1986 Marcos Mantula: Morning Coffee | Petrolicious
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
- The morning air is brisk and patched with fog, and the last colors of autumn are giving in to winter greys for the next few months, but it’s not quite time to stow the cars away for the season. Before you start brewing your morning coffee in the comfort of your warm kitchen, find an excuse to do a caffeine run in your car instead of your pajamas. In this episode, we follow a Marcos Mantula through Belgian backroads, getting the most out of its pre-hibernation workout. We hope wherever you are, it’s not too late to take the “fun car” out for something similar.

What an odd and yet amazing car, that dapper gentleman is one lucky driver!
Post more of these Morning Coffee drives, please. Sound is perfect.
Gorgeous car and beautiful footage.
What a great way to start a morning and that car sounds amazing!
Such a strange thing, it looks both older and newer than it actually is at the same time.
Could be the driver 😂
Marcos... yeah this is what will keep this channel a legend for many many years after it's final upload.
Never heard or seen this car before. Its magnificent
Thanks for work. Capturing the sound and surroundings. Very much enjoy it.
Classic lines with a great soundtrack!
Robert Mizek. I couldn't agree more.
Since Jay showed one I hot hooked on the Marcos brand!
Such a wonderful teaser. Despite an electrical problem with one of the tail lamps.
Hey, you want a carefree, most reliable car, get an un-breakleable Corolla for everyday commuting!! Mine is a Mazda/Ford 2006 Focus wagon. Bought used with 78k km in 2009. Great lil' rekiable car.
And then a most un-reliable Euro sporst car. Just for weekend fun.
@@marcryvon Dude, got fourteen classics and neo-classics alltogether (incl projects). I know what it means to maintain a car when it needs to be driven. Glitches happen. Still the most reliable are my daily drivers: a '97 Camry and a 09 Forester. New disposable cars suck !
Oh neat, it's the guy with the TVR Grantura.
Dude oozes charisma and he knows it.
One of the bests of 2019!
As a fellow owner of one of these - great video! It captured the essence - and the sound! I love the individualism of these cars :)
Magnificent car. What a fine exhaust! Many thanks.
Intro cinematography is second to none. You know it’s a great video when a car you were never a fan of is already on your auction search browser with 2 min 10 seconds still to play. Bravo yet again Petrolicious 👏🏼👏🏼
Looks so nice! Amazing classic!
Love this video! Amazing car and beautiful ambient
I had never heard of this car before watching this video and now I love it! Great video too, the music didn't overpower the engine as usual. Well done Petrolicious!
The design of this car is amazing. Hard to believe it's from 1986, I would have guessed it's from the '60s
It is!
The design is from the 60s with a few cosmetic changes, the engine is an upgrade over previous Marcos offerings in the same Costin designed body with inline 4s and V6s but the difference is 1962 aluminum Buick, Olds, Pontiac V8. I told Gem Marsh back in 82 that his cars needed the BOP V8, it was then going into the Range Rovers and Triumph TR8...but so was everyone who loved his cars. The V8 engine was the obvious choice to keep the old design alive. The Marcos presents the best rump of any car built to date, the design was just that good that it still looks bold today.
Absolutely gorgeous isn't it seriously Cool Motor stunning location
Not a single word was said in the video, yet it is extremely profound
I am very impressed with short video like this. It makes my day! Thank you so much!
a beautiful unicorn, the sound describes itself.....
Simply breathtaking. Excellently done Petrolicious.
As much as I love the Marcos or other rare motorcars, I can relate to "the last drive before winter" dreadful weather days. Mine is a much despised,late1988 Fiero GT. I do not care for all the negative " miss informed" comments. I enjoy her last drive before winter retreat. I look forward for her first early April cold start - always a quarter turn start every time for the last 30 years. Ooooh, the sound of all her 140 hp ! Love every year !
Of course, not an hyper hp car, but it is MINE. Really mine. Everytime I let some trusted fiends or relatives drive her, they go "Mein Got, this is a great fun car ! I did'nt know !!." Anyway, as I said. Marcos are still un-knowned great cars !
Looks 100% better than any modern "supercar". Supercars are pretty dumb compared to this.
So beautiful to watch
Beautiful car and sound
Amazing car and watch
Good morning, Folks! Drink a good coffee and listening a V8 engine’s sounds! Lovely!
Amazing car, congrats!
@ 0:30 till 2:05 - Quite possibly the finest automotive video/audio of 2019 / Masterful work indeed! 👍👍
Looks like a Bond villain, and drives a Bond villain car.
Nice cinematography and … um... nice cinematography.
Fantastic looking car, sounds great too 👌
Gosh that was short and sweeet !
Marcos were a limited production car from the UK. First time I ever saw one was in a car Insurance Co on R&T magazine. "What the f...k is that ??
Small, long hood, short Kamm butt... WTF ?? Later learned it was a SCCA winner. Always wanted one. Still is at 67 y.o. As a Sunbeam Tiger or a repro Cobra LeMans coupe. Dreams + lottery tickets.
Beautiful car
Beautiful scene
Beautiful nose
Wonderful video
Very tastefully edited.
I remember seeing these in the show room window when i was a lad
Autumn scenery from south Belgium 🇧🇪
Do you know on which Belgian backroads the Marcos is driving ?
