Thank you for your positive feedback. As displayed a few seconds into the video, “Your constructive criticism is welcome”. I have learned more theoretically accurate explanations of my playing since the original video was recorded. I’m still growing in knowledge as I teach others.
so many times those of us who are aspiring to get to the next level look for helps such as a chord sheet - and that has its place. So, taking an imcremental approach to playing is a sound piece of wisdom. Thx
What I love (AND hate lol) about music is than I've heard these progressions all my life, and all I really needed to know is 6-2-5-1 (took my first theory class a hs senior, current Sr. music major)
The chord sequence I see you play is :- 6-2-5-1 : Cm9 - F9- Bb9 - Ebmaj7 a pretty basic circle of 5ths the II chord is usually minor i.e. Fm7 but here you changed it to dominant F9 the VII chord in key of Eb is Dm7b5, you have a made a suschord ! sounds ok
@moneykidd32 it's not one particular song, it's a progression that you can play within a song, or you can make up your own song with this progression, but it's no one particular song.
All due respect, I wanted to point out something you probably learned since this filming... When naming "figured bass" chords (numbered chords based on the notes of a scale), its good practice to keep the chord name consistent w/ the note's name (C) & scale function (the vi will always be a minor chord in a major scale). So, your vi chord is enharmonically the same as Ebmaj7. However it's more appropriate to call it Cm9. Either way, I can't play gospel so we can learn from each other!
I need them chords like a.s.a.p I've church in the morning 8am 10am & 11am service on sunday's o:44 to 1:08 break them for apostle,please send me a message
Today I was working on the Eflat scale with my piano teacher (learing a Beatles song) Watching your video I just realised that the VI chord is the I chord build on C in the base. Gives you a Cm chord. Is that correct? Thanks for the lessons (and sorry for the bad English ;-)
Love it Man! I have a question because I'm starting out on theory myself and was wondering if I'm on the right track. The Chord on the VI (6) Right hand plays a EbMaj7 over a C bass. My question is could that be called a Cm9? Or is it not because of the notes being on different hands? Anyways this is the first video of yours I watched and I'm now a Subscriber! Thanks and Keep it up :)
hey man great vid here. Uhm i'm a music student so i felt the need to point out. Some of your names of the cords are not right. They sound great (so it doesn't matter) but they are not right. You called your V chord a Ab9 it is actually a Bb ALT (( Bb 13) You also, for some reason)played a flat 11 over the minor ii which I don't get but hey it sounds good. That ii chord is actually a ii13b11 (b=flat) But hey gospel is full of alterned chords it sounds great man i learned SO MUCh fromt his.
The chord sequence he's really playing: The Progression 6-2-5-1 key of Eb 6 ( Cm9 C/ Bb-D-Eb-G) 2 ( F13 F/ A-D-Eb-G) 5 (Bb11 Bb/ Ab-C-Eb) 1 ( Eb Eb/ G-Bb-Eb) Those are the actual Chords He's playing also the actual names of the chord

FYI: That's a CMin9 chord (c bass in left; Bb, D, Eb, G in right. C minor is indeed the vi in the key of Eb Maj

Thank you brother for this lesson. Your explanation was very good. Peace be with you.
I agree with the other listeners; depending on how the progression is played it could be either Isn't She Lovely or A Brighter Day
The chord sequence I see you play is :-
6-2-5-1 : Cm9 - F9- Bb9 - Ebmaj7 a pretty basic circle of 5ths
