My FD 50 1.4 came on my AV-1 I bought in '83. I kept it when I upgraded to my A-1 in '85, still shoot my A-1 sometimes. I bought the Amazon adapter and shoot it on my R 50. It's kind of amazing that I still have and shoot my first lens 41 years later.

I love FD lenses on my Panasonic Gx9 and G9. It just takes the harsh "video look" off your footage and the manual focus rings are just a dream to operate

I love using focus peaking on my M50 with manual lenses. Really enjoy the 7artisans and TTartisans lenses too

You will miss focus most of the time, a better way is zooming and focusing but with the M50 is slow and painful to do. one of many reasons I've sold mine

You need a EF 50mm 1.4 USM to compare.
I loved it, i began photography properly with this lens and used it for over 10 years.
Also, it fits much better (considering its "low" image quality) to the FD 50!
But as much i liked this lens... it began with AF & MF problems in cold weather, i repaired it and sold it for a RF 50mm 1.8, MUCH BETTER LENS and no EF RF adapter needed for such a portable/light lens is a charme!

    I really like your photos.
    The color is so comfortable.
Will there be a coloring tutorial?

I like optical equipment more than electrical home appliances.

Would you say the same if the LensBaby, in terms of vintage field photography 🤔🤔🤔🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

I had the 50 1.4 usm and still own the 50 1.4 ssc fdn, they are almost identical. In 40 years canon didn't change jack sht

I find that the FD lenses are a stop darker than modern lenses. I can only compare FD to Sony E but my FD 50mm1.4 SSC is notably darker wide open than my sony E 50mm1.8. The background separation and general image rendering is in my opinion much better on the FD though.

What adapter do you use for the fd to ef ? I’ve heard people say that the glass is very close to the camera internals and isn’t the best line of lenses to adapt.

The adapter I have, spaces the lens out of the way of the mirror, but compensates with an integrated glass element to maintain infinity. A bit clunky. Not an issue on mirrorless bodies.

FD to EF adapters definitely aren’t ideal because of the glass element in them. They’re ideally adapted to mirrorless cameras but there are permanent FD to EF conversion kits that you can get as well that work a lot better.

The FD is a great lens. But it does have a unique look to it. It's something to be mindful of when shooting for client work.
