@@CoverCoach No problem. I did want to share a thought on the item of uniqueness. Their version of the song is a little dark. Whereas the setting in the movie was a cozy bedroom during a thunderstorm in which Maria (Julie Andrews) as the Nanny is singing the song to comfort the children, this setting is very uncomfortable. Just tossing in my two cents here. Favorite covers by Pentatpnix ... wow. That is hard. I'll give you three, it's the best I can do (In no particular order) 1. Amazing Grace. Yes. I'm sure you've heard it a thousand times. What could Pentatonix do that hasn't been done before? Well. they're Pentatonix, duh! It's the best version I've ever heard; and, iirc, trended number one on the Christian Top Hits on Billboard when it was first released. 2. Imagine. A John Lennon classic. They stay beautifully true to the original while giving it that undefined Pentatonix twist. However, what sends it up here to my top 3 are the visuals. The setting is a black background and them standing around a box. Doesn't seem like it fits the setting requirement of your check list, but just wait. They tie in a truly beautiful and much needed message that is very relevant to today. Then they hit you with The Wall of Sound. You'll know what it is when you hear it. It's a can't miss. (You might want a tissue box handy. More then one reactor has fallen to tears watching it) And last but not least, 3.Radioactive. If you've seen the original by Imagine Dragons you may have been left as confused by it as I was. Pentatonix doesn't make that mistake. As a bonus it has Lindsey Sterling on violin and Kevin cello-boxing. It's an older vid but still one of my very favorite. Okay, that's my top 3. There are several others I want to add but I will leave you with these for now. Thanks for the great reaction. --A new subscriber.
Kirstie is Latina and speaks Spanish which I believe is her first language and in Spanish a B sounds like a V so I think what you are hearing is a bit of native language interference but it is not important she does an amazing job.

Um... think you confused Mary Poppins and Sound Of Music (Julie Andrews played both Mary the nanny, and Maria the governess) nitpicking, but I couldn't resist.
Someone commented that they all look like a family a vampires and *you* are about to be the Yuletide dinner ... there's something weirdly sinister about the whole thing, and Kirstin is downright aggressive in her attack on the tune. (And what in the world is all over the front of Mitch's frock coat ... ?) She's become marvelously confident and fuller in voice since her recent Broadway stint. I've heard that the set designers just went nuts with what was put on the table, and the performers were just told to pick up and play with things ... hence Scott and the skull. Although it would have been in character for Mitch to beat him to it. :-)
I don't mean to be picky, but it was kind of making my eye twitch. Julie Andrews didn't sing this in Mary Poppins (where you have interpreted her character as a witch - she was magical). She sang this in The Sound of Music, one of my all-time favorite classic movies. She was a postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess. Hardly a witch. I mean, for goodness sakes. Before she was the governess, she lived with nuns. Sorry, had to vent. Carry on. I do love your channel and reactions. ;-)
To cover covers you need to listen to Angelina Jordan. Try her cover of California Dreaming or I Put A Spell on You or Feeling Good. As a very young girl she had mastered not only the usual technicalities of music, she had learned how to sing like an adult, and the emotional vocabulary of jazz. She had a resonant voice, a raspy voice, a breathy voice and a belting voice. Her cover of Summertime on Norway's Got Talent is more subtle but amazing. Listen to how the second sining of the major chorus differs from the first and how she gives six distinct emotional tones to "Don't you cry."
If you want to have an accurate top 10 rating for this year you should give a listen to Angelina Jordan. She has tons of covers and while a few are mostly identical to the original most have been adapted to her own unique style. On top of that she has some covers that she truly made her own. The arrangements when reworked are always her own. The most iconic ones are from a couple of years ago : I put a spell on you from Screaming Jay Hawkins : ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html Bohemian rhapsody (not the whole song unfortunately it was on AGT) : ua-cam.com/video/7gQljxeaNuM/v-deo.html But she made 2 great covers this year too that should be considered for your top10 : Billie Jean ua-cam.com/video/xp67k9wk2Mw/v-deo.html Yesterday ua-cam.com/video/orv_BqSSa2g/v-deo.html She's a very young artist and if you want to appreciate the growth in her singing you should definitively start with "I put a spell on you", she was very young but it still has almost 9 million views. Make yourself a favor and go into it blind, you're in for a surprise and a treat :D
Oh you poor child! If you want to get a lesson yourself then you need to checkout Voctave. They are one of the best a cappella groups today and the best when it comes to Disney music. Kirstin, here with PTX has worked with them on a few arrangements. Jamey Ray, a Voctave member himself, does the musical arrangements for the group and I challenge you to find anyone better. Be prepared to be blown away. Pick any song of their’s you like. They are all Masterclass Compositions!

