Had to race 1/8th mile for the Ford to win. The Chevy would kill it in the 1/4.
Watched all the videos, and I’m super disappointed to see that u guys only done a 1/8 mile test and not a full 1/4 mile stats . Very disappointed to see this after all the work done to these monsters. Why? Is all I ask u can’t do a simple 1/4 mile test to see clearly how fast was them both , whether the Chevy can catch up or even the Ford, but no, months into these trucks and not a proper test at all..... very sad :(
The 454 had some really impressive handling. Makes me want to build my trucks suspension
try taking it around a corner.
I already now who wins
I saw this yrs ago. But looking forward to watching it again
who wins?
Ford wins
No lie it is crap the wait but I’m still goin to wait 😂🤣🤣
I would love to see y’all do a Dodge SS/T. Everyone forgets about the red headed step child of the big three.
The Chevy kicks ass in looks. Those 90's trucks are nice looking
The Ford is sucha better looking Truck.....built better too.
That year f150 is garbage. Goes through PCMs like it's no tomorrow, fuel pump problems, ignition module problems, stupid intake plenum that makes replacing plug wires and valve cover gaskets a pain, also the radius arm/I-beam suspension sucks donkey balls. Only thing good about the truck is reliability of the 5.0 and 5.8 engines despite their notorious front leaking front timing covers. The C1500 Chevy truck wins hands down, if someone wanted to know which is a better truck.
@@mattthemechanic3996 that generation Shabbylet dash cracked and fell apart, rear mains leaked, exhaust leaks, plastic grill and trim fell apart, plastic headlight lenses hazed and cracked, but yeah.. awesome trucks..
Ford has been the #1 selling truck what now 40 years? nuff said.
@@toddbob55 means nothing... Junk is junk, people sell junk all the time.
@@toddbob55 Ford cheats on their 'best selling" truck list. They count not just the 1/2 ton through 1ton trucks but also the trucks over a 1ton rating. They do this by saying the "F" series is the best selling truck, but they are counting the F series trucks 450 and up also. GM does not do this, If they did then the sales numbers would be much different.
We use to race all of these vehicles when they were new. I had a deep respect for the 454, however the Lightning would get it everytime. Around 97 when Ford changed the body style and put the 5.4 in I couldn't wait for them to race. It was close but it would outrun the Lightning everytime.
I thought original lightning was a 5.8 windsor
The Chevy would have been faster with a 350 sbc with same head upgrade ... Those 454 motors were garbage in the late model trucks
Read this 1st. It'll save you 18minutes! Lightning: 1st run; 9.21 @ 74.02mph.2nd run; 10.29 @73.98mph. 3rd run; 9.52 @76.92mph. 8.98 @ 76.29mph with M/T slicks. SS: 1st run; 10.04 @ 72.93mph. 2nd run; 9.97 @ 73.56mph. 3rd run; 9.70 @ 74.17mph with M/T slicks.
2:01 I love this truck!
Exactly the results I expected.
Those two trucks are so beautiful
I've always believed the 454 SS aged very well, still a beautiful truck even today.
Love the older trucks... Its just funny to be watching this in 2020 lol. Guys running more then double this power on basicly stock 5.3s with Chineese turbos smh.
That SS looks sinister!
The trucks are nice, but you know what I like the most about this? No shitty rap music like you hear in pretty much every new video.
I hate all the generic music that put on all these shows now. Those musicians should jus go to Nashville and record there redundant shit like the rest of them and let car shows be car shows. And I'm musician
That Chevy should've been leveled out . Lower in the rear
I thought both trucks would be a little faster than that. 🤷♂️
The 454 was always a toad engine, only thing it did well was gobble gas.
Same here. For reference I had a stock 1999 Mustang GT that would do 8.90s in the 1/8. I would think that a turbo first gen Lightning would easily match that. Well they both look great anyway.
14:30 NO QUEMA CUHH
La Chevy no sirve cuh
Both of the builds were disappointing, but I guess we'll have to wait... just to see which one is the bigger disappointment lol 🤣
@guided one the chevy had heads, cam, ect. they didnt even pull the valve covers on the ford. the 454ss is a known dogg. the cams and heads wont support a turbo. they woulda had to do what they did plus a turbo to beat the winsor. woulda cost 3 times as much.
@@nathonsmithson3024 nah the 454 stock might not be a huge power plant but heads and cam wake it right up. They're a great engine and can take a beating. I have a 600hp bored and stroked 454. It hurts some feelings. Got a few videos to prove it.
@@whysohigh thats what i said. in factory form the moter doesnt breath. heads and a cam wake up most engines.
DebtLife Projects well they were intended for street trucks. Not full on drag trucks.
guided one the Ford doesn’t need a turbo. With the right NA combo it would have won either way.
Both are badass trucks!
1/8 mile track? Not good enough for the 1/4?
lol you guys are hacks behind the wheel.
honestly two amazing trucks here
Wish there was a third contender. Maybe the Little Red Express with a centrifugal supercharger!
That chevy still looks a million times better than that ford.
how many passes before the frame is trash on that 454SS?
Wish they would do a little red express
A lot of people probably don't even know what that is lol
@@paulvickers9978 Its a old guy in my town have one of those. It was interesting watching the truck starts up and see puff of smoke come out of those pipes like a rig. It was cool.
Soooo the Chevy is safer and the Ford is faster? Let's call it a tie
Built 454, TH400 and 4.10 gears stock. Then left the stock 1,200 RPM torque converter?? That truck didn't need compression as much as it needed a torque converter, rebuild of the posi and somebody to heat them slicks up and leave hard!
After how many thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars wasted and my 200,000 mile MkV Jetta 2.0T with maybe $500 of mods will spank both of these every which way from Sunday with the A/C blowing and 4 passengers in it... what a waste of trucks and money... this "upgrade" series was a joke...
Even after the upgrades those trucks were still slow LOL.
Yup
Yup
I mean, they’re trucks, not sports cars.
Colin A 2nd gen Lightning is faster than either one bone stock.
sixt9coug yeah but a second gen lightning is supercharged, not to mention the advance in technology that we didn’t have in 94.
The 454 needed a super charger not aluminum heads.
I'm guessing this is for second place because the Dodge Viper truck is the king of the hill.
Kinda sad a stock reg cab shortbed 2018 5.0 f150 is faster than that turbo Windsor.
tech1302 the new trucks are a lot lighter in weight so I feel that helps
I see why they ran them on the 1/8 mile, if they would have run them down the 1/4 it would have taken another day for taping the episode. They threw all those parts and work at these truck and you could still use a calendar to time them down the 1/8 mile.
I wish both would have been boosted with similar kits. Everything else with lowering and transmission was similar. I just think it would have been a better comparison with forced induction on both trucks.
Why in the world did y'all put that stance on the chevy...🤨🤨🤨
I remember a '74 Chevy 454 that a friend of mine used to drive. That thing was a super smooth accelerator with monster low end torque but it was all done at 4000 RPM. It needed way more head and cam. I'm not sure what mods this one has.
Ok those times are 1/8th mile right? That guy didnt run a 6.4 quarter mile right? RIGHT!?
