Ok, this is cool. Here I am just going through UA-cam, and I see Skip and The Briary pop up. Needless to say it was a pleasant surprise. I was born and raised in Homewood, graduated Homewood High in 1992. I’ve known Skip since the mid 90’s. Back then they were still at the old Brookwood Mall off of Lakeshore Dr. I now live in West Virginia. A friend I went to high school with, Eric, worked at The Briary for many, many years. I spent a lot of time in there back in the day. So cool to see this pop up this morning. Thanks for making my day! Cheers!
I am a new pipe smoker and was JUST in Birmingham and made a stop at The Briary. Super good store, lots of selection. I just met these fellers today! CRAZY!!!
What a brilliant video of an amazing store. I’m am so jealous you have these places in America. Next time I visit USA I’m coming to this store. Brilliant. Jonathan 🇬🇧
Man, I wish we had a place like this in Oklahoma, a few great cigar lounges for sure, but they still tend to cater to the flashier, louder crowd, this seems like a beautiful place to actually slow down and enjoy a smoke without having to hear ESPN in the background.
@@derekspipesandcigars1892 Tulsan here. We have Ted's Pipe Shop and a couple of pipe friendly cigar places but I wish we had a cool free standing place like this.
I got the privilege of stopping by to see Skip and the crew while on vacation a few weeks ago. What a cool little shop and a great group of guys running it! I'll definitely be back!
I am lucky that Northern Briars pipes are made just down the road from me and now that The Cheshire Pipe Club is up and running I see Ian Walker regulary. Great to see his pipes enjoyed on the other side of the pond. Enjoy yourself everyone!
Hello Jeff, a wonderfully relaxing visit to your local Bricks & Mortar, what a haven to have, so important to support and promote these establishments as you have done here...Northern Briars, I have five of Ian's pipes in my collection, all are superb smokers..Ian is a perfectionist, and the most humble of craftsmen...how long Ian will continue to create these traditional quality classic smoking apparatus is an open question, my comment when pipe aquisitiion is about value / enjoyment / pleasure I have found my Northern Briars to be outstanding investments. Keep Well My Friend, and thank you so much for sharing. Steve.
Good to see that there are a few of these good old tobacco stores still out there! I'm blessed to have a tobacconist from the 1860th in my hometown. You cannot beat this decades of knowledge about pipes and tobaccos. Always a great pleasure to visit. Even if you are not planning to buy something. I always do anyway 😂 thanks for the video! Many greetings from northern 🇩🇪
Not my usual viewing but totally enjoyed the video. I wish I could visit one day. My dad was a pipe smoker and I always loved the smell of the tobacco. He had to quit due to health reasons but kept his pipes for a long time after.
wow, what a wonderful place, absolutely love the look of it with a fantastic selection of pipes & tobacco, love the glass jars..in a perfect world every town should have a shop like this
Nice vape shop 😅 Totally kidding, this is really awesome. So much history and info on display and for sale. I've left combustion behind, but now I want to pull out that old pipe I used to enjoy on the porch when I was 20.
Awesome video and shop! I wish there was an old fashioned shop like this near me. The only thing i can buy locally is overpriced drugstore blends and mm cobs.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video of your local tobacconist. Wah a great place. Very inviting and helpful staff. You are lucky to have this place so close. Cheers Ron
Thanks for the excellent video of the Briary. We are really lucky to have a truly great pipe store and Skip and his staff here in Alabama. I try to make at least one trip per month (4 hours round trip) to visit, acquire new tobacco’s and to my wife’s dismay purchase “More Pipes!” I am Looking forward to the big July 6 event. I will be there. Thanks Jeff for the video.
Great video. I live in the south east alabama region and will have to make that 3hr drive to go check this place out as we don't have any real pipe store type of places around here.

What a treasure--those of us who enjoy the hobby wish that old style shops such as The Briary could be found more widely.
Absolutely! Completely disappeared it seems. What a wonderful thing.
That’s probably the best smelling place on this planet.
Quite possibly!

Cool pipes
Now that’s a proper shop!
Fine looking pipes…
Hi
Fantastic shop hope you have a great anniversary get together
The perfect pipe store.
Just order me some Ephemeris Tobacco- The Finest Virginia thank you for your review
Enjoyed the video. Like another commenter, from South Alabama will definitely be making the 2.5-3hr drive.
Well worth it!
Looks like a fantastic shop!
It is!
Really enjoyed the video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am very envious of your local pipe shop. We do have a “Tinderbox” here in Mobile but it’s nothing like the Briary.
Head north and check out the Briary!
Thanks !!
Great video! I'm subbed!!
Thanks for the sub!
New Sub #383
You’re lucky to have such a place nearby.
Thanks for the sub!
Exactly the same thing as going to a weed dispensary just different product… and very cool
I love pipes
I used to pick tobacco in Virginia when I was a teenager. That was some hard labor lol.
It’s a paradise
Definitely will have to stop but next time im in that neck of the woods!
Seem like a great place. Thanks for taking me along. How many ounces in the jar of Ephemeris?
I didn’t ask, but looks to be about 3. It’s really packed in there.
2oz
man i wish we had something likr this in ireland and at these prices
I love berry cobbler pipe tobacco thought it is very wet. How long should it dry before enjoying? In dry non humid conditions.
Ah I miss pipe smokin ! Gave it up :(
Do they offer samplers from jars before bigger purchase?
Thumbs up.
A little bit Cigary to.
That was cool
Do you get different feel smoking bent vs straight pipe?
In my opinion yes. My favorite curved stem is the Peterson System pipe. I’m a fairly wet smoker, and the “System” helps with that.
Thanks
Will you tell me the make and model number of the pipe you are smoking at the end thank you. Love your channel.
Thanks! Savinelli Alligator 606 KS
@@jeffcargile9372 Thank you.
The video doesn't seem to say where this place is, and then I go on their website and it doesn't have an address either 🤔
609 Oak Grove Rd. Bham AL
Do they have a website to purchase?
Yes! Just check the description.
What state and city is this store. Please provide the address
Birmingham Alabama.
Does that Virginian bite?
Am I a dull boy or am I not seeing where this place is located? There is no address on the website either. It's probably right in front of me.
