Wonderful story! I've also witnessed in a different activity that helped a person with Parkinsons. I facilitate a drum wellness group with seniors and a few times a lady that attended had Parkinsons, she was in a wheelchair and had tremors but not too severe. When she laid a frame drum in her lap and used a mallet, she could follow along perfectly with the rhythm and her arm and hand movements were smoother when she played.😁
I believe if NFL quarterbacks crossed trained in tournament level competitions and active table tennis leagues, all their progression would be vastly improved. Every NFL team should have a table at their facility! Table Tennis benefits everyone!
Being a skeptical viewer who was diagnosed almost a decade ago, I looked this up and saw what I expected: table tennis is not special or unusually beneficial for pd compared to any other mainstream competitive ball sport or even any sport in general. Planning, prediction, aerobic exercise, rhythm, hand eye coordination, social activities, ambidexterity, etc, are not unique or exceptional in table tennis. All sports give you great benefits that drugs alone cant. Ill research it more to see what studies have been done, and maybe even try it cause i love table tennis, but im not optimistic or impressed. Like many other patients, id love to be proven wrong, but we all get over hoping for miraculous treatments after reality settles in. Id rather recommend sports that reinforce proper posture, better proprioception, and balanced structure, like kickboxing or jiu jitsu. High level table tennis players stand and move like freaks with limited range of motion, and this is at odds with the goal of doing functional movements in exercise.
I think the video demonstrated that having a little fun is a good distraction for PD and “opens the door” to other activities. You are right. There is no magic exercise. It’s all good for your body and mind and balance and coordination. Try it all!!!
Wonderful report! My patented invention, the Progressive Weighted Aerobic Ping Pong Exercise Racquet, will undoubtedly assist with this Ping Pong Therapy. CBS should invite me to explain how my exercise methods will help millions of people to benefit during their therapeutic exercises.
This is so awesome. It’s stories like these that make me have hope, no matter how bad things get.
Michael J Fox has said when he plays guitar and ice skates, he feels more relaxed & more able to control the body.
Sadly, the FDA will never approve ping-pong therapy because it doesn’t financially benefit the pharmaceutical companies.

Great peace. Thank you CBS
Table tennis is one of the greatest sports on earth . Both for fun and and at the professional level
So interesting. What a great simple 'treatment' for this complex disease.
What a great system with the volunteers I love it
He needs to switch hands. They should start teaching them playing with both hands. One set with right hand, another with left hand
Very good point
A wonderful piece showing how playing games improves their quality of life.
I wish my dad would have have had his Parkinson diagnosed earlier on life he would have a better quality of life now🙏🏾
Happy to see this.
Now this, is news.
There's a video of Michael J Fox playing Jonny B Goode. It's amazing.

The man is also known as forest gump
Be a lot of wiggly serves going out of bounds. I kid, he should try rock climbing. I’ll belay him happily, as long as he wants to get up there.
English much?
Daddy had Parkinson's and he played tennis. Is that like ping pong? Only bigger?
Wonderful report!
