- Airbus' multi-role attack helicopter, the Tiger HAD, was created to function in challenging team situations and intense combat. The Tiger is perfect for armed reconnaissance, air or ground escort, air-to-air combat, ground fire support, destruction, and anti-tank warfare because it has been successfully used in action.
To my knowledge they did not incorporate open software architecture which results in excruciating difficulties in upgrading or modifying the Tiger, among many other reasons. It is certainly a highly advanced and capable attack/reconnaissance helo, but due to software/engineering over complexity, spare parts shortage and other technical reasons, it is really difficult to maintain and keep operating. The fleet's operating ratio is very low, up to and above half of the fleet is not operational at any given time. If I remember correctly there were instances where even up to 75% were down. That is the reason why Germany and France decided to cancel any modernization/upgrade plans and Germany is now considering the Apache. France is always very sensitive when it comes to acquisition of US military systems, not only for itself but when it comes to other European nation. That is why Germany has to navigate very tight waters when it comes to their decision of acquiring potentially the Apache. I don't know whether France is going to modernize their Tiger fleet in their own or whether they follow Germanys suit, but is likely that they cancel the modernization plans too. Australia regretted the acquisition of the Tiger ever since they got them... So, the Tigers reputation is not the best, at least when we consider every aspect of operating a Helicopter.
well said ,spot on australia just grounded their tiapan helo permently
It hurts best looking attack helicopter😢
EUROCOPTER TIGER IS A COMPLETE FAILURE.
GERMANY HAS WITHDRAWN THEM ALL FROM SERVICE.
THE NEW AW 249 ATTACK HELICOPTER IS THE BEST
They omitted fitting a gun system because they said it was unnecessary, ignoring the fact that a gun gives you another attack option. They eventually realised their error and added one.
So good . .Australia is getting rid of them
And Germany
Talking about the Cobra in the first few minutes and not ONE image? All I see are Hueys?
I agree according to its speed and maneuver
It is called A H -64 APACHE. Not H A.
Yeah and its not batter either. Seems like standard AI fare.
The Eurocopter Tiger certainly looks and sounds cool.
It's just that nobody likes using it. In the West, I don't think anyone is going to top the Apache, for now anyways.

This was in goldeneye, the bond film
Very much how I know this helicopter from
Please fix Apache role name, it's AH not HA 🥰
Maybe it is, but first you need to compare the manufacturing technology, the materials from which both helicopters are made, and their structural engineering.
AH 64 c'est un COBRA,l'APACHE c'est HA 66!!!
Of the two .. the Tiger looks like its the better scout / recon / Stealth.. Apache has the more armour and carries more
In future wars .. with drones taking over than... helicopters wont do scout / recon / ... So Apache has a future suitability

Dpnt trust Wikipedia dude itsax takeoff weight is 6.6 tons
Awesome helicopter but the Apache is superior
The Tiger is crap it’s flight hrs to maintenance time is horrible it’s design and avionics did not anticipate future technologies and upgrades copying is very flattering but it is still a cheap attempt at copying. Its payload isn’t even close to the Apache.
No, no it isn't
Ask Australia?
They say it cost more then the Apache to operate so they are replacing it.
@@pandibbarmanIt is now reaching its operational potential, but its taken more than half the program life to achieve this, and yes, you could be right
@@alexlanning712 Yes, like the NH90, it is a very complex machine. Most European countries wanted to get rid of the NH90 but mine has changed its mind. They wanted to get rid of it but now bought more. Like with the Tiger, you need a proper software to tell what part to change, when, and well in advance. Basically, you have to "not thinck" obey the software. At least that is what I heard.
@@maxcyber well by all reports of our recent MH90 crash(which killed 4 highly experienced crew)-they would contradict what you are saying
@@alexlanning712 It can't contradict what I say because I stated facts : my country has decided to stop retiring them and buy more of them. The australian crash is an horrific event but time will tell if the NH90 is trully a failure. (You have a link to the official accident report ?). It makes way more sense for the Aussies to buy the american safety net in the region. Their Navy is second to none (by far).
The best European assault helicopter is Italian Mangusta
