My first Rolex was this watch .... still my favourite as it's so easy to wear and so simple but perfect.... good buy.
Same here. Bought a few more since but this is still my favourite 👍🏻

I got a timex, no luxury watches
This is the only watch you will ever need.
You get the great history, a solid modern movement, perfect case size and thickness, very comfortable to wear, 100 m water resistance, great long lasting lume.
Also it doesn’t scream Rolex, it goes under the radar with its matt black dial and no ceramic bezel.
The best value Rolex in my opinion.
LWC would you buy a white version if they release it?
I think I’d prefer the white on the explorer 2
Why wouldn't regular oyster perpetual be a best value rolex? It's cheaper than explorer and still has the white dial. Everything is pretty much the same except the 3 6 9 numerals on the dial. The clasp is different but still a good rolex piece for it's value.

The Explorer is timeless, with a wonderful history. Understated, oozes class without being flashy. Works in almost any setting - office, hiking, whatever.
It’s the perfect one-watch collection.
Does it actually have history? The watch that went to the top of the world was a regular oyster perpetual. Rolex milked the achievement and released the Explorer afterwards.
The first Rolex I bought is an Explorer 214270 and I love it more than any other watch I own. The history and sleek design is amazing and cant be beaten by any other Rolex for me :)
This is the first watch I bought, saved up for it a long time, Putting a way money every month. This one will pass on to my son. I love it!
On a side note, I bought the new no date sub and changed it for de seadweller 50th after watching your video many! Times. Thanks for sharing
@Sietse I had a similar experience. I fell out of love with my SD43 Mark 1 dial once I purchased the submariner. The latter has a much better fit and feel on my 7.25 inch wrist 😉.
Watching you drive around London is the most satisfying thing ever.
The Explorer was my very first Rolex. This watch started it all for me, congrats on the new addition!
I was definitely not expecting the Explorer. I’ve had mine for a year and love it. It makes all the other Rolex sport models look like they are trying too hard. The ultimate go anywhere, do anything Rolex. Congratulations and looking forwards to next week’s review!
I got mine from the AD last Friday and like you haven't had it off my wrist. It's the perfect watch, classy, understated but absolutely beautiful on the wrist. It's also the perfect size for me, not too big or small and the lume is fantastic. Would recommend this watch to anyone.

I love mine. Such a versatile watch, from black tie to casual, and super comfortable. I got bored of it for a while (when connecting with another watch), then came back to it and love it again.
Got mine last Wednesday ...first impressions it’s some watch !!. ...classy....elegant ...and totally understated ..simple and the perfect choice ..enjoy!!

Yes! Even LWC can appreciate the appeal of the Explorer. Careful though, they don’t call the 214270, the Collection Killer for nothing! 😂😂
I feel you. This was my 4th Rolex purchase. Never appealed to me until I saw it in person. It is my most comfy watch now and the watch I get the most compliment in.
The Explorer, such a versatile watch; reliable, durable and discreet. It was my third Rolex, but really it could be my only watch.
Love of this watch is a reflection of a sophisticated understanding of the aesthetics of watches. Beauty in simplicity and purism. If you like this one, you should also get the Oyster Perpetual 39 in black. To me the Explorer One and the OP 39 in black are the essence of Rolex.
Welcome to the explorer club, the 214270 was first Rolex and made so many videos about it, when I first got it and a year later on the wrist. It’s simplicity is rich, not doubt. Didn’t think it’s something you would buy considering your collection! Congrats and all the best

Great choice. Simple, practical, not in your face. You are doing the right thing replacing the no date sub for the explorer in my opinion.
The more I see your AP the more I fall in love with it. It didn’t appeal at first......but the bracelet itself is beautiful.... and seeing it on your wrist in the wild so to speak it’s an amazing piece.
Arguably the best candidate for a ”one-watch”. Long time watch lover and I had a 20 year run between my first and second Rolex. This was my second Rolex and the start of my imo refined collection. Thanks for the great content!
Wow... I bought mine 2 weeks back and guess what? I also sleep with this watch. I got Everest band with brushed buckle and I am loving it. This watch is true that it won't do justice on photos or videos. You need to wear it on your wrist. Enjoy your Explorer.
Try it on Marine Nationale strap from Erika’s Original - my 214270 looks fantastic on it. Sleeping comfort is incredible.

I owned this watch for a day and I regret selling it. It was light, comfy and subtle. I’m thinking about buying one again after watching this video.
I love my Explorer 214270. It's the watch I wear whenever I just want to wear a watch. Simple, no-frills, and as some would say, boring. Having said that, I would not let go of the Sub 114060 if I were you. That's just me as I believe that the "No Date" is the one Sub to have and that the "Hulk" & "Kermit" are novelty pieces that are nice to have in a collection. The ND is different enough from the the two and as it's clear as day that you don't need to raise funds, why get rid of it? Just my opinion. Cheers!
@@MPD90, it's understandable since having five diver's doesn't make a lot of sense. I am with you, I'll drop the SD out of the five. At the end of the day, we buy and wear the watches we like and enjoy. There's no right or wrong choices as long as you do it for yourself and no one else. Cheers!

amazing watch...this is my first rolex explorer 1 2015...loving it....this is a evergreen timepiece ...simple and elegant...
I owned three steel professional sports models and never had I thought I would get a datejust but I did this year. DJ and explorer 1 are simple classic and timeless

The explorers simplicity is just stunning. Look forward to seeing it on the different straps. Its one of my favourite rolex watches it comes in a close second to the gmt for me.

My Explorer is at Rolex having the bezel replaced as we speak. Costs £93 + £60 fitting, so quite reasonable. Hope you enjoy your new acquisition.

Mine is at Rolex too. Most likely needs a clasp or at least a flip lock after I caught it on something. Missing it like hell ☹️

This is an awesome video and I loved it. When I saw your post on Instagram to guess what watch it was I would never have thought it was the Explorer 1. I thought you had gone for the Datejust 41. I loved how you built up the tension in the video. The editing was brilliant and it was perfectly timed. The reveal made the watch just pop and it looked absolutely stunning. Watching these is always a treat because I couldn't buy myself a Rolex or other luxury watch because of the price tag but watching these videos you almost get the same experience very nice job again

Nice addition, for some reason I forgot these were a thing (when I think Explorer I think about the 42mm). Seems like this 39mm is a good example of "less is more"

Second favourite of your next to the One Datejust Wimbledon dial. Those two are perfect pieces. Friend of mind offered his Explorer for a great price and I declined. My stupidity. I guess I’m just not a Rolex Guy. Lol

If you enjoy the 39 mm explore.......You will definitely enjoy the 39 mm oyster perpetual. Either the white or black dial, talk about everyday watch. I believed this one is as simple as you can get. Still have the Quality, designs & still have the elegance look of all the big boys does. I think the 39 mm oyster perpetual wear more comfortable then the Daytona.
I'm excited to go camping this weekend (Mt Washington area, on Vancouver Island) I haven't camped in 25 years, but I am super excited about it. It's an incredibly versatile watch. I too own an Explorer 1 and love it. I consider it as an everyday Rolex.
