- Zack Snyder's Justice League is finally here on HBO Max, and whether you think it's a good movie or a good DCEU or not, it is definitely better than 2017's Justice League directed by Avengers director Joss Whedon. To explore some core ways the Snyder Cut improved on Josstice League, let's revisit younger Filmento's videos to find those out -- "Justice League - Anatomy of a Failure" and "Why Infinity War worked and Justice League Failed". And now Warners let's make Justice League Part 2 and Justice League Part 3 with Darkseid and Anti life equation superman and knightmare and all that stuff. Ok.

Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
In Zack Snyder's Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) clash over differing philosophies about what kind of heroism is needed to protect the world, while the public they're defending is becoming increasingly mindful of the damage that superheroes and masked vigilantes cause. However, the duo are soon forced to confront an even greater threat created by nefarious billionaire Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). Directed by Zack Snyder, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also co-stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred the butler, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

One minor change I really like about the Snyder cut is how Aquaman no longer hates cyborg and instead deeply empathises with him and the loss of his father. It feels much more believable than just hating on him and further adds context to how Aquaman loves his own father.
Aquaman accuses cyborg of working for darkseid after he rescued them and the scientists. Also in joss's cut he didn't “just hate on him” but actually had a reason, since cyborgs arm malfunctioned. (Instead of it being a self defense mechanism that works on superman, but not on steppenwolf or darkseid)
@@Backfisch5927yeah, but that was it. After Cyborg explained himself, Aquaman was never a dick anymore to Cyborg. Even after Cyborg attacked Superman, Aquaman was much more sympathetic and less douchy towards Victor. So I still much prefer Snyder's version.

Fatherhood being a theme broke my heart, considering that most likely means that it was dedicated to his daughter before she passed
When I found out he stepped away due to the tragedy no father should ever experienced, made me appreciate his work in his Cut more and understand his drive to finish what he started for his daughter.
@@brandonbumby2356 same man and the way wb fucked over Zack and making Joss fuck up Zack’s vision with his reshoot to sabotage his vision is so fucked up and well let’s just say wb didn’t even watch the Snyder cut so they didn’t know shit about what anything in that movie meant especially when Barry reversed time
Yeah at the end it says, “For Autumn“
That is a common theme in his films, dating back to 2004's Dawn of the Dead.
When everyone was sitting around the table in the mall asking what they were best at and what there Job was before Zombpocalypse, Michael (Jake Webber) said he was best at being a dad.
Snyder's films revolve around family, also until his daughter died he had 8 kids. So something tells me Zack may have had parental issues when he was younger or was raised in a home that family was always put first.
Which made me think he should direct one Fast & Furious film because of the FAMILY theme. Although, word is he vowed no more PG-13 films.
@@WooHoo-itsGaryGnu I agree. Although I’ve never seen the Fast and Furious franchise, Snyder would absolutely do an amazing job with it.
The biggest grace of the 4 hour cut is that Steppenwolf stopped repeatedly saying "motherrr... motherrr"
WWWWHEEERRRRRRR IS MAI MOTHEERRR~! :D
I couldn't even understand what Steppenwolf was sayin in Josstice League, tbh. He was so underwhelming; probably the flattest, driest villain I've ever seen on film. No energy, color, or charisma at all.
@@Refining1 I get that, but what is the big difference with the Snyder cut version of Steppenwolf? I just dont see a big difference honestly.
@@travisadams6279 There wasn't a big difference but definitely a noticeable difference. He had a cooler/more charismatic look with the armor and more beastly appearance, he had more of a personality, was more frightening, and had an actual goal and reasoning that we could understand.
@@Refining1 I liked the CGI better, thats for sure. That means the armor as well. And him trying to make something up to Darkseid is better than saying mother over n over I guess. I just wish the whole thing was better. Wish he was smarter and more menacing. The thing between him and Darkseid was explained. And that there were actual stakes for him conquering earth. Because he apparently owes 50 thousand other worlds, which is insane. And that also means even if he triumphs or falls through on earth, thats only one more. Who writes this crap? And why?
I would like to add something. In the Snyder Cut almost everything is set up properly. Nothing comes out of nowhere. Even Flash's ability to turn back time is properly set up, as they discussed it earlier in the movie. He said himself, that he has a rule to never go near the speed of light, as physics.exe stops working. And he cannot predict what kind of ramifications that could have. The fear of resurrecting superman is instilled in them by the motherbox itself, which is really cool.
You're right. I did wonder whether Flash screwed up the timing of reaching the motherboard when resurrecting superman as well. He approaches just as the box breaks the surface of the liquid but then as he gets closer the box actually rises put again toward his finger as he reaches out to touch it and push it in to the liquid as he arrives. Either way it is an awesome bit of foreshadowing.
@@philiphobgen8283 yes thats why it says the future has taken route in the present
The one thing about this, the UE of BVS, there are NO wasted shots. Everything adds weight, depth and meaning to the movie as a whole. I respect that.

