I've known for years that the mongoose was the arch-enemy of the cobra. But I always thought it was just their speed and ability to avoid the snake strikes. I had no idea they're actually resistant to the venom too!
Just like Zangoose(a Pokemon). and a zangooses natural enemy happens to be a serpent like pokemon called seviper, and they DON'T get along while zangoose even has an ability called immunity which makes it completely immune to the poison status condition. Just thought it was a fun parallel to drop on this thread. of course... this is no coincidence either as pokemon tend to be based off of real things. lol.
Man, I remember watching so many shows of Mongooses versus other snakes in Okinawa. It was so surprising to see just how much faster they were in so many tests like swimming and whatnot. Watching those really showed me just how scary a mongoose is to a snake
Outstanding! And true as well. Mongooses are so quick that they can practically take out anything. They have very thick fur, which helps mitigate the damage from snake bites and other creatures as well. And they have a special element in their blood that helps counteract snake venom.
Mongooses have the speed, agility & viciousness of cats combined with the intelligence & the phenomenal learning ability of dogs. Formidable creatures. I hate snakes, until I see one up against a mongoose. Then I just start feeling bad for the snake.

@@ejosjek52.87 They can. you didn't understand their technique they bite the body of the snake and ants and other flees easily finds the wounded animals , and once thet get you you're a dead man. So the Moongoos dont try to kill snakes , they just wound thm and anaconda will easily get wounded coz of bigger body.
The mere fact this thing can square off with a black Mamba(second deadliest venom record holder for land snakes) is amazing. For us humans one bite equals one way trip to heaven in about 30 minutes give or take.
