A masterful rendering of Erics second best track (first best of course being Cream's ORIGINAL live at Fillmore Crossroads = NEVER, EVER bettered). Tight and not a note out of place. Top marks Joe.
I was very lucky to see EC during the journeyman tour, at 17 years old. Due to a fluke in ticketmaster’s system I got 2nd row center seats. This song, and Old Love just blew me away! Stage volume was very high, and you could feel Nathan East’s bass, it was my 3rd concert. Everyone in my row looked like they were in their 50’s and most were smoking weed the whole 1st half. Such a fun night!
I saw that tour in Germany at the Festhalle, March 5th, 1990 while I was serving with the Canadian Air Forces. Wow, 30+yrs ago. I was standing on the rail right between Eric and Nathan! What a show that was. He opened with Pretending, then Alibis and first encore was Crossroads, then In the Sunshine of your loooooooove.... ;) There's a kind of buzzing audio version of that show here on youtube.
Reese Wynans is magic on the keyboards, and Michael Rhodes is terrific on bass. This is a well put together group of pros. Really missed Anton while he was out. ❤ 🎸 🎹 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Lucky to live in Tucson, have tickets for Nov. 19th show. Saw him last Oct 2021 in Dallas. Fell head over heals for JB and each band member. There IS NO ONE like JB, he is the epitome of best blues artist there could be. Will go down in history and be talked about and listened to for years to come.❤👍💋!!
This is by far the best version of Joe's variety of Pretending. BG vocals kill it. I like the horns and the dancing girlss, but this is IT. No offense to Eric either!
As a drummah I could follow this Bassist into the mist of Avalon… Mr. Rhodes is a legend in my drum book of bass players. And yes the rest are awesome too obviously! Anton Fig the groove master!
smokin hot! Thank you Jesus for Joe Bonamassa. What a gift to the music world. One of my favorite Eric Clapton tunes as well. God bless you brother, keep up your amazing work.
I have been a fan of Anton Fig since I saw his name in the liner notes of Ace Frehley's solo KISS album in 1978. He has always been THE man on the skins that's for sure.
I saw Clapton a few months ago and sadly he isnt up to par anymore. He didnt even do this song. Its great to see Joe carry the torch and continue his legacy along with all the blues icons!
Hope this video never gets taken down! Keep going back for more. Would like to see another version by him though. The singer with him is wonderful. But to make the sound a little different, Use those girls.. May not be better, who knows but they are great
When Anton goes to those 'Bell Rides' Joe's solos goes to another level. There's been a lot of miles between then and now but damn, these pair of solos always just kills me. Absolutely smoking, and loud as hell. Perfect.
You know , people, I think it is a hell damn hard work. Not only physically or emotionally but spiritually. God bless your friends , Joe .Think their help and understanding and professionalism must be very important for You
This is a Great Band. Russ is doing an excelent job on the backing vocals, and Reese is really making Bonamassa shine with his harmonies. No need to say the song itself is brilliant.
Loved the black and red theme...Anton’s drums, JBs guitar and red silk lined jacket.... I don’t think Reese could have smiled any more. Must have been a beautiful view of the city for the band. Clapton would have been honored. Nailed it.
Wow, better than the original, i love it, I couldn’t sit down, I would be up and dancing like crazy, amazing band as well, and he is definitely Smoking Joe❤❤
This is close to the way The Cream would have done this song back ~1967. Love the extension of the amazing sound the guitar producing in this song (up there with White Room in badass tones).
I disagree, Cream was a groundbreaking jazzy hard blues band, they would’ve never played a ‘pop hit’ like this. However I like Bonamassa’s energetic approach to this song and several other covers by him. But generally I don’t appreciate the music he composes

When things open up catch one of his live shows... I love rock and roll as well and have become a HUGE Joe fan. Saw him in '18, '19 and will see him again this year and anytime @ Northern California 😎🤟🎶
Is it me or Joe has become extremely mature with his phrasing as a blues rock guitarist? When he first started, his playing consisted of a ton of guitar acrobatics, but he seems to have slowed down a ton and focuses mainly on whether the phrases fit the feel of his jams or arrangements (and I mean what I said in a highly positive way!).
I would probably put down to producer Kevin Shirley, around 2012 I noticed that his solos were becoming more structured and Joe being more balanced in his phrasing. But he still rips it up on his KTBA cruises. 🎸🎸
Joe Bonamassa....Simply BADASS!!! I'm a huge Eric Clapton fan...Joe Bonamassa did him proud...That was fantastic!!! Can't wait to try and see Joe in concert March 18 in Durham, NC. I moved from Georgia to North Carolina at the end of December 2017...My roommate, Scott, turned me on to Joe B....OMG, I LOVE ME SOME JOE!!!!!

Michael Rhodes RIP, you were a master that everyone wanted to play with.
a great version of Clapton's .The man in the suit proves that he’s the greatest again😊❤
I normally shy away from covers of Clapton, but Joe friggin kills this !!!
Go listen to his cover of Motherless Children and prepare for goose pimples ;)
Check out mainline florida
No doubt because hardly no one can cover his songs and bring the same energy and skill level
Clapton is a cover band
Bonamassa ist overrated! He plays a lot of notes, but there isn't enough feeling. Clapton ist a class for himself - the original!
He’s a gifted man. Dedicated . My all time absolute favorite. ❤
Been watching JB since the early 2000s ... this guy filled the void that SRV left.. pure class.

IMHO the best drummer JB's band ever had was Bogie Bowles.
Agreed on the AF! He’s just a groove master. At 54 I’m still tryin for that touch he has. Often imitated never duplicated.
It's so incredibly wonderful that one musician can hold so much creativity within him...
Mr. Clapton has much respect for this man. Just awesome!!