@@CoverCoachI love everything about them, but if I had to pick one thing, it would be that they all see each other (as well as act) as a family...and their are MANY videos of them interacting with each other (check out some of their "non-singing" videos just to see them that way without the need to react to them)

"Unlock YOUR talent."
Yes. I need that. Because it is hidden in Blackbeard's treasure chest at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
Um... think you confused Mary Poppins and Sound Of Music (Julie Andrews played both Mary the nanny, and Maria the governess) nitpicking, but I couldn't resist.
Sorry I'm late to your game, but this was in Sound of Music, not Mary Poppins. No witches when Maria is singing. Maybe I'm just confused.
9 out of 10 from me
with what they are wearing, makeup and stage set they were supposed to be vampires
Honestly, Castellucci's "Country Roads" is great, but "Sixteen Tons" is much better.

This was a comfort song, they have reversed it to make it creepy.
Carry on. I do love your channel and reactions. ;-)
This was not Mary Poppins But The Sound Of Music About the Von Trap family escape from Nazi Germany Nice try.
Lol...if you can call julie andrews a witch...who qualifies for holy? Lol😉😉
If you want to have an accurate top 10 rating for this year you should give a listen to Angelina Jordan. She has tons of covers and while a few are mostly identical to the original most have been adapted to her own unique style. On top of that she has some covers that she truly made her own. The arrangements when reworked are always her own.
The most iconic ones are from a couple of years ago :
I put a spell on you from Screaming Jay Hawkins : ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html
Bohemian rhapsody (not the whole song unfortunately it was on AGT) : ua-cam.com/video/7gQljxeaNuM/v-deo.html
But she made 2 great covers this year too that should be considered for your top10 :
Billie Jean ua-cam.com/video/xp67k9wk2Mw/v-deo.html
Yesterday ua-cam.com/video/orv_BqSSa2g/v-deo.html
She's a very young artist and if you want to appreciate the growth in her singing you should definitively start with "I put a spell on you", she was very young but it still has almost 9 million views. Make yourself a favor and go into it blind, you're in for a surprise and a treat :D
Hey Jeza :) I've heard a lot about Angelina Jordan, but I haven't watched her yet! 🙄 Thanks for the suggestion! Have a fun day :)
Not my favorite PTX song, but only because I'm not much of a fan of the song itself. PTX certainly "upgraded" it, as they always do.
You should check out fiddler on the roof by voiceplay
Hey Ingemo :) Thanks for the awesome suggestion! Have a fun day :)
@@CoverCoach You are welcome
Sorry I have to say My favourite things comes from The sound of music Not Mary Popins
My Favorite Things is from The Sound of Music, not from Mary Poppins.
Hey Paul :) I absolutely LOVE Voctave. Watching them was part of what got me into singing in the first place! Crazy that I haven't done a reaction! But I did meet Tiffany at Disney World. When I do a reaction to them, I'll dig out my picture with her (she was so awesome by the way!). What's your favourite thing about Voctave? Have a fun day :)
If you want to be authentic, it's Pentatonix. Not The Pentatonix. Just like it's Kirstin/Kirstie not Kierstin/Kierstie. just sayin.
You say you have to pay homage to the character and style of the original. But you don't know where the original came from so how could you possibly judge them? And why would I take your advice?