(Which is what Filmento actually said [in this Universe, basically the same], and is VERY true) Anyone who's read a single Superman Comic knows that Zack Snyder doesn't give two ***** about Superman. He wanted Superman to be Rorschach.
That being said, this shows - CATEGORICALLY - that Zack Snyder is an exponentially better film-maker than Joss Wheedon.
Are you certain about that? I mean, Batman kills constantly in a non “Lost your way” storyline back in BvS. It may just be one example, but it’s a biggie. Maybe he did better in this film (I haven’t seen it yet) but he hasn’t done it *perfectly,* to say the least.
Also, Superman was changed to “Symbol of Hope” to a kind of depressed character that only cares for Lois Lane. As I said, it’s probably more well-adapted in The Snyder Cut, and Superman was still decently well-adapted, but it’s still not really a perfect adaptation, nor is it what Superman was and stood for.

Filmento mentions WB cutting the "Flash saves the world" as "what else have they cut". Another example; in Wonder Woman, WB wanted to cut the "No-Man's Land" scene and Patty Jenkins had to fight to keep it in. It's now widely regarded as one of the best scenes in the movie. So yeah, WB execs are basically completely ignorant about what makes superhero movies great.
As an insider of the trucking industry I can always tell when colleges have had their graduations because every factory will suddenly start using new policies and/or suddenly get a bunch of new safety gear.
The kids come out of college with their fancy new degrees and get corporate office jobs at the factories and feel like they have to thump their chests and prove themselves so, they implement a bunch of useless rules.
It's probably the same thing in Hollywood. Kids get degrees. Become big shot producers for a company and just do anything - without thought - to prove that they were worth the hire.
[The new safety gear and policies go unused after 6 months and collect dust in an Indiana Jones style warehouse when the kids finally become complacent.]
This makes me think that WB execs are Marvel fanboys in disguise, sabotaging DC's attempts of making good movies

The Snyder Cut is the product of giving a director full creative-freedom over his movie, studios should learn from this.
I genuinely can’t believe the studio (if the reports are true) saw what ZS had in mind for his own cut and turned it down. ZS’s JL isn’t perfect but it’s leagues better than JW’s. I state it again: Unbelievable.
Wonder Woman 1984 is also the product of giving a director creative freedom. The problem isn’t over who makes the decisions, the problem is simply whether the decisions are good or not.
@Andy 8583 you forgot to mention the originals too😐, The prequels still Tell a good story, the sequels Don't have that freedom and look how they turned out, worse💀

