@@maxguitto Hello Max, I am working on a FD mount for the breech-lock version of the FD lenses (silver ring mount). You can contact me in the Shapeways page to see the compatibility for your lenses.
Hi, Would the mount linked in the description fit an FDn 35mm f/2? Also, do you know if this lens will stick too far back to fit on a full-frame camera? Thanks!
I’ve tried to send a message through Shapeways, but I get an errors message (I’m logged in). The “FD to EF mount for 35mm f/2 S.S.C.” description states, “This BETA mount was designed to modify and adapt the Chrome Nose FD 35mm f/2 S.S.C. Lens to use it with EF Cameras”. I own a Canon FD 35mm f/2 S.S.C. lens, but mine has a black tip. Should the FD to EF mount still work for my lens? Thank you for these great products!
Hi there. I am now currently owning some Cano nFD lenses. 24mm f/2, 35mm f/2, 50mm f/2, 85mm f/1.8 and 100mm f/2. I want to modify them all just like the way in this video. But I have some questions. The mount you designed that is selling on Shapeways, does it fit all kinds of Canon nFD lenses? Or dies it only fit certain lenses.(Like your Canon 50mm f/1.4 and 100mm f2.8, I wonder did you design ONLY for these two particular lens? Or ALL Canon nFD lenses) And also the aperture control arm. I see you made a short version for 50mm f/1.4 and a long version for 100mm f2.8, but do these two arm models cover ALL the nFD lenses? Because I am modifying my FIVE lenses, and I wonder if I can purchase the right ones from you. Please let me know, thanks..
Thanks for this! Appreciate it. I'm about to order 7 of your EF Conversions for my nFD. The 17mm f4 is an odd lens, does that specific lens need the short arm or the longer arm. Thanks again!
Very cool! I have an old Canon macro lens that I've been trying to get to work on my M50. I bought an adapter and can't get it to shoot. Guess this issue is why?

After converting your lenses to EF, have you had any infinity focus issues when mounting to a Sony mirrorless camera? My hope would be able to use these on both a C300 mk2 and A7S2. Thanks!
hi bro! I am new in photography, have dji Mavic Pro and did some cool videos last year... today I found Canon AE1 from 1977 which belonged to my father...I am not interesting for using it(because it is film), but I also find 3 FD lenses: 35 mm, 50mm, 100-200mm... I am glad to here that those lens can mount at modern digital camera with those adapter...what adapter is best and do you have idea which modern camera should I buy up to 300-400 usd? ty very much :)

Didn't test it on a Film camera, but it is probable that the rear element mash into the mirror. On a 5D and 6D the mirror gets stuck when the lens focus to infinity, I could take photos from 1 meter or less without getting the mirror stuck
adapters are useless when converting to modren EF. The focal distance is 2mm shorter in FD lenses compared to EF, this means that its physically impossible to adapt this lens with a correct focus range. The adaptors available either work as a macro tube (extender) or have an extra element in them which degrades image quality and limits the max aperture. The only way to properly adapt these lenses is with a modified mount like the one in this video.
rob b you don’t understand the difference between a conversion and adapter? You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about and I recommend no one else take your advice.
This will ruin your lens. You are not take into account the different flange distances of the FD camera lens and the EF camera lens. This will result in inaccurate focus and no infinity focus. Get an adapter and don't do this.
This mount conversion does take flange distance into account. I've done this to an entire set of my FDn lenses, and they produce GORGEOUS images. Infinity focus is just fine. The optical element in most FD to EF adapters adds further cropping of the image and ghosting when your aperture is wide open. This is absolutely way to go.
@@brainbonkk Hey, I'd like to also build a set of FD lenses with this conversion done. Could you explain which aperture arm will work on which lenses? I'm trying to do a 17mm f4, 28mm f2.8, 35mm f3.5, and a 100-300mm f5.6. Will the arms currently for sell even work for all these? I'd love to know what worked for you and what lenses you modified. Thanks!
@@dangdatsgood6672 it's tough, because each lens' aperture control works differently than the next. I'm not familiar with the 17mm, 35mm, or that particular zoom, but I do have a 28 f2.8 that I modded, and I can tell you requires a circular aperture control mechanism since it doesn't have the same "goal post" style aperture as shown in the video. The only place I could find one was fdtoef.com, but his conversion kits are pricey. Most of the zooms require long aperture arms to work. If you click on the links in the video description and check out the user's profile you'll see one like I'm talking about. But you may still need a ring-style mechanism to use it. Like I said, it's tough because the internals are all so different.
Ef has a flange distance of 44mm, fd has a flange distance of 42mm. Add another 2-4mm for an adapter and you've very quickly gone the wrong way for infinity focus. Removing the FD ring from the lens and replacing it with a thinner ef ring should in theory allow you to get the FD lens to match the original 42mm flange distance from the ef cameras sensor. Reducing this distance may cause issues with mirror cameras, but in the age of mirror less and video cameras this is not such an issue.
