Hey have you ever thought of doing a fancy guppy tank where you start with a select few and watch them completely populate one of your tanks? Maybe get a few different types of them and see what types of hybrids they make. Might be interesting!
I am now doing that with a 75 gal. tank....fancy guppies and endlers....I'm getting some interesting color variations.
Put a pleco, a raphael catfish, and some snails in that tank. Give it some “wheres waldo” vibes lmao

Patience is not Big Red's strongsuit, lol, can't wait for you to get around to the gardening. He & the tank look fantastic, though I do feel for the tetras, they must be rather stressed. I'm very glad that the surgery was functionally a success, even if not cosmetically. I know you love him just the same, and it's clear that he's in good hands. :)

You've been keeping these beast for how long?! I just started this last year in aquariums guppys,corydoras,red cherry's easy plants no ferts and am only getting started. Long live the aquarium hobby.

They grow above water surface, but they are sprayed non stop and humidity is so high they have no problem adapting to being moved to the aquarium. Your plants need fertilizers. They are screaming : GIVE ME POTASSIUM!

it would be so cool to c a big tank with lots of different fish in it that all sort of have different territories and hiding spaces eg shells, rocks, plants , big bits of wood and see how the different fish, crustaceans, or anything else

I once had a saratoga a couple of years back. Looked quite a lot like your arowana. Are they a similar species? Or same?
I'm questioning whether or not mine was a saratoga or not lol, he was about 2 feet long.

I would love to have plants in my goldfish aquarium but every time I try, my fish just rip them to pieces, even my baby Oranda managed to take a chunk out their oxygen plant yesterday. It was actually quite cute to watch. 😉
I've got some anubias on lava rock on the bare glass, and around just below the rim I have many pothos clippings growing semi-emmersed from the water. May try hornwort at some point when I upsize their take, should grow fast enough to keep up with most snacking..

I love these lights but with slow growing plants i think they are stronger than needed, which will result in algae growth

He’s just in a pissy mood. Lower plant growth actually looks good, gives the arowana more room to roam 😊

What is the water temperature? Mine is around 28 to 30 degrees. When i keep java ferns they become brown and melt away. Do we need to use aquarium fan😢

Yes, but the small fishes must be extremly small so the arowana don't even wanna eat them cause it will not make it full. But the arowana will eat the small fishes if you forgot to feed it for a while.

Maybe the fish knew that parts of the plants were dying and so up-rooted them to stop water decay??? there are very clever and probably been around a lot longer than us....
