Fav fish the Gilthead. In gibraltar we used to get absolutely tonnes as across the bay there was giant nursery raising them and they would escape. They hit so hard and fight so well for the size. I would just use half a crab and not much weight almost near the rocks. So close you could almost see them clearly. Great sport :)
Definitely with you on that, great fish to target and one of my faves too! Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed, if you haven’t already be sure to check out some of the other Gilt videos that are up on the channel 👍🏻
@@ukfishslayerNice fish all sea bream had a Gilt couple years ago about 2lb in a pegged shore match in Portsmouth unexpected catch. Better though are the Namibia shore caught White Steebras bream lve caughtt to 12kg, they grow to over 20kg one best lb for lb fighters you ever meet.
Brilliant mate , I've been waiting for this one , didn't disappoint , very informative , shows how much effort goes in to it. Learnt a bit then as well . Thanks . I will have a session with you soon mate . ps hi Martin , and yes you were right about the Erme , completely weeded out , impossible to fish .... Cheers Mark
Thanks mate and glad you enjoyed. There will be plenty more to come 😉 tbf Larks knows these areas like the back of he’s hands so generally wise to heed hes advice lol
Absolutely they don’t just give themselves up and you can’t just put it down to time on the bank, there is so much effort put in! Can’t wait for our next few adventures bud 😎
Larks is a legend We both been chatting and useing whole razors for a couple of years ....i do very well on them as dose larks Very very good thinking Angler 👏🏻
Circle hooks might be ok for small giltheads but as they get much bigger there mouths get much harder in fact so hard you can only hook them in scissors ie corner off mouth or deep in mouth . Strong sharp hooks are needed for these powerful fish 👍
Nice one, may take you up on that offer one day. ATM I’m currently torn between hitting the gilts down salcombe way and getting out on my boat at every opportunity lol have to try to balance it with work and the family as don’t want the mrs to serve me with divorce papers 😂😂
thank you kindly both for sharing your knowledge 🙂
No problem at all and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed 😎

The thing that exciting about giltheads it’s not knowing what size fish is about to slam your rod over and scream off 😎👍🎣🐟
Nice videos good result from perseverance. Very interesting bait presentation with the razors.
Cheers bud, indeed perseverance is a key word where Giltheads are concerned lol

Do you ever use circle hooks for Gilthead ?
@@richardandrews4076 I have thought about it in the past but to be honest have never.
Circle hooks might be ok for small giltheads but as they get much bigger there mouths get much harder in fact so hard you can only hook them in scissors ie corner off mouth or deep in mouth . Strong sharp hooks are needed for these powerful fish 👍
How often do you rebait and recast, and if you have a 4.20m how can you set the hook from a beach?
Re baiting depends on what bait is being used and how many nuisance critters ie crabs and small fish are there, anything between 5-15mins usually

If you fancy a trip on the gilts down Falmouth way let me know
