@@HumanoidDerpling wurt, being one of the only playable characters to not come from the real world but instead being born in a constant, would probably know it better than anybody else. or thats what i like to believe. also the skin description heavily implies that too
@@mikumoi Yes, Wurt came from the Constant. However, like Wormwood, she originated from a completely different shard of it. If anyone would know what gender the Deerclops is, it'd be Maxwell. I really enjoyed your video, man. I absolutely didn't know about the Pengull's hunger and such, that was a shocker :P Continue to make videos, the editing is on point, the rythm is good, everything's great! Subbed ;)
one of the extra things about winter that most players don't know about is the hostile flare. not sure if you covered in another video already, but it isntantly spawns a deerclops or warps an existing mactusk to the location. not exactly a hidden mechanic since its the purpose of the item, but still a cool niche item nonetheless
The most important part is that the deerclops won't spawn naturally that winter if you kill him using the flare which gives you the ability to spawn and kill him early winter far from base so you can then have the whole winter to fight Klaus, dragonfly etc without worrying about deerclops messing things up like breaking the walls in dragonfly or killing Klaus' deers
@@dragonslayer3552 I believed this would be the case at first, but I was in a world with a friend and we spawned deer clops via flare on the second day of winter, and killed him. We waited another day or two and spawned a second one. So we thought 'oh cool now we both have eyebrellas, AND clops won't spawn!' Yet on the night of day 30... he still came! Hostile flares don't seem to always work as expected, and I've even seen quite a few people arguing saying that he either does/doesn't spawn naturally after you've spawned him with a flare and killed him. It seems pretty inconsistent so I'd like to see what the reasoning for this might be! (I play on Xbox btw, if version changes anything)
@@anmspafan7855 I'm on playstation so we have the same version in my experience I have nthe deerclops never spawns after killed by flare so I'm assuming what happened is that you killed him so early that the cooldown of his spawn happened again at the end but then again you said you killed 2 so I'm absolutely confused
3:03 - As a couple of people in the comments have mentioned, Deerclops is actually female, but some of the survivors mistake her for male. Wurt (a native of the Constant) knows better, however, and genders her correctly. This is also alluded to on one of the Eyebrella skin descriptions, which refers to her using female pronouns. But here is another fun fact about Deerclops: She is myopic (aka nearsighted). So, she has a hard time seeing the player at any range beyond very close. Just thought I'd share a couple of little fun facts for you as well. Thanks for the vids!
While the majority of public servers lose their players when winter starts. I believe it’s more likely because they either speedrun bosses and beat what they want to beat or they always want to try to join on day 1-4 and will be on for a couple hours when winter starts P.S. I miss seeing Swanky Psam, hoping he has been alright. Like many, I was motivated to enjoy beefaloes because of his Play-through.
Wait WHAT!?! I have been playing DST for years and never knew that's what happens to the pengulls. I always keep my distance and just assumed they despawned and not actually dies of starvation.
I have a really crappy theory about deerclops. So after killing 6 structures shes happy? What if she just has pent up anger after hibernation and needs to get it out
I completely forgot about pengulls in this game. I hope they update them with some new mechanics. A tamed version could consistently lay eggs after being fed once a season. That or maybe they could hunt fish in exchange for berries and other food.

I played the game since the "strange new powers" update and im kinda ashamed that i didnt know mobs in DONT STARVE could... starve.
Oh wow, i have 670 hours in this game and never seen a calm deerclops. Thanks for the great video!
love you, you're one of the few dst youtubers that cares about game statistics and go so far as folder dive to get useful information. you're a hero.
I once had Happy Deerclops despawn on one of my worlds. Imagine my surprise when he showed up again!

How does killing deerclops spawned by Hostile Flares affect deerclops' spawning timer, if at all?
it causes it to be the maximum timer 16.8 winter days.
