- Grumpy's gonna show you how to clean your pipes, and I don't mean the ones you smoke on. I'm talking about those fancy pipes you puff on with that fancy tobacco.
Now, if you don't clean those pipes right, you're gonna be sucking in more than just tobacco, and that's not what you want. That's why I'm gonna show you how to do it right, using a pipe tool, wire-reinforced pipe cleaners, and Q-tips. And don't forget the fostner bit or wire brush to get rid of all that gunk.
But listen up, because here's the real secret: you gotta let that pipe sit for a day before smoking it again. Yeah, you heard me right. You gotta give it time to rest and recover, just like you do after a hard day's work. And if you rotate through your pipes, you won't have to deal with that wet, bad-tasting experience. Trust me, I've been doing this for decades.
So sit back, grab a pipe, and watch as Grumpy Grandpa shows you how to take care of your smoking pipes the right way. And if you don't like it, well, I don't really care.

Chuckle , I do have a proper pipe cleaning coming out , but sometimes its balls to the walls ( I set up that pipe for that, for the vid , and no it didn't smoke for shit

I can see this being quick/effective with my throwaway cheaper pipes but Good Lord no I would not do that with my Castello or Ser Jacopos
I usually try to clean mine after every smoke, after they cool off. Just pipe cleaners. My wife still says they all stink. lol.

My uncle used brandy to soak out his bits and a bit in the pipe shank to clear out any excess tar and ash. Tried it and it leaves a nice taste to the smoke.

I use brandy if it’s been a long time. I agree on the taste as well

Have you ever used a product called pile sweetener . This product will make your pipe see like new and have a fresh new smell and taste better.

Not a pipe smoker myself, but this was a great instructional video. I found it interesting. What about ending the clean a couple shots with the air compressor? Too aggressive maybe?

I bought an adjustable cutter for removing this junk and a multi-grinder with a small brush to clean it fully. But in general method is the same, only the tools you use are more risky

Interesting, i prefer doing all that by hand using smaller tools. This way i can feel how much gunk or "creme" as we call it, i want to remove.

Quando comecei a fumar cachimbo, usei filtros. Mas mudei para as câmaras maiores - parece eliminar a necessidade do filtro, embora exija mais limpeza dessa maneira.
Use pipecleaners dipped in methylated spirit and buy a decent pipereamer. Finally, wax and polish the wood.
a good method , but with some bad smoke pipes ( poorly designed , som time you have to go viking on it , and no this is not my standard clean

No idea, honestly - it's been about 35 years since I smoked a cobb.
I don't allow my pipes to become that filthy...
I wouldn't recommend using a stanley knife in them either... As for the drill and the wire brush.. no. Use a pipe reamer for heavens sake...

Theoretically you could use a jackhammer to remove carbon from your pipe if you are precise enough. But the risk of damage is intense.
That being said I am in the school of thought that I don't care if I pass my pipes on to the next person. I want to use them however I want and if they don't survive me then thats fine too. Haha
I inherited several of my uncles pipes when he passed. We are still trying to figure out where his two Calabash pipes disappeared to.
