Sorry, this isn’t remote, but I am still banging the drum for senior companion/assistant/caregiver/driver because there is a critical shortage of in home senior care and it’s only getting worse as Baby Boomers age. Hourly rates vary from $15 - $25 per hour or more. Work for yourself and negotiate your pay rate, hours, schedule, services provided.
the area I live is FULL of retirees and many are pretty wealthy. How do you find these jobs? Most ads are for low paying companies that will give you a million rules and restrictions and want you to work where they want, when they want. I would love to do it for one or two clients. I did some volunteer work for a senior center in my old hometown driving elders to appointments.. I would do it now, but I would rather get paid since I need the cash when i retire.
Fiverr and Upwork.... you can get like one gig a year maybe. VA is a good idea but you should have suggested where to find these jobs esp. for Americans not living in America.
Well, it happened. The economy is in the crapper (yet again) but this time I am 60 and at least got offered a decent severance package. It is ironic because I am at the top of my game and have more to offer than ever before but I was just too easy to layoff compared to many other people who were also at my former government employer. I am lucky because I can ride this out until 62 and then collect pension. I have to downsize, but better that than take a McJob. I am now finding it is possible to have more fun with less money!
@Over50tv Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it! I could write a book about the situation I was in and why I was one of those that was shown the door. In a nutshell, it was a government job and many government employers overpay and also make decisions that are not cost effective and don’t make sense in terms of spending tax-payers money. I think deep down we all know about the waste and abuse, it’s just hard to figure out how to improve the system (we need someone or some group to step up to make improvements but it looks like no one can figure out how or even where to start).
Hi Lou, my name is Steve Adams, and I’m wanting to start a channel which would be mainly a commentary channel. I already have the channel name, “The Average American, and I want to provide information on how Washington and an Administration, affect the average American. Realizing the American population is made up of households where over 50% of them are less than 75K yr. Am I crazy for wanting to do this? I just think most in that class have no idea what goes on in congress, not to mention the presidential election. Just wondering if you think that’s a crazy idea or not? I value your opinion, and am a subscriber to your channel. I’d appreciate any advice you could give. Thanks Lou!!!
Hi Steve! If you enjoy sharing information, like learning and can offer value to your viewers I say go for it. Running a UA-cam channel can be rewarding and can also become a great side hustle. But I want you to know starting a YT channel isn't difficult but it does take determination and a long term view. You may not know that I'm a startup consultant. If you'd like to know how I can help you get started and learn my rates you are welcome to email me at, lou@over50tv.com

What sources would be good for posting those opportunities?

I'll be using the language tutor idea as a backup plan based on your video about having backup plans.
Both of those are good ideas! Thank you for watching my channel.

Sounds like you are in a good position. I'll never understand why the best employees aren't prioritized.
