    He-he! I got mine intruder 534 today a few hours ago. Nice rod. A little bit softer then my favorite tsu dragon II 53..i think dragon can work from 1.5 gram and intruder from 1. Waiting for spring)

      Hey Antin! Very nice! Yes, the blank is much softer than a lot of rods but I think is an interesting mix between MF power and a nice blend of progressive into parabolic bend. I am curious if it’ll stand up to faster moving currents but I think it should be ok. Loving how it casts and the sensitivity as well. Cheers my friend!

      It's more like a mountain stream fishing rod and you don't really need a longer rod for that in my opinion. It's for something like this guy in this video is doing. Short handle very often even shorter rods.

      @@upstreamer1661 hey upstreamer! Yep creek/stream/river rods tend to be shorter to give more maneuverability and also short distance accuracy. I still really like using them for lakes like this though as you dont always need to get to the middle of the lake to find fish and they’re typically better balanced and lighter than 6’+ rods. Plus they’re generally lighter in power. All good things imho haha. Cheers my friend!

      Hey Ricardo! Yep as upstreamer states the diameter is 0.6 goh. I try to stay fairly consistent with my braid diameter in order to remove it as a variable in a sense. That being said, actual diameter varies so much between different brands and product =\. Anywho, thanks for commenting and stopping by! Cheers my friend!

      @HINGCHANNEL I actually think that under a certain point the smaller braid gets to compact on the spool and makes casting more dificult with lighter lures.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  5 місяців тому

      @@RicardoReviewhey Ricardo! Hm that’s opposite to what I thought was the common ideology. Most people think thinner braid will cast farther than thicker braid. I think to some degree this is true but imho the benefits do not really outweigh the downsides… I think the lowest I’d ever go is 0.4goh. 0.2goh has snapped on me before during casts and I much prefer my braid to be a bit stronger than my fluoro leader strength. Plus thicker line is a bit easier to manage as it has some weight to it and won’t float around in the wind as much. Cheers my friend!

  • @fuzzy_little_duckling
    @fuzzy_little_duckling 5 місяців тому +2

    Seems like a pretty nice rod, but it's still not what I'm looking for. Peter, do you have any suggestions for a bfs rod that can compact to an even shorter length than this rod (telescopic or multiple pieces) but also has a nice backbone (so it can handle a small bluegill but also a decent sized steelhead)? If you have any ideas, I would really appreciate it!!

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey fuzzy! Hm… a telescoping rod or an even smaller multi piece that has a F action to handle bluegill and also steelhead… I have some ideas but imho you’d be comprising something. Bear with me as any budgetary requirements go out the window lol. So for multi piece trout style rods that have good backbone and can handle a good size steelhead I’d say the fishman beams blanc Sierra series would be a good choice. I’m not sure how compact you need to go for the sections though and this may not be as compact as you need? For telescoping, the kawasemi rhapsody is a fun rod and can totally be used for bg and trout but I don’t know that I’d go hunting for huge trout over say 5lb. It might work but then I’d go really light on the drag… There’s also the fact that my copy had the tip section snap out of nowhere but to be fair it had seen something like 40-60 1lb stocked trout right before the tip fractured. Can you tell me how compact you need your rod to be and what your budget is? I can probably think of some more options if I have those two pieces of info. Cheers my friend!

    • @fuzzy_little_duckling
      @fuzzy_little_duckling 5 місяців тому +1

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Hey Peter, thank you for the reply! I was thinking of the rod being able to compact down to 15-18 inches so it would fit into my backpack lol. Also to be more specific if I were to have a rod like this I would want it to be able to cast 1.5g mini jigs for stocked trout, panfish, and freshwater bass all the way to 10g for striped bass. So the total extended length might be in the 7ft range. Now that I think about it I probably won't be using this rod for steelhead haha, just fish 5lbs and under. And ideally my budget would be under $200 but I can save up (I'm still a student).

      @@fuzzy_little_duckling hey fuzzy! Hmm… the 7’ length makes this quite hard. I had one rod in mind but then it turns out it’s a 2 piece and so it won’t work with you size constraints… do you think you’d be ok with coming in down in your overall 7’ length requirement? Cheers my friend!

      Hey yep! That’s a good question… so I think casting wise the Tsurinoya might be slightly better but they’re different types of rods as well. The creek dance is a two piece and this a four piece travel rod. They have different actions as well with the intruder being more of a MF and the creek dance being closer to a M. I can just bring 1 rod and an extra set of blanks for a backup. Aioushi or Hitotoki makes handles that uses the furrel adapter and can be put on many rods using 1 handle. I like that. Too bad they messed up the reel seat and it leaves a gap between the hood and the seat with the reel installed. Compare that to something like the Megabass Great Hunting or Tenryu Rayz and the hood sits flush to the main part of the reel seat with a reel installed. The Handing MagicL UL rods have the same issue.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  4 місяці тому

      Hey helo! I think that that’s actually more of a trait from the Fuji designed reel seat. If you notice SKTS style reel seats tend to have a gap there between the bottom of the reel foot and the blank or reel seat. I’m not quite sure why the seat was designed like that but I haven’t encountered any issues with the handle/reel seat from the gap. I think I would be more concerned if parts of my hand aren’t actually touching the grip, reel, handle, seat and are left dangling a bit so to speak. The Rayz uses a very different style grip and it does maintain full contact with the reel foot. The Rayz spectra is by far and away my favorite bfs style rod but at a fraction of the cost and offering the travel aspect I would say that this rod is no slouch either. Anywho, thanks so much for commenting and cheers my friend!
