That's an awesome test method! I love how you also move the TX antenna in a very controlled manner. Shows the 0 above your TX antenna each time.
2miles is pretty good also!
For me the 3turn helix would be a good antenna - nice small for the goggles....
I will make a test soon as well, but not as good as your setup here :)
Thanks for the comment. You're marking also a good job !!!!
@@F4EIZ hehe, I'm referring to your videos a lot lately. Think I will test sort 3turn helix next
@@Rcschim Helix have very good result !!! Thanks for referring..
This is a fantastic video with what I would call is the most objective and sure way to compare antennas. This is great, seriously
You made a great test. My only comment is that you should have used a balanced transmitter antenna rather than an unbalanced one. You were measuring a lot of cable resonance in that video.
Thanks, I usually use this antenna, not perfect but 25mW for 2 miles is not so bad.
Use a TBS Triumph. It is balanced and has the same vertical and horizontal components. A Mad Mushroom V2 would also work well. The reason you want a balanced load is that it eliminates "dumb luck" from the equation. The crosshair in the video is a clone of my original design (despite me politely asking people not to copy). The Xtreme is an even better antenna than the original crosshair. However, the Xtreme's axial ratio doesn't allow it to benefit (or get damaged) from cable resonance. Hence, the video clarity wasn't as good, but the beam was accurate. If you would have rotated the crosshair in test 90 degrees, you would see the video clarity degrade quite fast. Helical antennas also suffer this problem.
merci beaucoup pour ce super test
This was the single best setup I've seen to date! You've earned a new subscriber on this test set up alone!!! I hop to see a pepperbox on the next round up as its my current go to from years past, hopefully the new version is just as good as my original.
🥃cheers🍻
Thanks, no pepperbox test, some light LR set up 6 and 7", fast with li-ion..
What a great test setup and procedure! really liked how the 3 turn Helix looked! will buy me some of these soon! thanks for the video.
Thanks for positive comment....
Very happy with the LZR results, thanks Marc :-)
Great Tony... time to work on a 8 panels !!!
Great test, thanks!
perfect test, thank you
very good contribution, thanks..!
Love the music so much!!
top ta video, merci Marc ;-)
Génial le banc de test en angle :)
Merci Olivier...
J'adore ton test Marc..
Gracias...
Awesome test you doing there. Appreciate your efforts, I think we doing fine to get 3rd video quality considering we have the lowest gain (:
Do you publish any antenna diagrams of your testings?
Thanks...
This rocks ! rock the world bro !
Thanks !!!
Merci, tout le monde disait que le patch Vas était le top du top ... Je vais investir sur l'antenne helix ...
Mieux que des mots :-) ....
Hello. Great test.! I'm still on the edge... witch is the best one then? For long range of course. Thank you kindly Sir. Thumbs up👍
genial! thanks!
Thanks...
Video quality at what angle? Straight on at 2 miles right? Super cool vid.👍
good job :)
Thanks
top !!
Tip / Top !!!
What antenna manufacturer do you prefer ORT or t ProDrone? I was thinking about a 5 turn to improve my video over the x-air I have
Dear Marc
How did u mention LZR is good please advis? Since it has 35 deg beam and 13 dbi gain.
Seems like VTX antenna orientation is the problem. Maybe we can put two VTX units with two antennas on one quad. Put antennas at 90 degrees
I believe you have the Aomway double biquad mounted incorrectly. It should be rotated 90 degrees (long edge parallel with the ground). It is linear polarized, so it would get better signal if it was rotated properly. Also using a dipole on the Tx would help.
Thanks for comment, same signal because circular in TX. I'm making the test.
But larger horizontal beam in my mount.
véry nice job, bye.
thanks for watching !!!
Helix 12t the best.
yes...
Salut Marc, tu peux me parler de la Crosshair Prodrone, ton avis merci. 😉
Hello, très grande ouverture, pas beaucoup de gain, pas cher... un bon compromis
@@F4EIZ Merci, donc j'en prends une. 🤨
Receiver sensitivity pls?
I think -85db...
Jeez that's 2 miles at 25mw?! The best I could get with the ORT 3 turn antenna at 800mw was only 3.5 miles and the video feed was already very poor... It must be something wrong with my setup. sigh
my record in july is 4km with sub25gr quad at 25mW, video link in YT.
@@F4EIZ just watched the video. Found it actually on the top of your YT page! Another awesome test!
I'm wondering what could be wrong with my setup.. With 500mw or 800mw, video feed is perfect within 1km range (only with the ORT 3T antenna on the RX, for omni antenna I would lose signal at only a hundreds of meters!!). Even with the very nice ORT antenna, when it gets further video quality starts to drop quickly. I think I got the same quality at 5~km as what you got at 4km with 25mw, so sad!
I was thinking if it's the antenna on the vtx, a very old knockoff fat shark clover leaf, so I ordered a Foxxer pagoda and it's still on the way. But I know likely the antenna is not the mean reason, since in this test video, you seemed to use a very ordinary antenna too. I also noticed that the pigtail of the vtx kind of forms a circle (because my vtx comes with the pigtail and the vtx bay on my plane is very small so I had to push and squeeze it in), not sure if it will affect video quality or range though.
800/25 = 32 times of power difference, so I know something is terribly wrong but no clue at all..
I also noticed that the TX/RX link is not very good as well, with the R9M TX + R9 Slim+ RX, my RSSI often drops below 60 at very close range, which is definitely not right..
@@ElvinYX I'm using 12 turns helical and Rapidfire, TX antenna Pentalobe from La Fabrique Circulaire
May be because you are living in high interferene area, I've found a great improvement on open beach where there are no mobile phone reception
ort is the best
No...

Helical does much better than crosshair!
