    4:00 - There is currently a 30-45 day wait for the JBA UCA's.... Huge bummer.
    I ordered the same lift as you, but I'll be running 32"s on the stock 16" limited wheels. Thanks for your videos. Will probably watch them a 3rd or 4th time once it's time to install.

      @@TheChapMX Are the JBA's more or less likely to clear than stock UCA's?

      Pluto's Forest you may clear the tires with the stock rims but I’m not sure. With the JBAs, and other aftermarket UCAs, you will have more clearance. I would try what you’ve got and if that doesn’t work, you can always get some spacers.

      @Artemio Medina My aftermarket ones finally came in but I've been running stock UCAs... at first, while offroad, the stock UCAs will ding the coils. After a few trips no more dinging.

    I did a 2" lift on my 2000 4Runner w/ Bilstein 5100's, OME springs, SPC adjustable upper control arms, new front axels & CV joints, new lower ball joints, 17"x8.5" Level 8 wheels w/-10 offset and 285-70-17 Falcon Wildpeak AT 3w's.
    I was getting a pretty severe vibration from 60mph-65mph, but not through the steering wheel...felt like the whole front of the vehicle was vibrating. I installed a front differential drop kit and the vibration went away. The diff drop kits are only around $30-40 bucks and easy to install. The CV joints should last a little longer with an angle closer to stock.

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  3 роки тому +2

      The CV’s in a bind can be a huge issue for sure! I installed a diff drip kit as well. They are simple and effective!!! I’m glad that worked out for you, you would’ve worn through the boots quickly.
      And sounds like a sweet build you did man, you put the right parts on there for sure!!! I love the Falkens as well. Enjoy it !

    I am experiencing that same play in the steering shaft slip joint. I'm not very sure which route would be best for me. I've tried searching for a new steering shaft, but I haven't found any. So I'm looking for some place who could do that tack weld thing you did but not sure who. Have any suggestions?

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  Рік тому

      In order to get the shaft you'd have to get it from a dealer, whether it be in person or online. I can track down that part number for you if you would like it. If you chose to go the tack route (which as I said in the video IS a safety hazard and one must do this at their own risk), any muffler place or mechanic shop in general should have a welder and be able to throw a tack on there for you. It would take them about 30 seconds. As long as you can remove the shaft and reinstall it yourself, should be an easy thing to get done man. Let me know how else I can help. Thanks for watching!

    Hello sir my sons 2002 Toyota 4Runner is lifted and has bigger tires the the vehicle pulls hard to the right Eveans after an alignment . You mention in your video something like that is do to upper control arms . You said to replace with after market upper arms Do they have to be a special type like for off-roading or just any after market none off reading .. FYI it’s lifted just for looks he doesn’t take it off reading . And will this fix the pulling issue . Your help would be greatly appreciated thank you .

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  3 роки тому +1

      Whew okay, you're gonna put me to the test here haha. Let's take this one part at a time, and if anyone else has suggestions, PLEASE COMMENT!
      FIrst off let me be clear, simply replacing the upper control arms is NOT going to immediately fixing a pulling issue. The upper control arms only give you the ability to get correct alignment specs. Now, with this better geometry you should get a better handling experience but pulling is something separate. That means something is wrong. You do not need "off road specific" UCAs. Any reputable company will be good such as JBA, SPC, Total Chaos, Icon. Just know that some UCAs can make your alignment more complicated, which is why I went with JBA. Bolt them on and get it aligned and that should be the end of the story.
      Did you/your son get a print off sheet of paper with your alignment? If so, make sure all the specs are within range, and specifically look at the TOE. The toe is what determines a large part of the straight line tracking of your vehicle. We need this to be within 0-0.2 degrees or so, there is a range on the sheet and it should be in the green.
      Physically look at the vehicle from the front end and look and see if the wheels seem to be pointed straight. Check all the front suspension for anything loose, bent, or anything that looks off in general. Check the easy stuff first.
      Look at the tread on the tires and see if you see any weird wearing, feathering, cupping. Does one front wheel have way more brake dust on it than the other? This could be a brake caliper sticking, which will pull.
      Check and make sure your sway bar end links are both intact. I had a sway bar end link break on one side only and the 4Runner started pulling immediately.
      Lastly, if you haven't seen anything obvious, jack the vehicle up and shake the wheels back and forth, up and down, see if anything seems loose or obviously wrong.
      Check back in, we will see if we can sort this out! Troubleshooting can be difficult and frustrating but I love it. Hope this helps more than complicates things. Ask any questions you've got and we will try to get it sorted out.
      Fine print...I'm not a mechanic so perform all of these things carefully and at your own risk! Do not do anything you're not comfortable with.

    HELP !!!! Can someone point me in the right direction in resolving my 98 4Runner issue? When I engage 4H it goes in silent but when it goes back to 2H (disengage) the is a loud bang (like a sled hammer bang). The is a delay for about 30 second to disengage as I drive down the road. My other 4Runner does a loud click only. I don't know the history on the car but I have changed all the oil already.

      Dang man, that does sound crazy. There are always some noises when using the transfer case but that seems like a lot for sure.
      One thing that’s throwing me off though, I didn’t think a 98 would have push button 4wd engagement? It’s not a “j-style” shift pattern to go into 4wd? It’s a forward and backward only shifter with a 4wd button on the side?

      @Asian_Connection 3 роки тому

      @@TheChapMX Yes, the 98 is a limited with a stick shifter L,N,H with the $H button. The same as my 97 Runner. But I don't think the 98 have center or rear Diff lock at lease I don't see the button.

Im thinking about down the line when it's time to replace tires moving up from a 265/70/16 to a 265/75/16. These automated systems on websites say the bigger size doesnt fit my car however, they're not accounting for the lift. Any insight if they should fit?

      Yeah they don’t know what they’re talking about! Haha. Not sure if you know this but the 99 is the tallest from the factory and the 01 (which I also have) is the one that sits the lowest, stock. However, I see no issue with 265/75-16s on yours stock absolutely no issue with a little lift. Many have done it man, it’s a great size! Try to see if you can find one in an SL rating vs E rated. That will continue your smoother ride. Good luck on it man and thanks for checking it out

      @@TheChapMX The UCA bit surprised me, hadn't heard that from other UA-camrs. Something to prepare for.
      Mine is also a mail truck, gets 120 miles a day on average. A lot of hard steering, curb jumping, etc. I really hope a diff drop is enough for the CV's. I've seen some UA-camrs talk about bringing a spare CV along for the ride, like it's nothing. That's not who I want to be.

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  3 роки тому +1

      @@plutosforest hahah man I couldn't agree more, people do throw CV swaps out like its adding air to a tire haha. I understand if you're a regular trail guy I guess this could be something you do more often but I'm not going to carry around a spare CV axle when its my daily driver. That to me means something is very wrong as far as adjustment. I will say that with my diff drop and the amount of lift I have on the front I feel my cv axle joint angles are very good. And one other thing, worst case is you are going to bust the cv boot from a bad angle first. I wouldn't see you breaking one in half unless you ride around with the boot busted for 2 years, hence eliminating the need to carry around a spare CV.
