  • In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I had a massive stroke 2/9/19 and another one 4/26/19. That when they discovered an AVM rupture. My husband is getting a divorce from me because of the stroke. Spouses, educate yourself because it's brain injury (yikes!). Don't give up because God never gives up on you! God bless! 🙏😍

I am extremely sorry to hear your husband is divorcing you!! My estranged husband whom i have been estranged from for over 15 years had a stroke March 2020 in the heights of Covid-19. I changed my life and is now taking care of him and is now his caregiver. It is not an easy task.....but he is deserving. May God wrap his healing hands around you as you recover from your stroke and deal with losing your husband. Pray for him...not everyone is able to deal with the turns our lives take sometimes. Be blessed and may God Bless you!

Very interesting. This only addresses expressive Aphasia. I have both expressive and receptive. With lots of therapy I did improve quite a bit but fatigue will take me down to where I was in the beginning after my Stroke. I am going to share this w/my Stroke group! Thanks for sharing!

when you can not recall a word for something, the attempt to describe what you mean is both intuitive and explanatory, impressionistic even. In that way it is more precise than the word in question. Whatever the cause, in case of rote learning by external source there may be an intuitive app or program that associates diffuse discriptions in order to narrow down to the core meaning.
However that concerns a complex symantic and referral coding.
    things like
    reverse dictionary
may help one restructure thought patterns and specification of the intended meaning of a word within the context of the deliberate act of communicating such.

    subject dicision tree:
    you search for:
    thing
    person
    event
    number
than both branch out to specify or at least give an abstract within a sentence context.
like you weigh a pumpkin in the supermarket.
    is it fruit ?
    is it a vegetable
(visual: a structured pictural of the variety of fruits. click. spoken word confirmation: a pumpkin)

I'm 68, I suffer with anomic aphasia and have sinse I was 29. I didn't even know it had a name until a couple of months ago when learned about it on the net. It was caused by an epileptic seisure but no-one bothered with me, not even my doctors so I've spent my life alone.

does aphasia only apply to people who had stroke and barin surgery?

    • @iasminferreira1200
      @iasminferreira1200 5 років тому +1

yes! can be also by brain tumor, brain infection, or dementia such as Alzheimer's disease. In some cases, aphasia is a symptom of epilepsy or other neurological disorder.

I myself had a brain injury when I was born. It was a lack of oxygen that lead me to my disability. I can speak and write but understanding is difficult. So it depends on the level of disability.. just be patient..

Another option is the speech therapy software my company has been providing for over 20 years.
Gabby Giffords (mentioned in the video) used our software.
      It's available now.
