[Updated: 7 Aug] It seems TTArtisan is now selling it individually (instead of 10 pack) at their official webstore now: ttartisan.store/products/ttartisan-mini-led-light?ref=rQBwnOw-eDUPxs (affiliated link) I've also updated/reedited my video to reflect that
Just what i needed for macro photography focusing light assist where i can just stick it to the bottom of my camera that has a metal quick release plate
The light design is a cool gimmick, that will certainly appeal to film buffs. I may get one myself. That being said, the most effective lights, whether for video or flash, have larger emitting surfaces. That is why we bounce or add diffusers to flashes, and prefer larger video lights as opposed to smaller ones. So I agree with you, many people may buy this TTArtisan light since it is cheap and cool, but in the end, will never use it.
If you want a bright, soft light, there are thousands of lights that are better than this. Buying this light is mostly because of it's cool design, but it does work as a small fill light at night
@@fintonmainz7845 Nope! I agree with the reviewer. The usability is limited, so we're looking at merely a cool gimmick here. It's very low price and outward design will generate sales to film shooters, as I am part-time, but actual use will be non-existent considering its performance level. Consider the Neewer RGB62 or similar for limited real world applications at a relatively low price.
Bought an M to Z 6 bit adapter from TTArtisan for 79,00 $, shipping cost 25,00 $, ordered three of this instead and got free shipping because order now was 100$. Don't know exactly what I will do with them, but it's nice to have them for free. ;-)
Cool led and a great marketing stunt. I would like to see them make a mag safe plate that fits into the jaws of all those cell phone mounts on tripods and gimbals. Preferably adjustable so it can hold the jaws open to allow any cell phone with a magsafe case, or built in magsafe to be easily mounted on all those clamps to quickly setup any shot without all the fumbling around balancing gimbals or jamming cases into clamps. Magsafe clip could be removed for a stronger hold if needed. Also if it's adjustable, the jaws can be used as guides to keep phone level and snug. Just a thought. I would buy one of it made mounting my phone to a gimbal or selfie stick as easy as just popping it in between the jaws, no fuss. The jaws could hold the plate maybe in the gap which opens when the jaws are separated making it quite thin
@@tobiasdavid3096 you could get it directly from TTArtisan's webstore, but I understand the shipping is not the cheapest. Maybe wait a bit and hopefully you can get from Germany Amazon?
TTArtisan has changed it so you can order 1 now after receiving lots of feedback! But buying a few still make sense as you pay the same shipping anyway.
like the retro design and magnetic rotating mechanism. Maybe in a future they will have a more powerful light with dimming buttons. Having an option to add light modifiers could be cool. By the way, what's the timer app that you used to measure how long the battery would last?
Not necessarily, it depends on the type of LED. A lot of DC powered LED lights do not flicker. This TTArtisan LED also does not appear to flicker. I shot photos/videos using very fast shutter speed e.g. 1/4000s with no flickering issue.
@@TheRealRichardWongJust to clarify a bit: any decent LED dimmer meant for videography has a pulse width measured in the tens to hundreds of KHz, so flicker should be a non-issue. Though given the price point of the device it's definitely a fair question to ask.
I like it, I have a similar light with a square shape, just a little bigger but dimmable, and it works well, but I would like to see a ttl flash with a similar form factor, what do you prefer? doesn't a flash offer more options for photography? for example could you take the photo of the x-t50 review with a continuous light?
If it's purely for photography, flash (assuming however power) would work better. But the cost probably would be a lot more than $7. The advantage of it being a continuous light is that you can use it for video. One thing i didn't mention in this video is that there is a hole on the power button so you can attach it to your key ring or lanyard and carry it around as a little pocketable light
of course this can be used for video too, and unlike the flash can also easily be placed off camera without the need of a wireless trigger. But what I would really like to see is in-camera pop-up flash for all cameras, a few years ago even pro weather sealed full frame cameras had a flash like the d810, now they are not offering it even in aps-c cameras...
@@busydadscooking001 it maybe because my sample is preproduction and they changed it for final production version? Would be interesting to see what other people's unit is like
@@TheRealRichardWong i bet they just have people assembling it who don't care if led 1 or 2 goes on the first or second solder. because it doesn't affect the functionality it really doesn't matter either way, but i think warm-first would be better when you turn it on at night...
@@TheRealRichardWong Thank you. Obviously I missed that. Somewhere on UA-cam is a video about doing macro photograph of fungi in the forest. They guy's photo are gorgeous. He carries small lights, and tenting material to control the light. When I saw your video I thought these would be perfect for fill lights and even key lights for macro work. Thank you.
@@ideapage TTArtisan has changed it so you can order 1 now from their website after receiving lots of feedback! But buying a few still make sense as you pay the same shipping anyway. It may work well for macro as you would place the light really close
First link is $70. Amazon price seems to be always higher. But yeah as mentioned in the review, that's the catch you need to buy 10. Or you order with a lens then it's $7 as well

@adamg.manning6088 $25 sounds expensive, unfortunately it's not cheap to send items with rechargeable battery from china to overseas using fast and reliable air shipping companies like FedEx, DHL. When I tried to return some small gadgets to Amazon US from NZ, shipping cost me more than $200US just mainly because there is rechargeable battery in it. :(

Looks good & useful for toys & food photography
Can anyone recommend a light this size that is more powerful?

Richard, it is a very cool mini led light, I agree with you so much! I wish it comes with the translucent plastic film case. I just bought one today.
That would be cool!