Spen911 , really difficult to tell... Spa, Malmedy, Houffalize, Gouvy, La Roche-en-Ardenne, Bastogne... Belgian "Ardennes" is a quite large area! Would be better to ask Petrolicious. Greetings from Liège.
To the 10 people that gave this video a thumbs down, go somewhere else, you're not wanted here.
I can give my opinion only if it is the same as yours?
That is so smart and open minded.
Great looking Marcos!
Nice video 👏
The name Marcos is a combination of the names of the two men who started the company in Wales ,in 1959. Jem Marsh and Frank Costin. Another great car from Wales is Gilbern, with the Genie and Invader
The edit we come to know as " Petrolicious"
I own a 94 Mantara, similar car but with a slightly more modern body style.
Perfect design
🤣 I know that "reverse light issue" from my TVR Tuscan 🤣✌ NICE VIDEO 👍
the guy from the TVR!
What’s up with all these quickie videos? I’d like to see a longer video
the roar from the pipes ...
Shame about the odd modifications, centre lock knock on wheels and taillights. My dad used to own Jem Marsh’s first v8 Mantula from 1984 MPO 710J so this looks a bit strange to me
Marcos Rear = Aston Martin Front :-)
Awesome car, too bad it can't be appreciated properly in this video
I like these videos except for the extraneous musical soundtrack, which detracts from my enjoyment of the sound of the cars. Anyone else feel that way?
The driver should loosen up a bit. He looks as stiff as his gear handle :)
Relax man. We were lucky for the fog so Dracula could drive during the day...
@@Panthercholo Hahaha... he's out of Romania (Transylvania) so virgins be aware !
@@robertfayette4877 I know precisely where Dracula is from. 🦇
Well this was a silent video I would have loved to have heard about this car .
We have enough talk in the world today, less is quite refreshing sometimes. This is one of those times.
mac daddy
Yeah I’m cool with that ,I did a google search on the car so I’m good .
Vintage Car and Vintage Watch ( a 60s diver but not able to catch what brand ).
Time&Money: Maybe I'm wrong, but because of the size I think the watch is a Steinhart, not exactly vintage, but with an old look. I think an authentic old Rolex ,Tudor, or Omega, would do more justice to this great car.
front end kinda reminds me of the bmw z8
i want to know where to get those driving gloves
Another video where we don't get a good look at the car. Yes, the rear end is interesting but how about a profile shot or a decent 3/4.
" Automobilia poetry "
Rowan Atkinson owns a Mantula? 🤔😉
He'll probably crash it too...
❤
And then I take my '16 MX5 Miata out in the snow for groceries, but do I get a glowing video?
Дружище, там левый стопарь не горит, проверь лампочку!
Well, that was certainly.....uneventful. Guess things have changed now with the subscription service?
It's a classic now and yet it was so unpopular in it's time.... nobody wanted one...
Too bad we don’t know what engine it’s sporting, they had a Ford 4 cylinder powerplant I believe as well as the Volvo 6 cylinder from the 164s.
It's a Rover V8 probably the 3.5 litre version that was standard for the early Mantulas.
Shelby Series 1?
Could someone tell me where these roads are, I live in Belgium and I'm having a hard time funding some good driving roads.
not absolutely sure, but i think these particular roads are between laroche en ardennes and baraque fraiture somewhere, but also around where i live, between eupen and spa there are lots of good driving roads, plenty of twisty stuff, hills and fabulous straights. my caterham LOVES them. as for marcos, i've been a fan since the 1964 GT 1800. wood chassis. lots of lightness.
@@HughFeatherstone Thanks, I live in Gent so it will be quite the drive.
@@abarthdabom3057 come over and stay at my place for a weekend of curves. the spring or autumn is best. i can even provide you with off-road parking ...
Hey man, repair the stop light and delete the play on the steering wheel 🤯
Could be worm and roller...was part of my Fiat 124's charm/terror 😉
@@ad_fletch No it is rack & pinion, and extremely quick at that. I have a 68 GT and it has a Lotus 1600, bored to 1700 and built in England by Vulcan.
✌
Is that steering wheel REALLY “upside down”?
My OCD is having a real hard time here...
No, it's just got 4 spokes (which I hate).
@@revolutionday1 Had to look closely, but you're right... my OCD thanks you! 👍
What watch was he wearing??
Matt Botelho: Maybe I'm wrong, but because of the size I think the watch is a Steinhart, not exactly vintage, but with an old look. I think an authentic old Rolex ,Tudor, or Omega, would do more justice to this great car.
@@golfo0011 still fits overall
That upside down steering wheel is making me crazy.
Night in Russia here

When the car looks like its driver…
Unfocused shots, the car must be really ugly.
Bullshit video
Shhhhhhh. These are still cheap, don't let anyone know about them.
Cheap is relative...they used to be cheaper .
But we are now in a different World. The classic Car Guy is being forced to hurry and grab ANY THING pre 90's. As all prices are shimming up the "OUT OF REACH POLE "
Spare Parts are being scalped by none car guys..just greedy non car guy types,, that just have money in their pocket to exploit the next Marque...
The art of driving slow... And pompous. I'm tired of this channel. Hagerty is much better. Bye.
Thinking of comment to get most likes 😂
