Thank god you two 'get' this film. You wouldn't believe the kind of stupid youtube responses this has got, ranging from confusion to out and out annoyance/disgust. It's like the world has forgotten what the word 'Satire' means. I mean for gods sake Taika's mother is a Russian Jew, so to think he couldn't be trusted with this subject matter is nuts.

I think that scene in the trailer where the girl tells JoJo that he's not a Nazi, he's a ten year old kid wanting to dress up and belong to something is Taika talking DIRECTLY to these guys marching around the US as Neo-Nazi's, and the Charlottesville White Supremacists and the like. They want to draw Swaztikas everywhere and wear the headbands but have no clue what Nazi's actually were. They play at being something they aren't.

@@notleftvsrightnationalismv4666 A 'Nazi Trump'? Jesus Christ, the sheer idiocy, blind hatefulness and ignorance contained in that statement is beyond belief. Churchill was a lone voice in the British Parliament warning against the rise of Hitler and the Nazis in the 1930s. Then after the German conquest of Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium and France between April - June 1940 it was Churchill who refused to surrender, despite the then hopeless odds against him, leading Britain and its Empire (including the Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans and Indians) to fight on alone against Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy for the better part of a year until Hitler invaded the USSR in June 1941. Get yourself an education and try learning about what actually happened in the Second World War and spare us the anachronistic moral hypocrisy about a man, who however flawed by today's moronic infantile woke standards, did more to defeat fascism and the rule of the dictators than any other individual leader of the Twentieth Century.

Taika deserves A LOT of credit for this. This is a dangerous line to walk and it looks like he's not only going to pull it off, he's going to knock it out of the park. Not only is it going to be a great story about dealing with the uncertainty of childhood, I think it's going to be an incredibly strong statement about the emotional and intellectual immaturity and ignorance of prejudice and the horrific outcomes that can follow when these unstable adult children are given actual power.

This trailer reminded me of going to the show of one Jérémy Ferrari. He's a French comedian who deals in dark humour. During his show, he likes to sprinkle some dark, serious facts in between jokes. So I'll be laughing my ass off, then stare into the shadows telling myself "oh, god..." then right back to laughing. You walk out of his shows entertained, but thoughtful. This trailer felt the same, and because of that, it gets my trust.

Life is mostly a battle to be able to enjoy where you currently are. At each point of our lives we tend to look back at a previous age and say, "I wish I'd enjoyed that more." While we often ironically still, even as adults, fail to appreciate the moment we're in like we did when we were children. Little off-topic, but Jay's comment about wishing his younger self would have taken things easier made me think about it.

I guess it reminds us of innocence that is in turmoil when hate tries to influence it. It will always be a hard subject to deal with and even put satire to it, but this is a child pressed into service, with an imaginary friend (Taika if you didn't catch on) realizing how wrong the Nazis were and still are. That one actor (Sam Rockwell) drill sergeant guy is the same one who played a KKK leader who befriends a black civil rights woman in "The Best of Enemies." That's the type of movies that are out there now. But I think it'll be awhile until we see something like this, especially humor, dealing with ISIS and the Taliban terrorists...

And it is realistic, 10year olds at the time, really went to "scouting" they played games, did challenges ect ect, just like now at scouting. The only thing then was, they had no idea they were being prepared and actually brainwashed to kill and hate Jews. (and other religions). The whole point of tje movie is to show how it was for 10year old German boys. It seemed fun, exciting, but it was actually the most disturbing brainwashing. Something that still happens in other ways in other wars too. (think ISIS). Kids being brainwashed.
The fact that this kid can learn so much so fast by Just meeting a jew, just shows how influential kids can be... And how fast they adjust to truths when shown.
Many other UA-camrs think they are "excusing" their behavior. NO! They showed how it really went on at the time, and from a child's perspective.
This movie is fun, because these kids were having fun, that was the whole point.
And Im so glad you guys get that! 😭😂

In Fury one of the tanks was taken out by Hitler youths. Historically correct.

Who else noticed the German version of "I'm a Believer" playing in the background in the first half of the trailer?

Totally agree with the Wes Anderson vibe to the film. Looks like a helluva great satiric story with a big heart.

Great reaction! I've got a question though: how is this still up on your channel? I've got an impending third strike on my account for this very same trailer because 'copyright' - despite fair use being on my side. :/

I'm honestly worried because there were apparently reshoots for this film? Also its produced by Disney, so it's PG-13. This should be an R-rated movie in my mind so it doesn't hold back any punches, but I'm really really hoping it doesn't!

You guys look about my age (32) and boy did you missed out, paintball was fun as fuck back in 99-2003 and the fastest growing outdoor activity at the time. My dad went halves on one with me (about $300 in total) and it took 2x out before he was buying all his own gear.
