I think from a tactical standpoint concealed is the best option for carrying. That element is of surprise. But if I were to carry while riding I’d probably go with a shoulder holster setup vs hip. Also I live outside of Philadelphia. So open carry makes people especially police officers uneasy. Even though in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania open carry is legal. But I’ve been to Richmond, Virginia a few times and saw lots of people open carrying.

That’s the most important thing to keep in mind, other states carry regulations. I think most people are respectful, as long as they receive the same courtesy back. Nowadays you never know what you may come across.

It really depends on how blue your state happens to be... States like California banned open carry, so most people who do decide to be armed end up carrying concealed weapons. Arizona has been a little more lax about it, but I think after some recent events, that may change quickly.

Believe it or not conservative Connecticut's firearm permit does not specify open or concealed carry. That said, open carry is just not something the public or police are used to seeing in this state and there have been a few "incidents" that stemmed from that. Personally, I carry concealed, my carry piece is an M&P Shield which is small enough that its no more or less comfortable in or outside my belt and I don't want to attract undo attention to myself. When I'm riding I usually leave my firearm at home, not that I want to but my riding takes me out of state(typically to the very gun-unfriendly states of NY and MA) .......and you know once I cross that boarder I magically go from responsible, law-abiding citizen to a felon if I have a firearm in my possession.... ;X

Wow, never would have guessed Conn to not have a specific carry rule! Virginia recently rescinded their gun law and we can no longer carry over he state line. Used to be able to carry from Florida all the way to NY Border. I don’t want a felon status either. So depending on where we travel, depends if we carry or not. Thanks for watching and thank you for all the info!! Good information to have!

An armed society is a polite society. Safe and free the way to be.

Sad thing is, it’s more difficult for a law abiding citizen to obtain a gun. Criminals don’t obey the laws, hence making it more difficult for us.
