@@Gandalflarksthewizzard 😎
Thanks for the video. Love the look of the Mackerel Jig but can not find them on the internet, so do you have any more info on it ? Cheers and tight lines
Indeed they are the savage gear 3D slim jig minnow (mackerel) 150g, they also come in 170 and 200g 👍🏻
@@ukfishslayer Brilliant thanks and will have another look. Just need some settled weather to get out and try them out !!!!
Indeed seems a common theme this year with the weather lol FYI Southwest seabaits have a very good selection of these jigs, worth a visit if you’re nearby at all.
great video again Ben, good to see the jig action in that clear water before dropping it down bud
Love the unpredictable and random darting action of the slammers bud. Out of all the jigs I use they are the best for that. Amazing how the same straight pull can send them off in all manner of directions 👌🏻👌🏻
Another great video
Lovely fish
a nice couple of fish caught thanks for sharing buddy cheers martyn 👍👍
Cheers bud
Brilliant as always mate
@@paulcozens2823 thanks mate
Thanks for the video, very helpful and lovely fish. Is high water and slack water times different on the far off wrecks compared to the published times for the port ? If so how do you work out the time difference or is it just by experience ? Cheers Bob
Indeed the published times will be an hour or two after the wreck times. It’s a general rule of thumb that the eddystone reef is around an hour(ish) ahead of the Plymouth breakwater and the reef is around 10 to 11 miles out from the breakwater
@@ukfishslayer OK thanks which explains why I get tide when I thought it should be slack. Cheers
I just tend to work on the further out I go the sooner the tide turns, the shoreline is always playing catchup lol
Fascinating watch thanks bud 👍 👌
No problem, glad you found it interesting. I’m always taken back by the footage as I play it back and edit it, as you say I too find it fascinating seeing what’s going on down there when I’m fishing and seeing how the different fish behave in their natural environment
😎👍🎣🐟
@@Gandalflarksthewizzard 😎
I tried some squid fishing in the sound without and success which I put down to water clarity. Is there anywhere I could find what the clarity of the water in Plymouth or is there another reason for the squid not to be around at present ? Tight Lines
Just this minute returned from a few hours this evening in the sound on them, managed 5 but had to work for them. Drop me a message on Facebook messenger and I’ll talk you through it
Excellent
❤️
Very interesting mate! Thanks for sharing! What is the camera you use? 🙏
@@Adam-is-fishing it’s the water wolf 2 bud. Looking into how I can get it a little more stable
@@ukfishslayer Im currently playing with one. It needs a fin on top to help stabilize it. I think?
@@colinboyd1551agreed but think it’s something that needs making up as don’t think savage gear supply one?
Excellent as always ❤
Why thank you kind sir
we can only dream of 92 foot of water
Lol
What sort of depth were you in?
Fishing in around 120ft
I just found you via tuna gear podcast. I'll be smashing your videos during my work day on the headphones. 👍
Excellent stuff cheers, hope you enjoy them and feel free to drop a comment on anything 👌🏻
I would like to see a vid of how you make the vids your cameras and editing equipment I would love to make a vid myself to share with familly and friends, I know it would be nothing near as good as yours because we just dont get the size of bream up here anymore like you do
If you check out the Tunagear podcast I did that was released a couple of weeks back we ran through my setup etc on there ☺️
Pitty there is not a way of stabalizing your underwater camera more its great but makes me dizzy
Indeed it’s unfortunate as it’s at the mercy of the tides and wave motion
@@ukfishslayer Can you not fit it with some sort of large vane that will hold it steady
I have though about that and not sure if it will work or not (there isn’t any vane accessories that you can buy. Obviously it’s on the end of the line in the tide while you’re trying to fish naturally and you don’t want to have to use massive leads to keep it down. There is another camera made by Westin escape that is smaller that I’m looking at
@@ukfishslayer yes I was thinking you could make one out of clear perspx in a triangular shape
Defo can be done…
Absolutely love this mate ✊ that sunrise start was beautiful, I found your channel via Facebook and I’m stoked I did! Fished from the shore and my Yak since forever but my back just can’t do the yak no more 😢 Got my first boat last month- a beautiful lil 16ft “Yorkshire Pebble” & I’m still squaring her away for our first outing ✊ What an epic you had forgetting yer keys - sounds like something I’d do! 😅 The weather reports being utterly untrustworthy these days doesn’t help! Excuse the pun but I’m hooked now and am looking forward to watching all of yer vids, thanks for making and sharing brother 😎👍🤝
Mate I really glad you enjoyed and thanks for taking the time to pop a message out, honestly really appreciate it. Yeah indeed the weather has been so unpredictable this year and you just have to take what you can get. You’ll never look back with your boat mate, it opens up a whole new world in terms of the fishing and that early morning solitude when the suns popping up is worth more than any amount of money I reckon. Hope you enjoy the other vids too, they are quite varied and include some very interesting underwater stuff 😎
great fishing and footage as always
Thanks bud
Tidy session again, would love to have a closer look at those cuckoo wrasse as they all look like specimens to me and what a huge squid .. cracker 👍🏻
😎👍🎣🐟
👌🏻👌🏻
Great video m8
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it
Great vid and a nice variety of fish😊
Cheers bud, weather made it tough but it came good in the end 👌🏻
Brilliant mate
Cheers bud 😎
Nice session. How do you dispatch Cuttlefish ? Is it the same as a chop behind the head like squid ? Many thanks
Cheers bud. It’s a puncture to the cranium for the cuttle
Good fish bro 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Cheers bud, glad you enjoyed 😎
Where did you get the fish measure stuck on your gunwale?