He was hated, humiliated and expelled from his home world - why did he want to go home so badly? What was there for him to want it so badly? His actually loving family? Wealth? Fame? If my government humiliated me and kicked me out of my country I would say "fuck you". For Zack Snyder this was his closure, it still has a lot of flaws, but it's much more coherent, and for him, it was a way to find peace because he associated it with his daughter's suicide. They removed him while he was grieving, so to finish it, for Zack Snyder, it meant finding peace. You can tell how much this meant to him by the sheer number of times he thanks everyone for enabling him and by the credits when he dedicates the film to his daughter. Honestly, the comics, the Superman animated series, even the Injustice 2 fighting game all had better Darkseids. I was massively disappointed by him. Just generic "badass" movie villain lines with a deep distorted voice. Instantly deflate his threat by have him easily beaten by random GC characters you have no attachment to. This is the guy who inspired Thanos. Now they made him look like the store brand knock off with this movie.
You can say this is a cool line because it about the only thing he actually does. It has to be a top 5 moment, because what else does he actually do in this movie to add up to 5 moments? The worst part is this movie added a time travel deus ex machina which would have been a perfect time to showcase and tease DS for future movies. Before Flash reverses time, have DS step through the portal and "win". Have him Omega beam most of the team with easy and then go toe to toe with Superman in a fight, hands behind his back crushing him verbally before one decisive blow nocks back Superman and they stare down as the mother boxes activate. Then have flash reverse time and win as they do normally in the movie. But showing DS as an actual threat for the future, and being true to the character. I can't believe any true Darkseid fan is happy with what we actually were shown in this movie.

Regarding Superman and the Justice League, the main function of the Justice League has been to cover Superman's weakness (kryptonite and magic). Essentially, because Superman has a weakness that literally depowers him, the League ensures that if some mook shoots him with a Kryptonite bullet, there will still be many strong heroes waiting to face that enemy.
Superman's magic weakness also is exploitable in a manner where, in certain instances, much less strong heroes with high magic resistance are much better than Superman at handling magical villains. Wonder Woman and Aquaman are actually much stronger against mages than Superman since Superman's defense doesn't work against magic and he's vulnerable to magical control.
@@joshuakim5240 I get what you're saying but the way i see it, from a writing perspective there's no real reason for the power gap to be _that_ high. The way you describe it, the Justice League should've just been called Superman League or something lol. And really, given that insane stat gap i doubt Superman can't just blitz and instant kill whatever mage he fights if much slower and weaker Wonder Woman and Aquaman can give those mages a fight.
Don't need to resist magic if you kill the mage before they can cast spells you know? Overall i feel like Snyder should've at least addressed the stat gap issue more tactfully.

You are making it sound like ALL the jokes were in the Snyder cut when there were only a couple. Also, another reason why Snyder's jokes work better is because of the delivery of the line. Like, if you compare Gal's delivery of "Kal-el, no!" From Joss's to Snyder's, you can hear the difference. Same with Aquaman's "Alright" and "My man!" moment. I feel like this scene where the Flash reverses time to spare a few more seconds can tie in with the quote "No sacrifice, no victory", because as we know, the Flash's ability to tap into the speed force cannot revert a tampered timeline back to its original, like in the Flashpoint paradox, but makes a completely new timeline out of the tampered timeline. I agree completely that it was completely wrong to cut out what I think is the most important scene in the Justice League film, because since he made a new timeline like in the Superman resurrection scene, where he again reversed time to spare a few seconds. This would mean that Darkseid wouldn't just conquer Earth and the heroes are still alive in some way. As we see in the resurrection scene, Cyborg gets a vision of a dark future, where both Aquaman and Wonder Woman are killed by Darkseid (I'm assuming Wonder Woman was killed by Darkseid here) and Superman is turned into a slave to Darkseid with the Anti Life Equation. This actually makes sense since Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Superman are kind of the power players of the Justice League. But back to the Flash reversing time to save the Justice League scene, by reversing time, Flash may have hastened that dark future somehow or maybe an entirely new dark future was made. This was also cut out in the Justice League. And the fact that Joss Whedon chose to cut out such crucial bits and pieces of the original film makes me believe that Joss Whedon and the Christmas bonus seeking idiots at Warner bros are in fact... well, idiots.

