He sings songs of a great generation of australians long gone now but still fondly remembered by a few that knew them when we were young .what a great generation they were
I had a uncle who died a pow. On the burma railway Pt Albert Willy.and knew and worked with a soldier who came home.a lot of the apprentices at work were buying new jap cars but Snowy wouldn't even sit on one.he hated the Japs he called them dirty little nips
Great performance! Sent this video link to a friend in the United States. Her comment (Quote): "I enjoyed this song for Father's Day and sent it to my brother."
Dear Eric im 67 and listened to your music for years .I was given by the Newcastle Folk Club 1 of Your Great Albums that was stolen in Sydney .I would to have a copy of The Amalgamated Metal and Shipwrights Union Album u did TY Eric and thanks for all the great Music
Eric wrote this song after a conversation he had with a old fella he met in the Bush ranger Hotel in Colector (between Canberra and Goulburn) . Dad would have known the fella this song was written about
@@greybirdo I heard Eric being interviewed on the radio. He said that he and other members of the Monaro Folk Music Society had gone to the Bushranger Hotel in Collector to "bring folk music to the folk". However, the folk were not interested, preferring to listen to Elvis on the juke box. Instead of playing music, Eric sat and drank with an old cocky who told Eric his life story.
yes that when i first heard it on RTE the late late show on a tribute to luke kelly just didn't know at the time it was a cover of the song To be Honest