Tbh it was already on the boat when I got it lol
lovely selection of fish!
Cheers bud, glad you enjoyed 😎
Hi just found your site very good indeed ,are you allowed to keep the bass in the river from a boat ? enjoyed the video
@@rampentferret Cheers mate, glad you’re enjoying and really appreciate you tuning in 👌🏻 Not allowed to take any bass by boat in the river bud, you’ll see in my vids they all go back when I’m fishing inside (it’s a bass nursery area)
😎👍🎣🐟
Same day you had that triggerfish 😎
Great!
Cheers bud 😎
thank you kindly both for sharing your knowledge 🙂
No problem at all and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed 😎
Schoolies are almost a nuisance like dogfish sometimes 😂
💯 my old mate larks calls it the plague of the bass lol
Such a good vid mate 👌👌
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed 😎
Why do you use a Braid hook length and what hook size were you using ? When do Giltheads start to show and when do they go ? Thanks for the video
I use the braid hook length for two reasons, firstly big gilts have serious teeth and can/do bite you off with mono, also it stops the spider crabs snipping the hooks off. I generally use size 2/0 sakuma manta extra hooks. The gilt fishing is worth a go generally from April/may through to October (they are typically a summer species)
@@ukfishslayer many thanks for your reply and information. Weather looking rough next weekend so might have a try. Appreciate your videos, very helpful. Tight Lines
Thanks bud, glad you’re enjoying them. To be honest when hasn’t the weather been rough lately lol. Defo worth a try atm 👌🏻👌🏻
Please more videos,we enjoy watching you 😊
Thanks bud, there are quite a few vids already up on the channel and a new one drops each week 😎
😎👍🎣🐟
😎
Those snails are called Canadian slip limpets there good bait to use for giltheads love under water footage off mullet 😎👍
Amazing how those limpets actually crawled over the line and sandwiched it in between two of them lol You’d never believe all them mullet under the boat when I was just seeing the odd one or two poking their heads out
The Tamar is alive with Bass. Catching anything else is a bonus. I use topwater lures only as the Bass tend to be bigger. You can't keep them as it is a nursery area. I wouldn't anyway, Bass is well overrated as an eating fish. Can't beat fresh mackerel.
Love a bit of fresh mackerel 👌🏻👌🏻 Indeed the Tamar is crawling with bass, the small ones are a bit of a nuisance when targeting gilts tbh
You have to give a little strike on squid and keep reeling don't stop.
Cheers bud
another cool video buddy, thanks! There seem to be shed loads of squid about this year! We were on the bass wrecks today and caught 2 squid on normal slow pitch jigs!
Excellent, I think they smash them a hell of a lot more than we realise, just obviously don’t hook up to often.
@@ukfishslayer yes true, seem to be a lot more about this year, a good sign
Absolutely, we love eating them
😎👍🎣🐟
👌🏻
Well done buddy! Them cuttle use water to mix their ink and it’s instant so leave them out the water mate in the net to purge or you will end up like me the other week 😂 Squid run out and take a while to re charge but cuttle just need a mm of water and they are back in the game 😅
Cheers bud I didn’t know that. Like you I have been jet washed a few times in the past by them and have a few funny pics of it but didn’t realise the cuttle use the water to recharge lol
@@ukfishslayer yeah I didn’t want to not say anything incase you didn’t know as I only found out a few years back but yeah leave them out and once they purge of all ink as long as they stay out of any water they can’t make any. Squid are different they make it internally and once they’re out they’re out but if you reintroduce even a mm of water to a Cuttle in a bucket or somthing by mistake that’s it it’s game over again and you and your boat is black 😂
Bud those who never listen never learn, I always thought the cuttle like squid had a finite amount, I have in the past dropped them in a bucket of sea water before dispatching them and often thought blimey they carry some ink 🤦🏻♂️😂
@@ukfishslayer Yeah mate I’m the same train of thought on the learning front but some take offence but regardless now you know 😂 I fish for them for bait and the amount of times I made the mistake of dropping them into a bucket of water to keep fresh, damn things nearly had it over flowing with ink and I could never work out why 😂
@theamputeeangler never any offence here bud, we are all human and no one knows it all! Do you not eat them? We like them lol
Amazing to see creatures understanding the dangers involved in life. Taking everything in and making decisions. Just like us.
Very true
Awesome
