Such a good breakdown as always. I say it all the time. Alè’s bass playing allows the band to do so much as a 3 piece. There are not a lot of bands that drop the guitar out completely and still sound full. It’s her bass and their harmonies that carry so much of those moments. It’s one of the things that make them so unique
Agree. A lot of people don't realize how hard it is to be in a power trio band. If one just screws up the whole song falls apart. Fails can not be masked. If Ale screws up on those parts you mentioned pau's drums can not recover the song.
Well said, 3 member bands (the good ones) could not exist without an awesome bass player. Her tone, her technique, her stage presence, her bass lines with personality, it all helps have that full sound the Warning is known for. Of course, Dany using the harmonizer also helps.
Just coming back from the concert in berlin ... Gosh - you need to hear Ale playing this five string live - what a sound. It feels like an earthquake coming over you, but still clear and precise. What a wonderfull instrument. And she plays it like a godess - changing between finger and pick like a wizard - once played smooth and in the next moment hard as being hit by concrete... Damn that girl is good at it - breathtaking...
I'm so jealous you got to experience them live. Sounds like it was a memorable experience. If the 5 string bass sounds great on video, I can only imagine how great it sounds in person.
So, so, so, so, so good indeed! & yea, it’s hard to beat Dust to Dust…. but Disciple is SO good…. & who doesn’t love MORE funk…. but Survive is so iconic…. Ok, they’re ALL my favorite (along with the next 5 as well… and 50 others😂)
Thank you for your knowledgeable, technical, in-depth analysis of Ale's amazing talent! Baby sister is such a skilled musician, and truly the anchor of this band. One of the most beautiful young women on the planet, she is also intelligent, capable, humble, and humorous. I am proud to be a "Warning Uncle".
Thanks this is cool! On CHOKE, during the verse, right after the intro and monstrous main riff - there's a beautiful l'il "In the pocket" bass pattern that she does, just gorgeous! And don't you dare not give an 'honorable mention' to that beautiful, but wicked bass slide in ANIMOSITY. 😂 Lookin forward to seein the next five. 👊⚡️🤘
MORE is the most intricate of them .... little slides / hammer on and pull offs are hard enough on guitar ... but She nails everything on a 5 string Bass.... those strings are like cables..... Ale Rocks !!!!
Agreed. From the technical point of view, MORE has more intricacies. Her being able to play those hammer ons, pull offs, slides while singing is even more impressive. She rocks indeed.
Simple yet highly effective basslines which sit in the mix well when needed, but steps up and stands out when the guitar drops out or plays simpler. Not gonna lie, I miss her PJ bass growl from the earlier days, as her 5-string Spector with soapbar pickups only gets that growl when she uses a pick, as she doesn't really dig in when finger plucking and plays with a lighter, more controlled touch. Regardless, Ale has many little bass fills, licks and riffs sprinkled all throughout TW's music that really make up their signature sound.
That's one of the things I like about her playing. She's a smart musician. She knows when to step back and play the supporting role in the right moments of the song. Always giving priority to the whole priority instead of showing off. She's got the skills to play complicated lines in all of her songs but she knows beautiful music relies on balance and she does it perfectly.
Guessing Error is in Part 2, the switching between pick and finger style mid-song is something to behold if you can find a video where she stays in frame the whole time.
At this time not sure if it’ll be on the video cause there is so many to choose from! However, I do plan to make a full analysis of Error in which I’ll explore the entire song including the bassline.
I Love your reaction videos! You sound like such an established musician! Well done! Love these girls, and as they Evolve in their music careers as a band, and composers, the skies the limit for them in the music industry!
Thx so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah, they’re so talented and there is lots to admire about their craft. Stay tuned for more analysis and reaction videos 🤘🏾
That’s a great point. I do have a few videos where I isolate the vocals including Ale’s singing but could be done more. In the upcoming video I have her singing backing vocals on “Money” where she yells “money!”. Cool stuff.
I may always love Ale's bass in Dust to Dust the most - it is right up there with Alice In Chains' Would as my all-time favorite. And thank you for showing everything Ale is doing during the song More, I think a *lot* of fans completely overlook it.
Yeah that line on Dust to Dust is iconic! In fact, this was one of the songs I first listened to when discovering the Warning. One day I was watching UA-cam and saw a short of Ale playing the intro to the song. It peaked my interest.
Ale is the reason this band only needs 3 people...She is often effectively 2 band members in one. Ale doesn't need to sing lead as well. She already has 2 jobs!
Great bass lines. My Favorite "Dust to Dust" Ale's Special Intro The Warning The Warning - Dust to Dust @ Whisky a Go Go - Patreon Release ua-cam.com/video/5Yn2uK1a7Zg/v-deo.html&pp=ygUiRHVzdCB0byBEdXN0IiBBbGUncyBTcGVjaWFsIEludHJvIA%3D%3D
I am Ale’s number one fan. How can I choose when almost all are epic? And on top of all the other accomplishments she is very precise. There is a live performance kicking around UA-cam on which she makes a mistake and both Dani and Pau look at her in surprise.
You're right; they're all epic! The bass is a lot harder to play than what many may think. While it may not be flashy like a guitar/drum solo, playing it requires it a high level of concentration. Mistakes on guitar and drums can be dressed up easily; when one makes a mistake on the bass; even if its minor; EVERYONE notices it. So yeah, more props to Ale for not only playing entertaining lines but having perfect timing and accuracy playing her instrument. A true craft.
Sometimes feel like Ale takes a lot of trash talk from people who either don't know what to listen for in the first place (and/or just don't pay attention to much besides the vocals and guitar anyway), or feel that if she's not constantly playing every measure of every song like Geddy Lee at the top of his game she's "overrated". But if you know what to listen for, and you know the crazy stuff she was playing covers of (Jaco Pastorius, Muse "Hsyteria", etc.) when she was like 8 or 10 (and sometimes looking around like she's already bored and looking for the next thing to play), or that a lot of their music was written when they were so young.... and a lot of bass playing has to serve the song whether or not it's technical or flashy- sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. She does a great job of balancing that, figuring out how to weave something really cool in where it fits, and holding back a little when it is a better fit. Really all three of them have a pretty cohesive view that the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts, that no sister is trying to outdo the others and that the song itself comes first- not sure how many people truly appreciate that they don't just write songs, they really do craft every detail of every beat and every note and every dynamic to fit together perfectly in every detail both musically and lyrically, and they do a lot of changes in almost every song- they are clearly not content most of the time with just a main riff/verse/chorus/guitar solo/chorus "typical" song, their approach is much more like Rush, Sabbath, Nightwish etc. in that regard. That's why on many (most?) songs Dany doesn't even do a specific guitar solo (not to mention at least half of what she is playing while she is either singing and/or jumping around the stage frantically would be considered a "solo" (or more) by the average guitarist in the average popular band anyway). They are all so humble, but both older sisters are routinely praising and calling attention to what Ale does "behind the scenes" both on stage and off (rumor has it she may be the best pianist of the three as well...). That being said, count me in as hoping that someday soon Ale gets a chance to really be in the spotlight (even though she doesn't always love that it seems!) for all to hear at least a little taste of what she can really do, be it expanding on the bass intro that she sometimes used for Dust to Dust live with something that builds up, goes crazy in a jazzy and/or technical way, and then evolves into the bass line for the song- or a new song that they might include a little section where she does some crazy stuff at the start or in the middle of a song on her own without anything else covering it up so even the casual listener has to notice. If she could figure out and play that stuff 8 or 10 years ago as a little kid who had just started playing, I would love to hear at least a little display of her true technical playing ability NOW!

