make sure its got some nice grippy dual sport tyres on it with the correct air pressure if you're worried about road conditions.

    Yo ight this 100 percent is my type of bike I like something that can go off road but not a dirt bike and also something that can easily become street legal also live in Southern Pennsylvania so is that a good place for this bike and also this would be my semi first bike I've off-road with my mini bike before so technically half a motorcycle but I'm good at it so I'm just wondering if this would be a good semi beginning bike for me I mean I've had my eyes on it for over a year now and love it's look and really think it's awsome also I'm 15 I'd get it when 16 because obviously can't drive till then maybe buy it before 16 and ride it off-road till I'm 16 with a license anyways I'm just asking if anyone could possibly give me a little advice or let me know if this is a bike for me

    I have the same exact one. My 2016 Africa Twin got stolen in Brooklyn. I fell in love with it when I saw it too. Now I love its flick ability and wheelies more that the AT.. Not that I Monty miss my silver perfect Honda. Life moves forward!!!!

    The transmission isn’t floppy. All Ducati’s have problems finding the neutral. My Monster 1200 is the same. What I’ve found work for me is I find neutral just as I’m approaching stop. Once you get into a full stop finding it becomes harder.
    Great bike though. It’s nice looking

    There’s a guy I met at the LA motorcycle show in Long Beach -Carducci Dual Sport you should check out the hero bike they built it’s like this to you. It caused a very visceral reaction in me, it’s look is just mean and perfect. I wonder if the tank they use would fit on this bike…. Hmmmm

    Ok so, I like retro looking bikes and want more like need that off-roading capability. I am not a huge fan on the looks of Dual sports or dirt bikes. Plus I need something road legal. I want to splurge on one bike and make it the best I can. I am looking at the Desert sled right now but the Triumph 1200 xe is a competitor. Any tips or ideas. Open to anything.
