I just want to say thank you. So many yoga videos treat adjustments as an extra or don't even consider it. I really appreciate you working it in so naturally and not adding any shame to it. I'm working on not pushing myself too hard so the modifications were a helpful reminder that it's about what feels good, not "accomplishing" a certain thing.
I actually found this yoga class a bit hard, but I modified, I haven't been taking care of myself lately, I have Fibromyalgia and I'm so tired all the time! This one really woke me up! I think I'll try a short walk now and then rest! Thank you so much for your videos, You are the best!
@@bridgetanne8242 I feel that! Sometimes I get so focused on doing something that I forget to listen to my body until it's too late. I hope the past year has been a time of recovery and you are doing well!
It was great that you were trying to make a video for the ME/CFS community but there were a couple of things I’d consider for next time. The music had a high pitched noise throughout. Sensory overload is common for ME/CFS sufferers so I’d either have no music or something that didn’t include high pitched sounds. There was also a lot of forward bends, childs pose and downward dog. All fantastic poses. However for people with ME/CFS, POTS can be a real issue (definitely for me), so these poses added a lot of pressure to my forehead. I had to just lie on my back that whole time. I’d already spent the first 7 minutes doing that. While it was good to move my body some, this wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. I wish you all the best 🌱🌿🌺
Jaime Drumm I enjoyed this but I agree, my ears are still ringing after the video from the high pitched noise. I didn’t like that part at all. It caused me to have my hearing fade out briefly as well.
Also had to abandon this because of the high pitched noise. So sad, because I was really enjoying it. Rachel, could you do a similar new one without that awful sound?
I usually don't feel well after doing a yoga practice, but this felt gentle enough for me, and I feel great after my practice. Thank you so much! I started crying twice in your video--totally unexpectedly--when at the beginning you said to notice how you feel without judgment. I think I judge my body constantly, it's always letting me down in one way or another. This gave me a space to think of my body as my friend for a bit and I loved it! The other was when you said to think about sending the light out into the world. Thank you for shining your light, it really left me with a positive, happy experience. You're awesome!
I have cfs and did not hold downward dog for as long as you did but still I did it and I loved that you started with shivasana. I really loved this sequence and feel I have more energy
I have to agree with a couple of the comments regarding the sound issue. The tone provokes a stress response in those with sensory issues. The majority of CFS/ME patients have a dysfunctional response due to nervous system impairment. Think of it like having your nervous system stuck in Over Reactive Mode. I wasn't able to complete the workout due to this. Another suggestion would be to show a modification for some exercises that may be too strenuous for some people. An example would be The Downward Dog. While some people may be able to perform this move, many can't at the beginner level due to balance, flexibility/strength issues, and autonomic response issues (holding head in the low position can effect heart, pressure, balance, nausea, and so on). This is where a modification move, or a different exercise altogether, would be appreciated and beneficial to many. I do not give this feedback to be negative. I give it as constructive criticism only. To improve upon. I appreciate your calmness and see where you have the potential to help others with self care techniques. I sincerely appreciate your willingness to reach people via this platform to help them improve their quality of life. There aren't many people that are willing to do this. We are limited in options, and limited by our own bodies. There are close to 3 million people living with CFS/ME in the United States. But yet, we have very few options targeted towards addressing our issues of varying degrees of exercise intolerance. Almost non-existent. That's why I hope you see the encouragement behind my critical feedback. I hope you'll build upon your foundation instead of thinking perhaps, "what's the use?" So many of us are eagerly seeking a type of exercise regimen that is adaptable to us and would be of tremendous use. I have several friends with similar health issues who would also benefit. I'm a member of a few online support groups, where hundreds are also interested in this type of instructional video aimed at our targeted audience. It's been the subject quite frequently. I would love to be able to share with them, a workout video created by you, that is aimed towards our specific and restrictive needs. I hope that you'll keep that in mind.
Hi Laurie! I appreciate your comment. This video is 5+ years old, and I think you’d enjoy some of my newer videos 🙂 I also have additional resources available on my website www.sleepysantosha.com
Love the video! I did it all and felt great after, but my CFS is bad enough that I think downward dog was too much for me and I'm paying for it now! Do you have any suggestions to modify or replace it with a different pose? Thanks!
Hi Lori M.! Thank you for your thoughtful comment! So glad you enjoyed this practice! Downward dog can be modified by using a wall or you can skip it all together and drop back into child's pose instead. Whatever feels right to you. Here's a blog post with instructions for how to modify down dog: sleepysantosha.com/downward-facing-dog-adho-mukha-svanasana/ I hope this helps! Namasté 🙏🏼💕
I hear a subtle high pitched background noise, it disturbed this beautiful routine. What is it? At one point I thought it was a noise from outside my home, but realise its on the audio.
Hi! My first thought is that it sounds like your body is craving rest right now and this practice might have actually been too much. But you could try a more active one and just approach it with care and caution so that you don’t overdo it. Pain, feeling sleepy, holding your breath, or just not feeling quite right can be signs a yoga practice is too difficult. I think it could be worth experimenting to see what your body truly needs! Be sure to check out the newer classes on my channel ✌🏼💖
Hi Rachel, Today i have started this yoga program. I was diagnosed with COVID 19 in March and still lingering effects of chronic fatigue persist. I was with you with for most of the parts but m unable to do the 20:03. Can you help out an alternative for that. Thanks, Robin
Sorry to hear you are still struggling with fatigue! Some alternatives for downward dog would be table top pose, child’s pose or puppy pose. I hope this helps! Namaste 🙏🏼❤️

First time out of bed for a week. After many hospital visits’ with no help....I just did half of your video and it was nice to feel alive. Thank you !
Maybe you should ask to be tested for POTS syndrome, or just look it up and see if it relates to you
I finally found a yoga video that is slow and gentle enough for my CFS. Thank you.
Did it help?
Its so hard to do chores with cfs 😕
Same! I love the incorporating of modifications. It helped me remember to do what feels comfortable.

Loved this thank you. Have been afraid to do yoga with CFS. But this was so gentle and was perfect. Thank you x
Me too. I’m scared of overdoing it and getting worse again.

Yep I found that awful high pitch sound awful, didn't finish the routine
Rachel you didn't address the high pitch sound comment?
