This song is exactly what you described: a hug from your parents. The fact that Madonna lost her mum at such an early age made her make up for everything she felt she missed. Little Star is definitely a highlight in Ray of Light!

i think you should check out the documentary madonna rising filmed in 1998 where she and rupert everett went around new york ,in her old apartment,shops she used to visit and people she hung around with before she was famous,originally aired on VH1.

There's a legend that says a foreseer told Madonna she wasn't meant to be mother, it says she was so sad, although as a rule-breaker she is, she decided to change her fate. She looked for Lourdes for so long until the dream came true. Her love and dedication for all of her children are well known. You feel that she's giving them all the love she couldn't receive as a daughter. Her beginning couldn't have been so happy, but the end is. Thank U Beautiful ladies.

Haven't seen this performance in ages, wow, it goes under the radar.
Her voice was quite shaky though on certain parts, the band really played well, stripped down the studio version. Love the studio version vocals more.
Brenda looks at Emily with so much love and adoration, really heart felt and warming. The love is evident from mother and daughter towards each other, the fact that you're taking this journey together speaks volumes. Also When Brenda always looks at the camera, it's feel like she can see me, very nice touch

I think this song is all the more powerful when you know how much of a void Madonna felt when her Mum died. Her love for her children is very real and obvious to see. I’m very glad she has children in her life and has seen them grow into wonderful human beings

My father left my mom as soon as she found out she was pregnant. Strangely, even though it's a mother love song to her young daughter... I feel connected. As a man, I often wondered about that father figure growing up. I guess part of me wants to feel whole.

Hello, little curiosity about the song. The version of the album is very electronic compared to this version. In the part of the lyrics where Madonna sings "never forget where you come from, from love" it was to emphasize that it was really the result of a love story and not, as everyone wrote, that she had only used the man to have a child