Don’t be silly…listen to more bass players..try Fusion!
Let’s see if she can improve…I like these kids!

Just like the Warning songs, it would be fair to say that every new Ale bass line is my new favorite bass line. haha
Oh, goodie goodie, there's a part 2 coming up! Can't wait! ⚡⚡🤘🏻🤘🏻⚡⚡
in this part is dust to dust
Such iconic bassline for sure. It has a great tone, great note choice, its memorable and overall it rocks.
I freaking love the bassline in More, one of my favorites too.🎸🔥
same, the song hits the core thanks to her awesome tone and note choices.

💯 ! All that hard work and dedication she has put into it has paid off. Excited to follow her on her future.
Ale's lines are so good and so fun to play she is such an inspiration

Thx! There so many good songs for sure! Ale’s lines often have intricacies hard to catch by most but seems you catch them all!

Damn this is very well done sir 👍🏼❤️
Thx so much! Took forever to put together but glad you liked it!!
Congrats for this! Excellent ranking, edition, layout style, bilingual subtitles, sound and color adjust! Great job! Hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷!
Thanks so much Milena! Glad you enjoyed it. Brazil seems like a such a cool place. Would love to visit some day.

I'm guessing that Kool-Ade Kids has to be on the next part. She really has a quite a few that are good but hard to hear.
She said back in the beginning of 2023 that Kool-Aid Kids was her favorite to play
I've been trying to select the next five and its been so hard. She has so many good ones, might have to do part 3 haha
Love her tone.
Same here. And the sound of a 5 string bass is a killer.
Many thanks for this analysis! I find it very interesting 🤘🤘⚡⚡⚡
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I can't pick which of these first 5 i like the most, overall though Automatic Sun is the best i have heard (so-far). My new favorite song 🥰
such a good line for sure.

One day i wpuld love to see anybody showing Alejandra's contributions on the vocals of their songs. I feel it is often too overlooked.
That’s a great point. I do have a few videos where I isolate the vocals including Ale’s singing but could be done more. In the upcoming video I have her singing backing vocals on “Money” where she yells “money!”. Cool stuff.
tecnicamente ela é perfeita. ela até faz slides e bastantes.
Excellent analysis... more than just an Oh Wow reaction.
thx a bunch!

Excelente trabajo. Gracias. Ale y su bajo, que grande. Psychotic es una de mis preferidas por la linea de bajo, pero hay otras. Esperando 2 parte
Muchas gracias! Me alegra que te haya gustado. Si, me encanta la linea de psychotic!
Ale was 13 when she recorded P.S.Y.C.H.O.T.I.C. She is an unrecognized musical prodigy.
She sure is! She has created such great music at such young age, they all have.
Sometimes feel like Ale takes a lot of trash talk from people who either don't know what to listen for in the first place (and/or just don't pay attention to much besides the vocals and guitar anyway), or feel that if she's not constantly playing every measure of every song like Geddy Lee at the top of his game she's "overrated". which app do you use to split the instruments?
Twenty First Century Blood, you said Twenty One.... Cheers....
😅
When I think of a great young female bass player…I think of Mohini Dey!
I don’t hear anything great here…very simple stuff!