When Darkseid stepped on his head, I was like: "Why you gotta do my man like that?", but then I remembered it's freaking Darkseid.
@@GJBattles he would've done worse if the league didn't kill him
Lol
joss whedon: "Well, I believe in truth. But I'm also a big fan of justice"
Zack Snyder: "Not Impressed"
Well, I think the line is very truffle for Superman because it adds a certain tone to the character -Says Joss Whedon.
Boooooooo!
Its impossible not to smile when watching the snyder cut

“NO!!”

I have to say it was nice that he put it at the end
@@delfinenteddyson9865 I agree with you
Internet Historian’s RAID SHADOW LEGEND advertisement is the BEST EVER!
The only thing I had problems with where the overuse of wonder woman’s theme and the “OOOHOHHHHH” in the background also the girls singing after aqua man went into the sea
The singing was so cringe. If they revered him as a god, they wouldn't be using him to translate between the town's people and bruce
@@MrChampionchimp that's true and a god doesn't causally mingle with people like that.
@@Gadget-Walkmen *cough cough* Greek Myth *cough cough*
@@Theo-bk6qj what?
Uh man. He is a human like creature that swim under the sea like a fish and feeds the poor fishing village when its starving. Oh course those women sing to Aquaman like a god.
All the Justice League members have their epic moments.
Superman: First Flight
Batman: Warehouse Fight
Wonder Woman: No Man’s Land
Aquaman: Becoming the One True King
Flash: Reverse Time
Cyborg: Discovering His Abilities and Helping a Struggling Family
It’s simple: jossitice league was a studio mandated Frankenstein of a film that combines two different visions and hired a marvel director who reshoot and rewrote the whole thing to a 2 hr soulless cgi fuck fest that tries to be marvel.
Snyder cut was the four hr long epic that came into existence thanks to the Snyder cut movement and the studio finally allowed Zack to complete his vision and give us the version of the film we always wanted, even if it isn’t the greatest movie in cinema.
Tbh i think despite its flaws the film is one of the best Superhero films i seen (Still personally think Infinity war is better tho)
I think that's the best summary. I think this finally establishes that Joss Wheedon is a middling director and cinematographer, and Zack Snyder is much better. Joss Wheedon should stay in his TV series with limited action, because he *cannot* direct action.
@@jammygamer8961 You simply *can't* top something like Infinity War. The build up to it, so many years dedicated to these characters, Thanos was such a huge threat to the Main Characters and was like, an actual person and not some guy who is evil for the sake of being evil. There is so much to love about Infinity War, it's really superhero movies at their top.
Unless you are The Incredibles which is arguibly the single best superhero movie ever made.
@@sheenpailovesu7841 agreed.
Also Megamind is another good animated superhero sort of movie
@@jammygamer8961 Megamind was also a super fun movie with a great emotional story, I really love.
I just think Infinity War and The Incredibles are the better movies
Shazam was a good balance of humor and terror, the deadly sins are actually horrifying and Billy Batson jokes are quick and funny, I love the gag where the villain monologues but they are so far apart Shazam can’t hear him (perfect deconstruction of that trope)
Yeah, Shazam is a very fun movie. But even for ZSJL, even tho the movie was mainly serious, there were jokes and relatively funny scenes that made me chuckle, while also fitting the movie perfectly.
Shazam! was so different than other DC movies with all of its jokes and humor. But it felt alright because it was the movie about the young boy and from the beginning it aimed into more comedy style. The problem with Josstice League is that it's very serious story, with sspecific characters and a sequel to a very dark BvS. So the jokes in Shazam! made this movie more authentic while in JL made it stupid. And in ZSJL we have a lot of jokes but they are more discrete and they feel like something what heroes could actually say in such situation.
Yeah, Barry said "with the power of love" actually made me laugh
what I love about Shazam! was that David F. Sandberg could've just disregarded what came before, but he actually decided to pay homage to it, and I respect him for it. that's why I'm pumped for Black Adam and Fury of the Gods
@@justhair17 I kinda wish the “somethings definitely bleeding” joke was in ZSJL. It’s actually kinda funny
Batman : I work for Alfred.
Aquaman: Badass Alfred.
Best line of the hole movie. That makes the film at least 100 times better.
