How to Print Your Own Fabric Labels

- In this video, I will show you how to print your own fabric labels. Printing your own labels is fantastic because you can make personalized labels for your handmade bags or quilts. Printing on fabric is also useful for using photos to print fabric for quilts or other projects.
Remember to always follow the manufacturer instructions for the printable fabric that you are using.

I used the June Taylor sew in, making a pillow, and printed places we had been. This was 12 years ago and the pictures are still the same. It is excellent.

Interesting information, but the title and description say you're going to show how to print a quilt label. This was a product review.
mtp Agreed. That’s not what I expected to see. I thought it would be a tutorial on how to make multiple small labels that show who made the item. I’ve done it before but I no longer have an inkjet printer so I was hoping for alternative suggestions for a laser printer.
I buy the sew in then add heat n bond to back if I want to adhere it. It is less expensive then the one that comes fusible.

I have used the printable fabrics that you discussed but I read recently about a way to print on your own fabric without spending to buy those commercial paperbacked fabrics. I tried it and it worked fine except that i could not get the ink to set. The colors faded away with just one washing. Do you know of any special ink to buy for my printer that would be colorfast. Thanks,
I once read that you should use sublimation ink, print and transfer with sublimation paper

I guess I'm confused by the video title because no where in this video did I see anything about LABELS. I see PHOTOS. But when you say LABEL I assume I'm going to be seeing you cutting out something that you'd be sewing into the seam of a project.

Collette Watson, not yet. It has to do with the way laser toner adheres. It flakes off of fabric unless it’s set into the fabric a certain way. I keep thinking there may eventually be a solution, but it would require more effort on the part of the end user. My idea is to build a better printer, with the precision of a laser printer, but the dye ink of an inkjet printer. They seem to be able to do this with digital printing - does that also use a wet ink, like inkjet printers, or are we just waiting for those printers to be available for general consumers? These are all questions that I have, for sure.
But what about labels? I thought this video was instructions on printing labels to sew into items I make. Otherwise, nice information about photos.
