That 's what I said like I've seen him perform Don' you worry about a thing and he was still with no shoes I mean like how does that in front of like 100'0 people.
This was incredible in terms of showing instrumental skill- But I think the musical montage was a little too scattered for the audience to really understand what they were even witnessing. I know they were trying to feature how versatile and talented he is, but it came off more like a musical circus. I was half expecting him to juggle flaming guitars while balanced on a seals nose... This guy is such a genius. I hope he doesn't fall victim to being turned in to some kind of musical entertainment gimmick show.
Talking about him being a genius: I fully agree! In my opinion, it is at its best display in the 3 videos of reharmonizations of musical snippets by his fans. That stuff if pure genius and I prefer it over the circus stuff that get's released as his "offical videos". Probably a matter of taste...
Think of them as one instrument, with many pieces, just like a drum set can have more pieces than the number of limbs and a keyboard can have more keys than the number of fingers, with loops he can play all these things as one big instrument.
The guy is a genius and his brain wants to do so many things at once, but he only has one body to execute. I think it would be better to stick with one or two instruments per a song, and then change instruments with each different song to create different textures and vibes. So he could do a guitar/vocals ballad, then next song is bass/drums/vocal funk tune, etc
Just saw him last month play to a sold out crowd doing similar stuff. Dude's got two grammys and hangs out with the likes of Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones. Don't worry he will be fine.
why is that unfortunate? He still is best out there, I am sure he won the 1st prize or whatever. He is like the Swiss army knife of music. If he did porn, he´d be a one man orgy. BTW, on a slightly different note: I once saw several people playing on the stage at the same time, one guy played the bass, one guy the drums, one the guitar, one sang.. and others were there too, playing. It seemed like they all knew what each other was doing and together they all contributed to a beautiful piece of music.. it was mesmerizing and wonderful.
I think Jacob does a great job making a hybrid of generating the loops live and then triggering sections that are more fleshed out...I talked with his sound guy a little when the tour stopped through, the rationale was that these sections are so complex, it would be too laborious and tedious to build each section/loop live and it would take the audience out of "the moment", and on reflection I tend to agree...plus, given the density of ideas in his music, I'm not sure what constitutes "faking" that...its a pretty short list of people that even understand the harmonic concepts within...its a delicate balance
I just saw this for the first time. I guess this is what you get when you want Jacob to compile his medlye into 4 minutes. I enjoy it more without pre-recorded stuff because I fits his craft more.
RinZ Excellent point. While I agree, the pre-recorded stuff is off-putting to me, he really is limited here to only 3 minutes (one minute per song). It would just be impossible for him to loop everything or even most things. I don’t think this is really the best format to showcase the “one man band” unfortunately.
It was crowd-pleasing, but for me it would have been more gratifying to see him build up one melody from scratch rather than a hectic medley, assisted by outside notes. He's so ridiculously gifted, just watching him assembling a song piecemeal, instrument by instrument would be much more satisfying.
I just discovered this man within the last 4 hours and I'm almost positive he's the best musician on earth. I listen to alot of music and I always tell people I love all kinds of music so when i first heard one of his songs I was thrown off but I fell in love. The future of music is in good hands.
