You have a gift for taking things that people either make too complex or assume everyone already knows and making it easy to understand. I feel like a lot of people teach music theory, you're really helping teach music practice and application.

Because I had an accident a few years ago I lost the use of one of my fingers and one thing I have learnt is find ways that work for you. Okay my frasing off chords are not like everyone else but I have to find what works for me .

Exactly. All musicians, even the greatest, play within their limitations. Django Reinhardt played guitar with only 2 fingers on his left hand; BB King was unable to play and sing at the same time so developed his own particular brand of blues; some well known guitarists are unable to play barre chords so they work around it. The important thing is to enjoy it.

I love that you are teaching beginners to play music not just the mechanics of music. I am not a beginner but I think you have good advice for everyone. I’ll be checking into your sessions.

I need to know about the gear you use. OK, need might be strong, but I want to know.
What model is that wood tone digital piano / keyboard? What is that iPad / tablet mount?

Towards the end of your excellent video (about 9 minutes in) you did a fast bluesy example. Would you use the sustain pedal at all as discussed earlier?

@thelma-7777 Thanks for letting me, I think I was watching David's video prior to Milo's, so the comment went to Milo. Off course I know Milo, he's a legend, one of the guy who makes me to continue to play keyboard, learnt a lot from him and always like seeing him, got that winning smile and enthusiasm 😀

As a 22 yr guitarist point of view , having taught 1 person . The emotional aspect is something the player really has to feel themselves, to make it feel alive. Without the tomatoes , your only eating cheese bread buddy..

Great tutorial thank you. Sounds ok without sustain pedal. So many pianists, who don,t/can,t play legato just use sustain pedal to infill and cover up bad playing. IMHO🤔

I don't feel this is for beginners. Maybe more like at 1 yr practising 1 hr a day. Can you create a few simple videos that beginners, who are slower than intermediate, to practice and learn.. It's ok to show us your fancy skills bc it gives us beginners something to look forward to, but until then, slower and simpler demonstrations and examples would be very much appreciated. Thanks..

I don't want to be rude, but it seems that you forgot what kind of problems you had when you were a beginner. Your advises: "use the sustain pedal", "use dynamics" is not feasible when the student has problems to read the notes or holding the correct rythm. It is too much to concentrate on. That's why those things are neglected for beginners.

If you’re creating your own music, then I think all this applies

    • @Wanlez777

I would have to disagree. I used a pedal on day one and it helped me immensely.

@@Wanlez777 Ok, maybe you are genius. I was not able (still not fully able) to focus on every aspect of the playing to do it correctly.

I have been learning piano 5 months and it's difficult reading music and getting all the notes right and for the correct length of time nevermind the pedal. I have just tried it on a new piece this listlessness and omg it tricky

I see on your left hand you anchor your little finger on the side of the key. Why?
