wow I'm amazed! the orchestra duplicated the sound of the original Bali hai and the back ground choir sounded just like in the movie,as for the singer she has a beautiful voice to sing this song,bravo to everyone.

I'm proud of this song.🇻🇺 The song is about a mythical island of Bali hai. The name refers to a mystical island, visible on the horizon but not reachable, and was originally inspired by the sight of Ambae island from neighboring Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu, where author James Michener was stationed in World War II.
I think this arrangement is superb, just like the 1958 movie, but with new recording technology so we can hear each part! The choir is as ethereal as music can be, and it gives me goosebumps to hear it! My only complaint would be that, though her tone and pitch control are exceptional, Ms. Criswell’s dynamics were very stuck in the middle. Perhaps it was a failure of audio compression, but I find that the dynamics of the song, from the self-evident “you’ll hear it whisper” to “shine in the streams,” which my intuition tells me needs to be sung in an unbearable crescendo. Ms. Criswell unfortunately did not capture that, though every other aspect of her vocal was excellent.
I haven't heard hera ton but what I have heard, I think maybe this song was on the low side for her, and the fact that the range isn't what she might have sung more often also affected her dynamics

John Wilson loves to revive the old musicals and in some cases has to re-write the scores as some of the originals are lost.
I think John Wilson did a great job capturing the original Orchestra music from the 1958 south Pacific,I get goose bumps hearing it.
