I just replaced the diverter valve but haven't released the potential frozen lever. Would you recommend anything else if this doesn't get rid of the code? Mechanic is my last resort.
Hi, my wastegate is shut closed tight. The actuator is not holding pressure causing the wastegate flapper to be stucked closed. But I don't know why I am getting a P0299 underboost code. If wastegate is stucked closed shouldn't i be having overboost ? The car runs but has no power slow acceleration. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I got a 2013 Tiguan which was leaking oil on the passenger side. Mechanic says its the turbo and I need to replace it. Now this turbo was already replaced back 2 years ago under warranty. Would your your issue cause oil like with that lever. I have no codes.
Update for you... there are two possible sources of oil coming from your turbo. The first is the connection to the oil feed that actually lubricates the turbo. The second is the connection at the intercooler where oil-carrying engine air can collect and possibly leak out.
@@amcrae1 Thanks Alan just saw your replies. I checked the connection at the intercooler and its dry. I found the oil return line leaking through a hole, replaced that still got oil from the turbo. Was told internal seals could be bad. I got a new turbo manifold will replace that and check that oil feed connection first. Thank you.

Hey, Mass! I miss the tappet bros. Click n clack. You got the voice!
Thanks for the info. I will see what happens when I get under there and look around but at least I have a better idea where to look.
Yup seems to be a big problem I've got a 2016 Tiguan 60k miles it was frozen solid! Thanks for the video!
Thank you! I got this repair workaround from a guy in the business!

What happens when it freezes? I just checked on my car, and it threw that code. My car won't start now. Will that be the problem?
Nice video! This video was made 3 years ago, did you have to repeat the fix? Or was freeing up that arm only required once?

You're welcome.... this "fix" is still working to keep the engine light off in this particular car!
bad or faulty boost solenoid will not make enough vacuum to actuate the arm, this is a temporary releasing of the frozen arm, it'll happen again.
and often the pivot on the flap just begins sticking...
Very good info

I don't think it could be the cause of an oil issue, but I'll check with my expert vw friend for you!

Check the egr for leaks too this can cause an under boosting
The 2.0t does not have EGR. Only the tdi does.
On my 2007 Passat P0299 was actually caused by a misfire because of a bad coil pack
Thanks for your comment! Good to know!!!!
Hi, did your misfire gave an engine code? Thanks
yes PO 299
@@mark.r8900
Sorry I meant did you get a code for the misfire. Like a p0300, p0301, p0302...
@@mark.r8900 Hi! I don't think so!!!
Is an 09 similar?
How long did this fix last for??
It should be good for several months at least.
@@amcrae1 better than a brand new turbo i guess
replace your boost solenoid.
It's still working today!!!!!!
@@amcrae1 thanks for the quick reply
I have a 2017 wolfsburg tiguan. Hope this doesnt happen to me! Have you done the walnut blasting yet?
