September 29, 2024 On John Munro’s birthday, raising a toast, listening to, and remembering this extraordinarily talented musician: Brilliantly skilled guitar and mandolin player, powerful and creative songwriter, wonderful lead and sweet harmony singer, producer, organizer and arranger who shared his love of music so generously, passionately, and delightedly. Best of all, a man with a beautiful gentle spirit who was bright and always interested, kind, witty, enthusiastic, friendly, loyal, and open hearted. Condolences and comfort to his family and companions.
So sad to hear of John's passing. Thank you to you Eric and John for some fabulous music, not least of which John's great composition "While I am Here" that you both kindly allowed me to use as "my theme tune" at talks thus exposing many more to your great music and lyrics.
Several years ago I was privileged to be at a concert by the two lovely men. I was working on a cycle touring book at the time, and it involved passing through some places that left scars on my soul. I wanted to quote Eric Bogle's words on a specific part of life, so after the gig, I asked him. He simply asked me to send him the proposed wording, and said "We do this as people, not by lawyers. If I like what you write, here's my hand" He approved, the lovely man. Still sad at the loss of that other one.
A smashing tribute to a great fella. I have been fortunate to see Eric and John live and it's an experience I will never forget - true talent, musicianship and lots of fun. Thank you.
Just heard of Eric 2 week ago then I heard he is from Peebles. Little old lady in Dublin Ireland told me. Her husbands favourite singer. Small world. Love from Scotland and Ireland 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇮🇪👍 Peebles is my home town💥

It Beggars belief that some people would dislike a tribute to a mans best friend,a man who has given so much joy to generations of folk music lovers. why bother at all if they don’t care? 😢😢
Beautiful... their bond was great and to have your best friend write a song in tribute to you, is awesome....
